Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Shania Twain In Pavoni by Mikael D - 2013 Billboard Music Awards
Country superstar Shania Twain took to the blue carpet of Sunday’s 2013 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

One of the evening’s presenters, the singer brought an aura of formality—and a delicate diva edge—to the Billboard proceedings in her sweeping, pale-blue Pavoni by Mikael D. gown.

The strapless, Grecian-goddess design featured draped layers of silvery chiffon and a long train. Shania skipped a necklace in favour of a sparkling statement cuff on each wrist and a simple set of earrings.

Working a lighter auburn hair colour, she styled her long locks into voluminous waves to complete the look.

Hayden Panettiere In Halston Heritage - 2013 Billboard Music Awards
Hayden Panettiere hit a sophisticated note at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, hosted on Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

As a presenter, the ‘Nashville’ star took a refined approach to the evening’s daring dress code in a Halston Heritage Spring 2013 black halter gown.

The backless design featured tiered layers at the bodice, which the actress delicately accented with minimal David Yurman jewels and a reflective gold cylinder Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ clutch that I loved.

The finishing touches came with side-swept old-Hollywood waves, barely-detectable makeup and a glossed lippie.

Even though Hayden didn’t startle us with all-out flash, her subtle-chic look was hardly a snooze fest.

Boring or beautiful?

Jennifer Lopez In Zuhair Murad Couture - 2013 Billboard Music Awards
Jennifer Lopez paraded out her signature brand of sexy glamour at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where she walked the blue carpet with boy-toy, Casper Smart.

Like Taylor Swift and Emmy Rossum, the singer-actress worked to her advantage a Zuhair Murad design, this time from the Spring 2013 Couture archives.

The magpie in me wants to love this Midas moment. It was shiny. It was gold. And it had more than enough glitziness to go around. Sin City is certainly bringing out the sequins tonight.

But with the plunging neckline, the leggy sheer effect and that hourglass silhouette, I was having a bit of J. Lo deja-vu.

It seems like we’ve been there, seen that.

Naturally, only a bronzed glow and a smattering of gold accessories would do in this case. So a metallic micro-clutch and matching pointy Christian Louboutin heels completed the look.

Kesha In Givenchy S13 - 2013 Billboard Music Awards

I don’t really feature Kesha that much on the site because let’s face it, fashion-wise she’s a hot-mess.

On Sunday night I thought she’d finally turned the corner as she appeared to have scrubbed up well for the 2013 Billboard Awards held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas — that was until she turned to the side.

Her Givenchy Spring 2013 black tunic with a funnel neck, ruffle detailing to the shoulders and waist high side-slits was styled with a skirt on the runway, however the singer took to the red carpet sans skirt for a very revealing look.

What she gave with one hand, she snatched away with the other.

Why are celebs so proud to showcase that they don’t like to wear underpants?

Palladium rings and a ponytail completed her look.

First Kim Karadashian now this; Givenchy is not having a great month of May on the red carpet.

Kelly Rowland In Rami Al Ali Couture - 2013 Billboard Music Awards
Kelly Rowland made a dazzling, near dizzying entrance at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Wearing another of this evening’s shiny confections, the singer selected a Rami Al Ali Spring 2013 Couture silver gown embossed with holographic-like paillettes.

On the runway, this long, wraparound dress was reminiscent of a modern ‘Great Gatsby’ mood. But, on Kelly, with the silhouette snugged up and the slit way more defined, the vibe changed from a ’20s ball gown to a straight-up disco-ball.

I’m glad she opted for a single-strand necklace and a small bangle, rather than piling on even more glitz with too-many jewels. A heavy fringe bang and a lavender-pink lippie finished the look.

Do you like her splashy transformation of this sparkling dress?
