Penelope Cruz In Atelier Versace – 2017 BAFTAs

Penelope Cruz also attended the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

If you didn’t think there was enough sparkle on this red carpet, Penelope is here to quench your thirst, in this Atelier Versace chainmail gown.

I love Penelope, and I love Versace, so this Grecian goddess look couldn’t be more perfect.

The column shape of the skirt is a good one for Penelope – it makes her look much taller than she is, and I love her hair and makeup too.

She added yet more shimmer and shine with Chopard jewels.

Naomie Harris In Gucci – 2017 BAFTAs

Naomie Harris, Best Supporting Actress nominee for ‘Moonlight’, also attended the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

Here’s the thing: without the gaudy orange flowers under her bust, this dress would be one of my favourites. With them, I’m not so sure. But that’s Gucci for you – prettiness and excess are bought together season after season.

This is quite a different look for Naomie. She usually favours a stripe, or monochrome palette, and most of the time wears dresses that are just-below-the-ankle or slightly higher. This prom-style shape is a welcome delight to her wardrobe.

And the colours are spot on too: the dusty pink and the beige make for a wonderful contrast. The orange flowers spoil the serenity though.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen – 2017 BAFTAs

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, bought everything and more to the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

This Alexander McQueen Resort 2016 dress is oh-so-perfect on her.

I actually much prefer the custom off-the-shoulder neckline on Kate’s dress to the straps on the model, it completely opens up the top half of this dress. The spring-like floral print is statement enough, and the satin belt details add extra chicness to this gown.

Her hair and makeup are gorgeous too, and the jewels are most definitely Princess-worthy!

Would you consider this one of the best dressed of the night?

Caitriona Balfe In Valentino – 2017 BAFTAs

Caitriona Balfe attended the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

The ‘Outlander’ actress continued the statement-making trend for this red carpet in this Valentino Spring 2017 dress with a Hayward clutch.

This will definitely divide a lot of people. Some will think it’s perfect for this actress, that the colours clash wonderfully and the drop-waist flatters her. Others will think there’s one too many hues, one too many fabrics.

I personally like it. I’m all for clashing colours and textures, and I love the metallic pleated skirt. The one thing I could have lost are the ruffles on the sleeves, I don’t think they bring anything extra to the gown.

Amy Adams In Tom Ford – 2017 BAFTAs

Amy Adams struck all the right fashion notes at the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

The ‘Arrival’ Leading Actress nominee stole the show in this Tom Ford dress. Its simplicity is the very thing that makes it such a brilliant gown, that and the fact that Amy should never wear another colour other than this bottle green ever again!

The tonal contrast of the dress fabric and the velvet trim makes it look super luxurious, and the scoop back, and the bow detail, just add more incredible chicness to this look.

The matching green jewels, by David Webb, are the perfect accessories.

This is how to do Leading Actress glamour!

Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton – 2017 BAFTAs

Michelle Williams also attended the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

The Best Supporting Actress nominee for ‘Manchester By The Sea’ took a fashion risk with this Louis Vuitton dress, and unfortunately it hasn’t won ‘best dressed’ for me.

Without the slightly strange face design, it would have just been a simple sequinned mini dress, which I would have preferred to this. I just can’t get on board with the design.

On the plus side though, I think this shape is a winner for Michelle, and the Louis Vuitton shoes are a good choice too.

What are your thoughts?

Emily Blunt In Alexander McQueen – 2017 BAFTAs

Emily Blunt bought the drama to the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

Thank goodness for this dress! I love Emily, and her usual style, but her Cavalli Couture gown for the SAG Awards wasn’t her best look, so I’m so glad she has bounced back and is on top form once again.

The striking and complicated medieval embroidery to the top of this dress is classic Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton, the Head Designer at the House, is a fan of whimsical and romantic embellishments, and the flowers and doves here are gorgeous.

And the ruffled and layered skirt adds just enough dimension to this gown to be visually stunning from any angle. It’s a trend from this red carpet too – layered skirts are in!

Lorraine Schwartz jewels finish Emily’s look perfectly.
