Araya A. Hargate In Olivier Theyskens – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Araya A. Hargate had a second chance to showcase her maternity style on the red carpet for the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival premiere this evening (May 18).

The interesting thing about this Olivier Theyskens Spring 2017 gown is that it cleverly conceals, rather than reveals her burgeoning baby bump.

Araya’s look was all about bringing drama to the carpet, from the oversized peplum, to the sultry sheer skirt, the opera gloves and Chopard High Jewellery Collection pieces.

THIS is a Cannes worthy look.

Jeanne Balibar In Jacquemus – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Jeanne Balibar wore her second Jacquemus look for the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival premiere this evening (May 18), following the photocall earlier in the day.

The idea was a good one, but the execution doesn’t work for me.

Yes, the look is supposed to be outsized, but the fact that she had to sling the jacket over her shoulder to temper the look, proves that in this case a size down would’ve served her better.

Emily Ratajkowski In Peter Dundas – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Following Peter Dundas red carpet debut via Beyonce Knowles at the 2017 Grammys, I had high hopes for the designers first collection, until I saw Emily Ratajkowski’s lace jumpsuit at the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ premiere this evening (May 18) during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

If a model like Emily can’t make your design look appealing, there’s something wrong.

Yes, this is Cannes where the play is to stand out and be noticed, but the word ‘overworked’ springs to mind with the cut-out, the illusion neckline, the cummerbund, and the tiered train, oh my.

If this was a movie it would go straight to DVD, just as this is going straight to my WDOTY list.

Winnie Harlow In Zuhair Murad Couture – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Winnie Harlow glided down the red carpet for the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ screening during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 18).

I have to say I was a little disappointed by this Zuhair Murad Spring 2017 Couture offering from Winnie.

Someone with her fashion-forward prowess should’ve gone for something more daring. And by daring I don’t mean an Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress slashed to the hip bone, more like an avant-garde Jean Paul Gaultier design.

The electric blue silk of this Couture gown didn’t travel well according to the creases, so hopefully she will have the opportunity to dazzle us again before this festival concludes.

Chopard jewels and René Caovilla sandals completed the look.

Adriana Lima In Naeem Khan – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Adriana Lima brought some model magic to the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ premiere during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 18).

From that smoldering gaze to the red pout; all notions of this Naeem Khan Spring 2018 gown being a bridal gown were thrown out the window once Adriana hit the red carpet.

The body-conscious silhouette and feminine cut sculpted to create a slender profile, making this an unforgettable entrance for the supermodel.

Stuart Weitzman heels and a Chopard necklace from the High Jewellery Collection completed this stunning look.

Deepika Padukone In Brandon Maxwell – ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

I was about to draw a line under day 2 of Cannes Film Festival; labeling it one of the most uneventful in the history of the event, until Deepika Padukone hit the ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ premiere this evening (May 18).

This is how you bring subtle drama to the red carpet, serving everything you have – and more – in the name of fashion.

Her Brandon Maxwell Fall 2017 gown is supremely elegant with the tailored silhouette adding to the dramatic red-carpet impact which she styled with matching Chloe Gosselin ‘Opia’ sandals.

As I predicted the bold eye makeup continues to be her signature of this festival without looking too heavy or forced.

Ordinarily I would eyeroll the excessive ‘Angelina’ leg, but Deepika is one of the few – aside from Monica Bellucci and Elle Fanning, who are given me anything to get excited about this term.
