Louis Vuitton Beijing Store Opening

Louis Vuitton Beijing Store Opening

On Friday Louis Vuitton opened a store in Beijing, China, inviting many local celebs to help celebrate the occasion.

Fan Bingbing: As the face of the brand, Fan Bingbing was of course in attendance. The actress wore a lemon floral satin slip dress with nude Chantilly lace trims which she styled with a dove-grey LV printed coat and off-white LV ‘Alma’ bag, all from the Fall 2013 collection with much improved styling over the runway. With her style being inconsistent over the past few months, it’s nice to see her back to her effortlessly glamorous self here.

Carina Lau: The actress made her degrade Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 wrap-coat the focal part of her look with a Chantilly lace trimmed dress barely seen under her coat. While the LV sandals perfectly complement the look, the horrid grey LV fold-over clutch dominates it. Had she ditched the bag, this would’ve been my favourite look.

Qin Shupei: The model wore a Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 lingerie-inspired grey-checked slip dress with spaghetti straps and Chantilly lace trims with light embellishments, which we’ve seen twice before on Victoria Beckham, once on a shoot and the other controversially during the Wimbledon mens final. Qin styled her look with a black clutch and the same LV sandals worn by Carina and Fan in grey.

Gwei Lun-mei In Celine – 2013 Taipei Film Awards

Gwei Lun-mei In Celine - 2013 Taipei Film Awards

Gwei Lun-mei attended the 2013 Taipei Film Awards in Taiwan on Saturday.

The Taiwanese actress wore a Celine Pre-Fall 2013 look consisting of a white long-sleeved top paired with black wide-leg trousers with a fold-over detail at the waist.

Opting to keep this look simple and minimalist, as intended by the designer, she added just white pumps.

On occasion I find minimalist looks kinda boring, but Gwei Lun-mei’s styling of the look – which thankfully didn’t include those black-and-white platforms, as worn by the model – totally wins me over.

Fan Bingbing In Ashish – ‘One Night Surprise’ Beijing Press Conference

Fan Bingbing In Ashish - 'One Night Surprise' Beijing Press Conference

I received quite the sartorial startle when I saw Fan Bingbing at the ‘One Night Surprise’ press conference last Sunday in Beijing, China. The Asian star, who has shown us no shortage of eclectic looks, completely took me by surprise this time around.

After recently thinking pink in a super-girly party frock, she peace’d out in an Ashish Fall 2012 pink T-shirt dress, emblazoned on the front and the back with a hand in the V-signal. I could see Rita Ora borrowing this item.

Adding even more cartoonish, bubblegum spirit to her oversized tee were bright magenta Ferragamo platform pumps and a charming half-up, half-down ‘do.

She did seem to be having a blast in this look.

Are you at peace with the humour, or is it too funky for Fan?

Pace Wu In Elie Saab – P&G’s Pro Series Shampoo Line Promotion Event

Pace Wu In Elie Saab - P&G's Pro Series Shampoo Line Promotion Event

Pace Wu attended a commercial event which saw her unveiled as the new ambassador for P&G’s Pro Series shampoo line on Friday in Beijing, China.

With green being the colour of the brand’s logo and product, Pace selected a green Elie Saab gown for the occasion.

Her chiffon emerald-green gown with a lace patterned bodice was effortlessly styled with a gold bracelet and enviable glossy wavy tresses.

I know what you are thinking: this is a tad OTT for a launch of a shampoo line, but in this instance she is selling glamour and you can’t get more glamorous than an Elie Saab gown.

Fan Bingbing In Valentino – ‘One Night Surprise’ Press Conference

Fan Bingbing In Valentino - 'One Night Surprise' Press Conference

Last time out, Fan Bingbing’s red carpet look didn’t fare so well, but she found her mojo when attending the ‘One Night Surprise’ press conference held at the Regent Hotel in Beijing, China on Friday.

The Asian beauty wore a pretty Valentino Resort 2013 pink frock with a white lace overlay on the bodice and a black satin bow.

This ultra-feminine, sugary choice is more like the Fan Bingbing I know and love; however, I have a feeling some will regard this dress as too twee for the actress.

With part of her hair pulled back, Bingbing styled her look with a pink flower bracelet and Sergio Rossi open-toe slingbacks.

Is she back to her best here, or do you have a toothache?

You may remember that Alexa Chung wore the green version of this dress late last year.

Shu Qi In Calla – Jimmy Choo Store Opening Ceremony

Shu Qi In Calla - Jimmy Choo store opening ceremony

Shu Qi attended the Jimmy Choo store opening ceremony at Finance Street in Hong Kong yesterday evening.

The actress’ Jimmy Choo accessories included a crystal-accented ‘Charlize’ clutch and ‘Anouk’ pointy pumps as expected; however, the same can’t be said for her dress.

On this occasion, the usually conservative star wore a Calla Spring 2013 printed frock with a gauze sheer insert at the waist.

It’s a cute, fun, flirty look, but the dress doesn’t sit as well as it does on the model and the top half is also revealing a touch of boob.

I could’ve overlooked most of the flaws to give Shu a pass for stepping outside the box, but why oh why is she wearing nude tights?

And what’s up with the Paris Hilton pose?

24th Golden Melody Awards

Golden Melody Awards

Here are some more looks from the 24th Golden Melody Awards held in Taipei, Taiwan on Saturday evening.

Cyndi Wang: The Taiwanese singer attended the event wearing a Lanvin Pre-Fall 2013 black dress with a satin bodice and a textured skirt, which was accented with a bow and styled with leather opera gloves and lace-up booties. You may remember that Emma Stone has already worn this look.

Christine Fan: The Taiwanese actress opted for a floral Leonard Paris Fall 2013 frock with a sheer panel and side slit, which she styled with Jimmy Choo accessories, including the delightful yellow-and-black ‘Myth’ sandals and the popular ‘Sweetie’ black-and-gold lace print acrylic clutch.

Fish Leong: The Malaysian singer wore a gold Lanvin frock with a plunging neckline. Sadly, the styling pulls down the look. The geometric Bulgari clutch could’ve been given a pass, but her snake-print Louboutin Daffodile platform Mary Janes kill the look. Emma Stone also wore this gown to the 2011 Women Of The Year Awards.

Jolin Tsai In Balmain & Alexander McQueen – 24th Golden Melody Awards

Jolin Tsai In Balmain & Alexander McQueen - 24th Golden Melody Awards

The Golden Melody Awards is one of the world’s biggest Chinese-language pop-music annual events. It had its 24th event in Taipei, Taiwan on Saturday evening.

Jolin Tsai worked two different looks at the event.

Red Carpet: The singer showcased her style credentials wearing a blue-and-black Balmain Spring 2013 harlequin-printed leather look with stud details and padded shoulders. Platform lace-up booties and a quiffed ponytail completed her look.

Press Room: The singer took home the ‘Best Song of the Year’ award wearing a gold honeycombed Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 strapless frock, stripping back the runway styling entirely, opting just for shimmering fishnet tights and black-and-gold heels. I love that she made this look her own. I wish we could see more of this collection on the red carpet.
