Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2011

I was very excited about my first Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2011 presentation and I wasn’t disappointed.

The back drop of the show had stairs which I thought was for decoration, but the models had to walk down the stairs to get to the runway.

As true professionals they navigated the stairs with no mishaps or falls.

We were presented with vibrant colours and stand out prints which we expect from any DVF collection.

Sleek silhouettes dominate the runway alongside the icon signature wrap dress.

Jumpsuits, hooded sleeveless tops, and pantsuits, shorts, harem pants and

Like the designer herself Diane designs for the bold confident woman which was very much reflected in this collection.

Favourites: Printed halter top with contrast printed harem pants and the electric blue plunging dress

Front row: Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Bilson, Molly Sims, Poppy Delevingne, Estelle and Katie Cassidy

Max Azria Spring 2011

Max Ariza’s Spring 2011 presentation was as beautiful, minimalist and subtly sexy as I expected it to be.

I loved the maxi dresses, the wide leg high waisted pants which billowed down the runway.

Some of the dresses were paired with a crop silk blouses.

The textures and fabrics looked so luxe I imagined them being buttery to the touch.

Ice cream shades of peach, vanilla and mint green took to the runway with black, grey and white pieces presented too.

The dresses were held up with the thinnest straps creating intricate interesting details across the back.

I guess its no bras allow with some of these looks.

Key accessories included sculuptured wooden bangles, slashed clutches, suede booties and ankle strapped sandals.

Favourites: The heather grey top paired with grey crepe pants and the white printed silk Georgette dress

Front Row: Estelle, Leigh Lezark, Katrina Bowden, Alison Brie, Solange Knowles and Aisha Tyler

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Emily Deschanel, Angelina Jolie, Jayma Mays, Jennifer Connelly, Julianne Moore, Sandra Oh and Maggie Q

Malandrino Spring 2011

Yesterday morning it rained in New York, but by the time I arrived at the venue for Malandrino’s Spring 2011 presentation it had stopped.

Thankfully it did because the presentation was held outside around the pool on the Lincoln Center Plaza.

Models were shivering on their perched platforms wearing an assortment of crochet knits, slashed dresses, chiffon dresses, jersey prints, tunic, jumpsuits, wide-legged pants and leather gladiators.

One model wore a crochet ensemble which included a crochet top and bloomers.

The colour palette consisted of mostly neutral shades of khaki, whites and brown, but we also saw bold colourful prints and denim.

Key accessories included crochet thigh high gladiators, statement necklaces, straw hats, studded sandals and fringed bags.

Favourites: The printed jumpsuit above and the peach gown

Front Row: Kristin Cavallari, Kelly Rutherford, Perry Reeves, Abigail Spencer and Keisha Whitaker

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gwen Stefani and Liv Tyler

Preen Spring 2011

I absolutely loved the Preen Spring 2011 presentation which took place at the Milk Studio’s on Sunday morning.

I would say that their wasn’t a power dress in sight, but Kelly Brook wore one in the front row.

With an icy back drop we were presented with a very neutral palette of icy greys, blues plus black and white looks.

I loved the balance between the structured and free flowing pieces.

We saw a lot of bare backs.

Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi called the bare-backs “our erogenous zone this season.”

We saw many drop waist dresses. Some dresses were paired with peplum belts to give the same low slung illusion.

I think this is one of their best collection’s yet. I loved the elegantly tailored mix, which was both strong and feminine.

Favourites: Black drop waist dress with an embroidered top and the taupe dress above which looks like a very high-waisted skirt

Front row: Kelly Brook and Leigh Lezark

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Chloe Sevigny, Agyness Deyn, Florence Welch, Halle Berry, Isabel Lucas, Leighton Meester, Zoe Saldana, Rachel Bilson, Sarah Jessica Parker

Derek Lam Spring 2011

Derek Lam’s Spring 2011 started off with smart denims followed by clean crisp spring looks.

I thought about Celine whilst watching this presentation, because this collection had that same minimal, ultra refined elegance.

I found myself being quite blown away by this presentation.

We were presented with A-line suede skirts, poplin blouses, cashmere sweaters, ponchos, pleated skirt, chic dresses and fabulous outerwear, including a canvas trench with a swingy ruffled drape in the back.

The show ended with cool breezy maxi print dresses. It was like you could feel the sea breeze gently swirling around the tents.

Models sported voluminous 60s hair. Their make-up was clean and simple with a flash of bright red liner added to the upper eye lids.

Favourites: Printed halter maxi dress, the black sateen top paired with the embellished skirt and the khaki trench dress

Front Row: Leighton Meester, Deborah Cox and Rashida Jones

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Leighton Meeter, Rashida Jones, Thandie Newton, Robin Wright Penn, Maria Sharapova and Sarah Jessica Parker

Z Spoke by Zac Posen Spring 2011

There was so much energy at the Z Spoke by Zac Posen Spring 2011 presentation yesterday.

It’s what we all needed at 7pm after a full day of shows.

The models were having so much fun on the runway, smiling dancing and twirling. One model fell after her twirl but got up smiling pumping her fist as she received a big cheer from the crowd.

Zac Posen created a fabulous fun, young and sexy collection with peek-a-boo cut-outs and plunging necklines.

It wasn’t all sexy. There were many wearable pieces from spring coats, knits, suits, tunics and T-shirts which were layered with other pieces.

Ruffles tend to be really girlie, but Zac made them more punk by teaming the ruffles with a lacey bra.

Key accessories included sunglasses which were colourful or had a sparkling frame.

The platform heels were created in collaboration with Steven Madden.

I loved the models make-up. The slashes of bright eye shadow really added to the punk vibe.

Favourites: The face print top and tapered pants above and the keyhole detail dress with fringed detailing

Front row: Claire Danes, Carmen Electra, Estelle, Shenae Grimes, Kristin Cavallari, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kimora Lee Simmons, Russell Simmons and Jamie King

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Shenae Grimes, Ashley Tisdale, Kristin Cavallari, Miranda Cosgrove, Zooey Deschanel, Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, Kristen Bell, Pixie Lott, Ginnifer Goodwin, Chloe Sevigny, Jamie Chung, Kate Mara, Keke Palmer,
