2018 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

More stars were in the mix at the 2018 AFI Awards on Friday (January 5) in LA, in addition to Emilia Clarke, Saoirse Ronan, and Allison Williams.

Reese Witherspoon: This little red dress may have been right up Reese’s alley, and nothing all that groundbreaking, but it was a chic addition to the style lineup. I like the twisted, ruched details to further flatter the figure. Christian Louboutin ‘Corneille’ nude pumps rounded out the look.

Greta Gerwig: I cannot fully get aboard the piece-y nature of this Burberry dress, what with the embroidered lavender overlay, the uneven hem, and the wide, dropped waistband. The dark pumps didn’t help the dress’s cause, either.

Issa Rae: Issa was nothing but a ray of sunshine in this happy-chic Calvin Klein bias-cut frock topped off with metallic sandals and a Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch.

Emilia Clarke In J.W.Anderson – 2018 AFI Awards

Emilia Clarke joined Saoirse Ronan and Allison Williams at the 2018 AFI Awards on Friday (January 5) in LA.

This J.W. Anderson frock may have been from the Spring 2018 collection, but its deep forest-green hue felt right on cue for the current season.

I love how the dress is classically sophisticated while presenting a modern vision of femininity in its mixed knit fabrication.

The Christian Louboutin ‘Naseeba’ rainbow sandals were the colouful icing on the cake, adding that extra little flourish to the look.

I’m sure many will be relieved to see that her gothic lip and red eye makeup from the day before were gone, with a fresh-faced approach in its place that really celebrated the star’s natural beauty.

What a difference a day makes.

Saoirse Ronan In Cushnie et Ochs – 2018 AFI Awards

After suiting up for TimesTalk the day before, Saoirse Ronan continued the pants theme at the 2018 AFI Awards on Friday (January 5) in LA where she joined Allison Williams.

One thing that really caught my eye about this Cushnie et Ochs Pre-Fall 2018 ensemble in the lookbook was its sharp-white, streamlined nature.

For that reason, I was left slightly wishing for the asymmetrical top to be tucked in on the ‘Lady Bird’ actress.

However, that will be a nitpick, as she styled the rest of the look glamorously with her Pearl Collective jewels, upswept platinum-blonde bun, and true-red lip.

Jimmy Choo ‘Marcie’ sandals left room for the subtle touch of whimsy to be expressed in the fringed hems of the cropped trousers.

Allison Williams In Carolina Herrera – 2018 AFI Awards

Going back to her brunette roots, Allison Williams stepped out at the 2018 AFI Awards on Friday (January 5) in LA.

Like Gal Gadot, the actress has left the winter doldrums behind in this feisty Carolina Herrera highlighter-yellow frock that is still bursting with classic femininity in its ladylike silhouette and delicate flutter of all-over embroidery.

At first, I questioned the Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle Follies’ pumps, as I thought they were black from afar. But, when I saw they were in a dark-violet shade, they quickly won me over.

I loved her bright exhibition of hue here, and it was such a striking statement when paired back to her rich shade of chocolate-brown hair in a fresh, wavy chop.

2015 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

2015 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of the 2015 AFI Awards held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Friday (January 9), which was also attended by Keira Knightley and Jessica Chastain.

Anne Hathaway: Opting for a crisp, clean look, the ‘Interstellar’ actress wore a Protagonist white sheath dress styled with Tamara Mellon ‘Frontline’ nude sandals with Eva Fehren jewels.

Elisabeth Moss: I do love how Elisabeth’s summery outlook served up via this pretty Stella McCartney Spring 2015 v-neck flared dress; however, I can’t get on board with the accessories.

Kiernan Shipka: The teen actress was worked clashing prints selecting a fit-and -flare design from Peter Pilotto’s Spring 2015 collection. Keeping the styling simple with barely there makeup and black strappy sandals ensured the focus was on the frock.

Jessica Chastain In Lela Rose & Michael Kors - 2015 AFI Awards & 2015 Film Independent Filmmaker Grant and Spirit Awards Nominees Brunch

Jessica Chastain attended two events this weekend starting with the 2015 AFI Awards held at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Friday (January 9) in Beverly Hills and the 2015 Film Independent Filmmaker Grant and Spirit Awards Nominees Brunch at BOA Steakhouse on Saturday (January 10) in West Hollywood, California.

2015 AFI Awards: Her first look was an exquisitely tailored Lela Rose Spring 2015 shimmering tweed dress featuring a slim bodice, which gave way to an elegant tulip skirt. Simple and sophisticated, I would’ve loved this look more had it not been for the Jimmy Choo black pumps weighing down the look.

2015 Film Independent Filmmaker Grant and Spirit Awards Nominees Brunch: On this occasion her black pumps worked perfectly well with this more playful black and optic white printed Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2015 dress decked out with a patent Peter Pan collar.

For the overall styling the second look works best for me. What say you?
