Araya A. Hargate In Ralph & Russo Couture – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Araya A. Hargate was also in attendance for the opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael)’ at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday (May 17).

With a striking white Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture look, the Thai actress celebrated her burgeoning baby bump in a figure-hugging white column gown.

Given the relative simplicity of the dress, the charismatic extravagance and whimsical movement of the furry, feathery cape brought plenty of delightful drama.

Monica Bellucci In Christian Dior Couture – 2017 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony

Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies for the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, Monica Bellucci stole the show at the opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael)’ on Wednesday (May 17).

Staying true to form, she donned her third black look in Cannes with this captivating Christian Dior Couture creation that proved to be one of the best highlights of the night.

While the look had all the darkly elegant drama that we’d expect from her, the sheer components of the wispy folds of chiffon provided a light, airy allure that added a sophisticated fancifulness to the look.

The other real fantasy was tied up in that intricately bold necklace that could be seen from far and wide; it signaled the thrill of Cannes and all its magnificent charms.

Fan Bingbing In Elie Saab Couture – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Fan Bingbing took an elegant turn at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts on Wednesday (May 17).

By wearing a gown from the Elie Saab Couture Spring 2017 Couture Collection, the star ensured she would make a elegant and feminine turn on the red carpet.

While this ice blue color regularly reads as cheap in different fabrics and on different people, Fan avoids both, and simply looks fresh and seasonally-appropriate.

The built-in capelet is a modern and fierce addition to a classically ethereal look, but I do miss the jewels featured on the runway. Fan’s more delicate diamond pieces get lost on the dress, versus popping like the chunky gold items seen on the runway.

Otherwise, I love this look. Do you agree?

Robin Wright In Saint Laurent – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Robin Wright turned on the glitz for the opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael)’ at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday (May 17).

In a sea of long, dreamy confections, a short dress like this Saint Laurent Fall 2017 crystal-embellished design is bound to stand out—for better or worse.

In this case, the ‘80s-inspired, bold shoulder-frock just seemed out of place with its loose draping and slouchy sleeves.

The lacklustre black pumps didn’t do anything to dress up the effort either.

Great as a rocker-chic look for a snazzy little after party, perhaps. But I would have wished for more at the Cannes opening ceremony.

Uma Thurman In Atelier Versace – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

As jury president for Un Certain Regard, Uma Thurman was also at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael)’ on Wednesday (May 17).

With a flourish of subtle yet impactful sophistication, she wore an Atelier Versace Fall 2016 gown styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Blakissima’ sandals.

The removal of the original set of ruffles down the front provided a sleeker, streamlined approach that suited Uma’s style and the occasion.

What remained of the beautifully sculpted folds and layers is what make this soft-pink design so enthralling, with diamonds playing the role of this elegant gown’s best friend.

Jessica Chastain In Alexander McQueen – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Also gracing the red carpet of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts on Wednesday (May 17), was Jessica Chastain.

The star wore a stunningly detailed Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2017 gown that held its own surrounded by a sea of fashionable moments.

While the intricately embroidered velvet bodice is certainly the talking point of this piece, what I can’t seem to tear my eyes from is the bottom of the bodice–the lines are so unique and so perfectly placed on Jessica’s legs, it is simply masterful design and tailoring work.

The actress opted for a slightly less sheer skirt than the lookbook version, which was tasteful and smart for the occasion, and every single carefully thought out styling element from her dazzling diamond and ruby collar necklace to her ruby lips and manicure are divine.

Julianne Moore In Givenchy Couture – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Julianne Moore attended the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts on Wednesday (May 17).

Taking a cue from the carpet itself, Julianne wore a Givenchy Couture gown in a deep red hue.

If Cannes isn’t about glamorous fashion moments that remain in our minds forever, I don’t know what event is, and Julianne certainly delivered with a look that is worth remembering!

I actually let out a little gasp when I saw this gown–the multiple types of feathering and the cape detailing off the shoulder make it an absolutely work of art.

A low-slung chignon and equally as artistic Chopard earrings complete a truly inspiring look.
