Derek Lam Spring 2012

Derek Lam’s Spring 2012 collection gave us more of his signature classic 60s flair this afternoon.

Clean, crisp lines were presented on a warm colour palette of yellow, mustard, caramel and gold with some refreshing aqua, white and pops of pink.

We saw luxurious knits, leather blazers, linen skirts, marine and peppermint kaleidoscope print dresses, blouses and pants.

Key accessories included Albertus Swanepoel hats, structured alligator ‘Charley’ satchel, leather cage appliqué ‘Bristol’ wedges, python ‘Daytona’ pumps and leather ‘Rio’ clogs.

Lela Rose Spring 2012

The Lela Rose Spring 2012 collection was everything I was expecting; florals, pretty feminine dresses and red carpet gowns.

Lela presented whimsical polka-dot dresses and we saw yet more colour-blocking on the dresses and separates.

Splash paint prints provided another exciting highlight alongside the colour-blocking.

The signature ballgowns with a corseted bodice are always a crowd pleaser and celebrities love them too.

I loved the warm and fuzzy colour palette of lemon, tangerine, blue, grey and periwinkle.

They will come in a selection of colours and fabrics which are beautiful, fun and on sale February 2012.

Victoria Beckham Spring 2012

I was really excited to attend my first ever Victoria Beckham presentation during New York Fashion Week this morning.

It seems like my anticipation was shared because everyone arrived very early which almost never happens.

The show started just after 10am following 2 moments of silence in observance of the tenth anniversary of 9/11 at 9.59am and 10.03am.

Once again Victoria took things to another level with this classic sporty collection.

Her signature exposed zippers and figure hugging dresses were on display, but she also presented some drop-waist dresses with feather light pleated skirts – which were super cute – and elegant sporty outerwear.

Oversized jackets with hoods and zippers were paired with short tennis style skirts and leather caps by Stephen Jones.

Colour-blocking continues for Spring 2012 as Mrs Beckham combined zesty orange with navy blue on both dresses and bags.

Speaking of bags I was sitting next to Tina from who was raving about how the bags are of a quality which she’s only seen at Celine and Hermes, and she knows her stuff.

The bag collection ranged from oversized totes, to VB’s signature structured clutches, to supple leather shoulder bags which some models carried as clutches with the chain wrapped around their wrists.

The other key accessories were the Christian Louboutin shoes. Pumps with a leather ankle cuffs and gladiator flats were presented.

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012

You would be forgiven if you thought Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2012 collection had a Fall-like feel to it.

The designer shunned floral prints and pastels, for bold saturated colours with a sporty athletic edge.

We saw a lot of fitted dresses with intricate seaming to outline the body.

One off-the-shoulder dress had leather panels on the sides to create the illusion of a streamline figure.

Monique used a lot of colour blocking and leather accents which gave the looks an expected edge.

Cut-outs with lace inserts provided sexy finishing touches.

A lot of lace was used in this collection. I particularly loved the use of black lace against the yellow trench coat.

I also loved the graphic splash paint prints on dresses, gowns and pants.

Odile Gilbert created tight high ponytails, whilst Val Garland for MAC gave the models a flawless look with black and blue eyeliner.

Manolo Blahnik created those sexy strappy sandals. I bet SJP will get her hands on them first.

Front Row: Eddie Cibrian (swoon), LeAnn Rimes, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Rose McGowan, Mandy Moore, Joanna Garcia and Julianne Hough

Favourites: cobalt blue twisted tulle off-the-shoulder dress and yellow and black lace trench coat

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Mandy Moore, Kerry Washington, Camilla Belle, Diane Kruger, Heidi Klum, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Weisz, Catherine Zeta Jones, Paz Vega, Ashley Greene, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Lucy Liu, Leslie Mann, Anne Hathaway and LeAnn Rimes

Adam Spring 2012

Adam Lippes was inspired by the energy of his West Chelsea neighbourhood for his Spring 2012 collection.

It must be a beautiful, vibrant place because the presentation gave us feminine pieces with classic tailored shapes.

Pantsuits and trench coats were given modern twists with floral sleeves for the former and sleeveless and sheer for the latter.

I loved the drop-waist dresses with the flounced skirts. They took the runway in several forms: black and white polka dots, delicate cream embroidery and lavender and white polka dots.

Capes, satin pantsuits, neon sweatpants pants with an ivory embroidered sweatshirt, sleeveless jumpsuits and fully embellished shift dresses were served on a colour palette of mostly white, ivory and pink.

Adam also presented gorgeous polka dot shirts, pants and a cape which all had a Pyjama-like feel to them.

The stand out piece was a red Sergeant Pepper jacket paired with a simple white lace dress.

Key accessories included gorgeous Manolo Blahnik sandals in a variety of colours and Selima Optique sunglasses.

Favourites: Butterfly embellished dress and floral print strapless dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Angie Harmon, Evangeline Lilly, Carrie Underwood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Freida Pinto, Elizabeth Olsen, Kate Beckinsale and Olivia Wilde

Prabal Gurung Spring 2012

At this point Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2012 collection is by far my favourite.

I found the mostly purple colour scheme and prints very refreshing for Spring, where we’ve come to expect brights and pastels.

Every look exuded femininity and sexiness, albeit very overtly, but I like that….a lot.

We saw sexy dresses with sheer asymmetrical panels, drop waist dresses with handkerchief hemlines, digital print floral georgette dresses, cigarette pants, laser-cut leather shorts, printed blouses, latex coats and 4 stunning red carpet gowns.

Most looks seem to have texture via rubber paillettes, exploding tulle, leather harnesses, and ostrich feathers.

Key accessories included Prabal Gurung for Nicholas Kirkwood heels and Prabal Gurung for Linda Farrow Projects sunglasses.

Prabal is most definitely bringing sexy back for Spring.

Front Row: Nicki Minaj and Amanda Seyfried

Favourites: Violet floral print silk dressand white gown with flutter sleeves and silk chiffon panels

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Sarah Jessica Parker, Leighton Meester, Iman, Charlize Theron, Chloe Sevigny, Amanda Seyfried, Zoe Saldana, Diane Kruger, Michelle Monaghan, Emma Stone and Anna Paquin

Yigal Azrouël Spring 2012

The Yigal Azrouël Spring 2012 collection embraces the combination of masculinity and femininity for the strong confident woman.

He presented a strong mix of colours ranging from bright red, to vibrant sunflower, orange and electric blue which were mixed with more neutral nudes, white, grey and black.

I loved the oversized high-waist flared pants, especially the burnt orange leather pants – this coming from someone who isn’t a fan of leather pants.

We saw collarless blazers and jackets perched on shoulders, tailored pants, hot pants, dresses with thigh-high splits, flared skirts, jumpsuits, shirt-dresses and sexy separates.

Jimmy Paul from Bumble and Bumble worked the models tresses into chic ponytails, MAC provided the makeup and Cutler and Gross created the shades.

Front Row: Poppy Delevigne and Lauren Remington Platt

Favourites: collarless blue coat with yellow pantsuit and yellow and navy print dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Freida Pinto, Kate Bosworth, Tilda Swinton, Kate Beckinsale, Kirsten Dunst and Claire Danes
