Laura Carmichael In Mulberry – British Fashion Awards 2013

Laura Carmichael In Mulberry - British Fashion Awards 2013

Laura Carmichael attended the 2013 British Fashion Awards, hosted on Monday night at the London Coliseum in England.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress wore a head-to-toe Mulberry Spring 2014 dark midnight-blue ensemble, featuring a strapless, satin corset top and wide-leg trousers, paired with a black leather Mulberry ‘Christy’ clutch.

I don’t know about you, but those floor-scraping pants were a little long for their own good. They could have been deemed a tripping hazard.

With minimal makeup and nary the hint of jewels, this look was missing some sort of wow factor to make me straighten up and take notice. What do you think?

Poppy Delevingne In Emilia Wickstead – British Fashion Awards 2013

Poppy Delevingne was also among the fashion set at the 2013 British Fashion Awards, hosted Monday evening at the London Coliseum in England.

The stylish socialite also eschewed the gown memo and gave us something more flirty and fun to consider.

Wearing one of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge’s go-to British designers, Poppy donned an Emilia Wickstead Spring 2014 short shirtdress.

Boasting a whimsical print of black grand pianos, piano keys and pale pink music notes, the frock certainly changed the tempo of the red carpet, if only for a few minutes.

When paired with ballet-pink, ankle-strap pumps and a glittery, gold clutch, the look took on an exuberant, quirky spirit that was hard not to appreciate—or at least smile at.

The fringe of black eyelashes, along with teased, bedhead locks, added a certain retro-cool vibe.

Do you think she hit the right note, or are chords clashing with this look?

Jodie Kidd In Marios Schwab – British Fashion Awards 2013

Jodie Kidd joined the glam group at the 2013 British Fashion Awards, hosted Monday evening at the London Coliseum in England.

The model had a bit of a Renaissance moment in a column gown by Marios Schwab, featuring deep eggplant embroidery in a lacey pattern from the designer’s Fall 2013 collection.

I think it was the long, split sleeves that contributed most to the costume quality—that, and the off-the-shoulder, sheer nude illusion neckline that was topped off by a choker-necklace-inspired embroidered accent.

She finished the look by mixing metals, carrying a small, bronze box Kotur clutch and wearing silvery sandals.

Long, centre-parted locks didn’t seem appropriate, but at least they distracted a bit from that non-illusory neckline.

Yasmin Le Bon In Roksanda Ilincic – British Fashion Awards 2013

Yasmin Le Bon attended the 2013 British Fashion Awards, held on Monday at the London Coliseum in England.

The statuesque British model wore a Roksanda Ilincic Resort 2014 navy gown, popped with a hemline of bold turquoise and white stripes and trailed by a cape-like appendage at the back.

A shiny PVC wide belt added some shape to the breezier, relaxed silhouette, but the design still could have been more figure-flattering.

Other than the sweep of a light teal, under-eye shadow, she kept her styling rather simple with an updo and a nude lip.

Clemence Poesy In Erdem – British Fashion Awards 2013

Clémence Poésy also joined the celebrity-studded list at the 2013 British Fashion Awards, held on Monday at the London Coliseum in England.

Everything was coming up flowers for this French stunner, who selected a black sheer-overlay gown from Erdem’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection.

Covered in a darker, more toxic vision of the brand’s signature blooms—these petals were of the neon yellow and shadowy grey variety—the dress took on a more gothic, but still incredibly glam quality. The black waistband contributed a note of structure to the chaos of the floral embroidery.

I don’t think this look would have been the same without the magical juxtaposition that was delivered via the pop of a supremely magenta lip and an altogether chic topknot.
