This was Donna Karan’s 20th anniversary collection, and she did not disappoint her guests, as she displayed a very youthful collection befitting of the DKNY brand.

The colour palette had bright blues, neon yellow, passion pinks and some darker navy blue and black colours.

It was blue that dominated the runway, appearing on dress, tank top, sashes on dress, and details on other pieces.

Models strutted down the runway in heeled sneakers wearing strapless dress and tops, jumpsuits, mini dress, wide-leg pants and jeans, vests and blazers.

With many separates on display, the mix and match possibilities are endless.

Even in that denim jumpsuit, Coco is still fierce ♥.

It looks like Nicole Richie was given the heads up on the striped and blue theme of the show by arriving wearing a blue and navy striped DKNY tank, with a navy and cobalt blue banded skirt.

She completed her look with black suede cut out booties.

Christina Ricci as always looks stunning. The actress wore a sexy spotted dress, with nude heels.

Winona Ryder opted for a head to toe black ensemble, with ruby red lips.

I am not quite sure why Petra Nemcova thought the fedora was a good idea, because her cherry red dress was enough to ensure that she stood out.

Rock & Republic Spring 2009 was apart from being in nothing but black and white, full of sex appeal.

Cute models like Chanel Iman had sultry ‘come bed’ eyes, pouts and big hair which instantly reminded me of Cindy Crawford.

There were two major looks in this collection super short body-con dresses and skinny pants/leggings.

The black and white dresses had details of ruffles, bows, layers, studs, ruching, and wide belts. I was very surprised that Rock & Republic, a brand associated with denim jeans, had a collection which had a heavy emphasis on dresses.

The skinny pants had scrunched side zipper bottoms, and leggings had black and white prints. These bottoms were worn with biker jackets, blazers, bandeau, leather vests, and silk tops.

This collection is for bad ass chicks with long skinny legs. I’m thinking Cameron Diaz.

Mary-Kate Olsen was in the front row, no doubt seeking inspiration for her next collection and shopping for more leggings.

Rag & Bone Spring 2009 had the usual mix of masculine pieces in the form of leather waistcoats and jackets with skinny jeans, tailored suits with tapered pants and skinny ties, to feminine pieces in body-con dresses, short skirts and blouses.

The collection had preppy checked shirts, exposed zippers, braces and studded belts. Everything a rock chick would wish for.

A strange combination that worked well was floral trouser with a biker leather.

Charlize Theron was the most high profile guest to attend a show yesterday.

She sat in the front row with her her Director beau Stuart Townsend, wearing a white v-neck tee, under a grey and black trimmed waistcoat, teamed with a pair of charcoal stretch pants and strappy sandals.

Jason Wu Spring 2009 collection was full of very lady like pieces, for the well-groomed woman with a penchant for immaculate details.

The dresses ranged from floaty to fitted, many with embroidered details.

The collection included blazer and a wide array of shorts, which Jason Wu has not shown before, which shows he is growing as a designer, who is in his 6th season.

The colour palette was heavily weighted with pink, as well as white, black and grey.

His red carpet dresses were unfussy, elegant, young and fresh, but blogger TraiT is disappointed by them, as he believes these gowns are similar to the Lanvin Spring 2008 gowns.

Leighton Meester was the guest of honour at this show. The Gossip Girl actress was wearing a Spring 2008 ensemble by the designer, which included a 50s style voluminous black and yellow skirt, with a black top.

BCBG Max Azria Spring 2009 collection was a wearable mixture of Grecian-inspired dresses, draped tops, and sexy evening wear, which resulted in casual elegance.

This very modern, feminine collections colour palette was a mixture of silvers and vibrant jewel tones of orange, pink and teal.

The jumpsuit trend looks set to continue in 2009, as this collection featured a few. One was a wide-leg jumpsuit that was so wide, it looked more like a maxi dress.

Accessories were kept simple.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler was the major star at this show.

Erin Fetherston Spring 2009 collection reminded me of those cute fairy-like dresses I used play dress-up with my Barbie’s.

There were organza gowns with tiered ruffled skirts or ruffled shoulders that reminded me of fluffy clouds, and blue dresses that reminded me of the sky on a clear day.

I loved the multi-pastel patterns on dresses and skirts, and the metallic pieces, which are suitable for evenings out.

Sequins also played a huge part of this collection, appearing on wide-leg pants and skirts.

I can very much picture Rachel Bilson or Daisy Lowe wearing this collection.

Emma Roberts was in the front row wearing a white Erin Fetherston Resort 2009 strapless dress with a feathered detail.

I know gladiator heels are all the rage, but these heels are too heavy for such a delicate dress.

Julie Haus staged her first-ever runway show, and did not disappoint her guests. All the beautiful items had a young, fresh, effortless feel to them.

Prints were heavily featured in the form of heart shapes, zebra stripes, paint strokes and polka dots.

High waisted skirts and shorts were presented alongside bright coloured frocks in yellow, orange, pink and blue.

Leighton was wearing a magenta version of the blue ruffled halter neck dress that was presented during the show.

Usually only stars like Charlize Theron get that kind of treatment. She’s arrived.

Molly Sims posed with the designer wearing a yellow chiffon mini dress, with nude heels.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler maybe the Sophia Bush for 2009 Fashion Week. Two shows and counting.

This Valentino Fall 2008 Couture collection was new Creative Director Alessandra Facchinetti’s first for the fashion house, after Valentino Garavani retirement.

I loved this whole collection as it varied between flirty ruffles, streamlined silhouettes to crazy cocoon-like silhouettes.

A lot of pieces were embellished, from gowns to coats, to add a touch of glamour for the younger audience Alessandra is trying to attract.

Models walked the runway in classic suits, cocktail dresses, gowns and cocoon coats.

In homage to the founder, the show ended with an elegant gown in Valentino red.

Camilla Belle looked divine as always, wearing a ivory Valentino Fall 2008 dress with a cut-out back, bibbed front and ruffled skirt.

*sighs*

Whilst the Williams sisters were battling it out to meet each other in the Wimbledon final, knocked out Russian tennis Queen Maria Sharapova was front row with her BFF Camilla Belle.

Maria wore a taupe coloured Valentino Pre-Fall 2008 coat over her black dress. I especially loved her peep-toe heels.

Givenchy’s Fall 2008 collection for me had few highlights, although the detailing on all the the pieces were outstanding.

The first highlight were gorgeous flapper inspired dresses with fringe detailing in amazing bright pinks.

The other highlight for me were the cowboy boots. Hopefully we will see these boots on the Olsen’s, before we seen them on Heidi Montag.

Liv Tyler was in the front row with one of her sisters wearing this Givenchy Spring 2008 one-shouldered dress, that I am not particularly fond of.

Elie Saab’s Fall 2008 Couture collection was presented this week. Elie is a favourite with A-listers such as Beyonce Knowles and Kerry Washington to Middle Eastern princesses. There were a few sparkles on a few pieces, but not as much bling as Beyonce would have hoped for.

The Lebanese designer created a couture collection full of wonderfully breath-taking gowns.

The colour palette was for his collection were browns, reds, blue, and pinks.

All of the model sported classy chignons as they walked the runway in silk, taffeta, tulle and chiffon gowns.

He emphasised waists with giant bows, shoulders were detailed with ruffles, and there were many floor-sweeping trains to add something extra special for those red carpet moments.

Somali-born model Yasmin Warsame wore some of the best gowns from this collection (especially the middle one).

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2008 Couture collection started with some very muted pieces of grey, brown and black. Then the ensembles became more and more dramatic, and more colourful with cobalt blue, neon yellow, orange and green.

The dramatic pieces had a lot of construction in form of cages. Models walked the runway in caged capes, caged dresses and even a caged veil at the end.

The theme was a mix of equestrian and marine life.

This Chanel Fall 2008 Couture collection is a perfect balance of classic pieces with futuristic pieces.

Modern tweeds, cocktail dresses and evening gowns, were all featured, as expected. What was not expected was the bright fusicha pieces, as Chanel Fall Couture collections tend to stick to a black, ice white, and silver grey palette.

All the models sported Anna Wintour-esque bobs, which I am sure would have brought a smile from the lady herself.

Fur trims, feathers and flashy buttons modernised the classic tweed suits, which surely raced a few heartbeats of those in the front row.

Volumious shoulders gave cocktail dresses and evening dresses a new twist. There was even a dress with accentuated hips, that would no doubt make you stand out – literally – at any party.

The coats were they only part of this collection that did not work for me, as they were not as structured as I would have liked.

House model Claudia Schiffer opted for a classic Chanel Resort 2009 white suit with black accents. She also carried a black satin Chanel clutch.

Daphne Guinness wore a stunning black Chanel Fall 2006 Couture mini dress with a gold turtle-neck and incredibly high platforms.

I would have preferred it if she had worn the dress without the Azzedine Alai waist belt.

Christian Lacroix Fall 2008 collection was another bright and eclectic mix of models wearing elaborate and theatrical couture gowns, fit for a modern-day Marie-Antoinette.

Lace was featured heavily in this collection, and it was often embellished with colourful embroidery and jewels.

Not everyone can wear Lacroix Couture well. Natalie Portman and of course Dita von Teese can, but Julianne Moore was not quite able to pull her gown at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Dita von Teese loves Christian Lacroix, and can be seen wearing his clothes to many red carpet events. Looking at this collection, if feel Christian very much had Dita in mind.

Actress Lynda Carter opted for this beautifully bright shade of yellow for her very chic ensemble.

Helen Mirren was more edgy wearing a printed skirt, belted jacket and gladiator sandals.

Whilst Janet Jackson was more demure in her ensemble which she completed with a pair of YSL Tribute Canvas Leopard Pumps.

John Galliano’s Christian Dior Fall 2008 Couture collection started off with mostly black and white pieces, which I was very surprised about because Galliano has never been afraid to use colour. Then there was an explosion of pastel pinks, greens, yellows, and lilacs in dramatic pieces that made me sigh with relief as I was thankful that Galliano had not gone bland.

Nipped in waist was a key trend here as belts and were heavily used to give a very dramatic silhouette to most pieces.

The transparency theme of Spring 2008 was very much a feature here with see-through semi-sheer skirts, that will no doubt be modified slightly on the red carpet. The pale blue dress that Charlize Theron wore to the LA Hancock premiere also had a see-through skirt.

The gowns were stunning as they swept down the runway. Many were layered with tulle, others were asymmetrical to add more drama, but my favourite were the off-the-shoulder pieces.

Whilst Dior’s theme was semi-sheer skirts, Armani Privé’s was bows.

Bow adored suits on the shoulder, the neck and waists. They also adorned dresses, and skirts.

The collection was full of signature classics’s power suits, with tapered pants.

The clothes as you would expect were incredibly elegant, but not as experimental as other couture shows, with the colour palette being mostly black, white, grey, beige and taupe with a touch of pink here and there.

The red carpet gowns have Cate Blanchett’s name all over them, especially the haltered dress with the asymmetric tiering, that shimmers so elegantly.

One of my favourites piece, was the bowed blouse, made entirely of pearls. I would imagine someone with a lot of flair like Alicia Keys wearing that one. I would also imagine her wearing the evening dress cut to expose one breast which is hidden with a shoulder-slung cap.

Kerry Washington was by far the best dressed celebrity in the front row wearing as stunning Armani Privé Spring 2008 ensemble.

Her fitted jacket was beautiful, but the floral skirt is divine.

Helen Mirren was more classic in this chic suit.

Actress Zhang Ziyi wore a fushcia body hugging dress, with celebrity shades.
