Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011

I always love attending Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti presentations, because it’s such a select crowd. Despite there being no setting assignments there is no drama.

I always feel like a kid in a room full of grown ups.

The Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011 presentation was doubled because the model took to the runway wearing a coat, but by the time she had returned she had removed their mod-inspired swing coats to reveal the gorgeous look she was wearing underneath.

I adored this collection which was full of pastel pretty colours of pink, yellow, mint, and lavender.

The prim pieces which include cropped pants, shift dresses, pussy bow blouses and babydoll dresses wouldn’t look out of place on the set of ‘Mad Men’.

60s chic at its finest. If you are a girlie girl you are set for Fall 2011.

Key accessories included chunky two tone Mary Janes in pastel tones.

Favourites: Pastel plaid dress and coat plus the yellow dress with the floral appliqué

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Elle Fanning

Prabal Gurung Fall 2011

Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2011 collection was a lot softer than his Fall 2010 collection.

I love the soft petal pinks alongside the fuchsia pinks and reds as so many presentations feature too much dark colours for my liking. Fall doesn’t have to mean depression.

The rest of the colour palette included black, white and grey.

Every piece was sexy and seductive.

The designer knows what a woman wants from sleek tailoring, plunging necklines, stand-out colour, cinched in waists and hourglass silhouettes.

We saw tuxedo pants, a feathered embellished coat, floaty chiffon dresses, lace tops with fluttery bell sleeves, ombré furs in orange and pink plus a leather caped motorcycle jacket.

Key accessories included leather wrap belts, Carolina Amoto & Daniel Storto leather glove, Prabal Gurung for Nicholas Kirkwood heels and Wolford tights.

The boots on the right are to-die-for. Worth sacrificing a months rent me thinks.

Favourites: Pink plunging dress with Mongolian lamb shrug and fuchsia draped gown with tulip hem

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Alina Cho, Diane Kruger, Camilla Belle, Leighton Meester, Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Olivia Wilde, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Maggie Gyllenhaal

Jason Wu Fall 2011

Jason Wu presented his Fall 2011 collection on Friday.

The young designer continues to serve up strong pieces which are both classic and feminine, which is why all the editors from American Vogue were in the front row to see this collection.

The mostly black and cream collection included strong bold colours of red, mustard and cobalt blue.

I loved the menswear-inspired pieces from this collection which included double collar shrunken tuxedo jackets, bow ties, wide leg pants, tapered pants, and hoodie jacket.

We of course saw the designer signature feathery dresses; alongside ladylike silhouettes, separates and gorgeous red carpet gowns, but the highlights for me were the looks embellished with the Swarovski Elements.

They really stood out on the runway. I especially loved the embellished jacket above.

Key accessories included polka dot tights, leather bags and clutches, platform pumps with gold dipped heels, round sunglasses and Maison Michel for Jason Wu black lace veils.

Favourites: Gold embellished gown Joan Smalls gave me chill when she walked the runway and the nude feather lace Swarovski blouse paired with a black skirt

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Diane Kruger (of course), Camilla Belle (most definitely), Kerry Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Diane Lane, Annette Bening, Leighton Meester and Michelle Williams

Farah Angsana Fall 2011

I always know I’m going to be wowed during a Farah Angsana presentation and the designer didn’t disappoint when she presented her Fall 2011 collection yesterday.

Farah was inspired by the glitz and glamour of ’70s nightlife, and this was evident from the elaborate embellished details and the fur stoles.

The presentation was mostly a mini adventure with many of the looks stopping way above the knee.

Her signature red carpet gowns were beaded, embellished, chiffon hand draped gowns paired with wool coats and strappy heels.

The colour palette consisted of rich royal blue, teal, red and black.

The finale dress drew gasps from the audience. The white silk crystal encrusted gown with feather and organza ruffles was styled with a fur stole.

It really was a show stopper.

Key accessories included fur stoles and sky high platforms.

Favourites: Finale gown and red embellished mini dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Taylor Swift and Blake Lively

Irina Shabayeva Fall 2011

Christian Siriano wasn’t the only Project Runway winner to show at New York Fashion Week yesterday.

Season 6 winner Irina Shabayeva presented her Fall 2011 collection.

As I hadn’t seen the season she won Project Runway I didn’t know what to expect, but I was very impressed at how strong the collection was.

With Spanish music playing in the background Irina transported us Barcelona with her flamenco inspired collection.

The loved the laser cut chrysanthemum flowers which boldly stood out on several pieces. This was also repeated as print motifs and cut-out appliqué motifs on wool jackets.

She presented many snug cozy cardigans, scarves and shrugs which the models wore with gowns and mini dresses.

The colour palette for this mostly evening collection consisted of bold reds, cobalt blue, shimmering golds, white and black.

Favourites: The laser cut coat and red hooded cardigan

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Sophia Bush and Kristen Bell

Christian Siriano Fall 2011

Christian Siriano took a walk on the dark side for his Fall 2011 collection.

The mostly black collection was anything but boring. The textures were luxe and rich. The shapes and structures were fascinating. The details were outstanding and blazers were tailored to perfection.

The dark collection did have some other beautiful colours add like rose pink and forest green.

Amongst the jackets, skirts and pants were the designers’ signature beautiful dresses and fantasy gowns.

The breath-taking heels were created as part of the designers ongoing collaboration with Payless.

A model took a tumble on the runway, whilst another walked the finale with only one shoe on which you can see in the video below.

Both Gabrielle Union and Mena Suvari had no such problems walking in their heels as they took their front row seats.

Front Row: Alexa Chung (in Deyrolle pour Opening Ceremony dress with Debenhams shoes), Gabrielle Union and Mena Suvari

Favourites: Black turtle neck paired with a black satin tulip skirt and the black feathered top paired with black satin pants

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Mena Suvari, Camilla Belle, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, January Jones, Katrina Bowden, Emmy Rossum and Leighton Meester
