Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Giorgio Armani’s Spring 2013 modern collection focused on black, turquoise, and grey.

Beautifully tailored jackets fit like a glove paired with loose-fitted trousers.

The tailoring wasn’t always razor sharp, on occasion it was soft. We saw trousers, shorts, tunics, coats, dresses and gowns float down the runway as if they were barely touching the body, yet they seemed exquisitely moulded to the models through the use of liquid-like gossamer silk and organza.

For the evening Armani presented beaded jackets, sparkling evening dresses, a strapless dress with a turquoise beaded bodice, dresses paired with pants and a selection of printed pieces with a galaxy-esque print.

Each model had her hair pulled back into a vintage-style updo with a fascinator perched on top of her head.

Key accessories included a selection of clutches ranging from beaded to python, lady-like top-handle bags, beaded bracelets, strappy sandals, brogues, flats and a butterfly necklace.

Even though Massimiliano Giornetti didn’t present any gowns for the Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2013 collection, there was still plenty for me to get excited about.

Opting to go sleek, edgy and sexy for spring, we were treated to feminine pieces with a masculine edge on a colour palette which was strictly black, cream and taupe.

We saw ultra-lightweight, three-dimensional lace dresses, loose, slouchy trousers with buckle belts, fine-knit sweaters, trench coats, miniskirts with wraparound belts, LBDs, leather pants, leather jackets and sexy metallic mini dresses for Zoe Saldana.

Key accessories included leather hobos and the most lust-worthy footwear collection I have seen so far this Fashion Week. I loved the open-toe knee-high boots, the sandals with laces and the open-toe crocodile sandals.

Front Row: Claire Julien, Beau Garrett, Kelsey Chow, Simona Ventura, Isabella Ragonese

Favourites: Taupe crocodile dress with layered skirt and gold-and-black sequin tank with leather skirt

Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce were once again inspired by their Sicilian roots to create a colourful Spring 2013 collection for Dolce & Gabbana.

We saw luxe beach holiday attire including colourful striped dresses, crop tops, short suits, bloomers, and folk appliqués reminiscent of Sicily’s vibrant street markets.

But it wasn’t all about having fun beside the seaside; there were many red-carpet-worthy looks too.

There were fitted printed dresses, signature bustier dresses with exotic prints, peasant dresses, basketweave skirts, sheer long-sleeve dresses, chic blouses, high-waisted skirts and black lace dresses with Monica Belluci’s name written all over them.

We often say the stars like Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana would look great in a sack; well, they will be able to put that theory to the test by donning the burlap sack dresses presented in this collection.

Wicker corsets and dresses closed the show. These theatrical, show-stopping pieces I can see being worn by the likes of Fergie and Katy Perry.

The models sported a printed headscarf, and each look was styled with a festive accessory from oversized beaded earrings, colourful wedges, beaded pointy flats, embellished totes, striped totes, oversized waist belts with colourful fringing and updated Miss Sicily bags.

Front Row: Bianca Balti, Bianca Brandolini d’ Adda, Laetitia Casta, Anna Dello Russo and Livia Firth

Favourites: Floral blouse with brocade high-waisted skirt and printed dress with lace

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Katy Perry, Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana, Bianca Balti, Bianca Brandolini d’ Adda, Monica Belluci, Laetitia Casta, Anna Dello Russo, Fergie, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga

MSGM Spring 2013

The MSGM Spring 2013 was one of my favourite presentations this Fashion Week.

It encompassed all the things I love: colour, prints and affordability.

Creative Director Massimo Giorgetti, who launched his brand just three years ago, presented an eclectic mix of ethnic patterns, exotic animal prints, mixed stripes and Navajo motifs.

It may sound like a lot to focus on, but it was presented beautifully.

If you were to buy four pieces from this collection you could mix and match them to give you enough different looks for a whole week.

The pieces included skirts, shorts, tank tops, V-neck dresses, tunics, shirts, wide-leg pants and cropped jackets.

Key accessories, which were just as colourful, included ankle-strap heels, turbans, clutches and mirror shades.

Favourites: EVERYTHING

Peter Dundas has created yet another opulent Emilio Pucci collection for Spring 2013 which will be adored by his celebrity fans.

Last season the designer gave us a Spanish flavour; this time the collection was steeped in Asian cultural influences.

I loved the bomber jackets emblazoned with embroidered dragons which were long enough to wear as mini dresses. Gold dragon embroidery also adorned black silky kimono-style pyjamas, which would make for a very interesting red-carpet look.

On a colour palette that was mostly white, with black, green, red and one single electric-blue embroidered bomber jacket paired with a fitted skirt, we also saw Chinese jackets featuring traditional knot closures, red-carpet-worthy gowns, leather jackets and tunics.

Sheer dresses and pants added a touch of sex appeal to the collection, which will delight Lea Michele and Kylie Minogue.

Peter Dundas didn’t forget to pay homage to Pucci’s heritage with vivid 70s ‘Elisse’ patchwork-style prints modernized with a wood-blocking effect.

Joan Smalls closed the show wearing a bright red halter gown, which I can see popping up on a red carpet very soon.

Key accessories included cuffs, wedges, metallic clutches, shoulder bags and oversized sunglasses.

Front Row: Ulyana Sergeenko, Rose McGowan, Anna Wintour and Anna Dello Russo

Favourites: Elisse print shirt and shorts and electric-blue bomber jacket with fitted skirt

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Elizabeth Banks, Lea Michele, Eva Longoria, Kate Hudson, Olga Kurylenko, Janet Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Jessie J, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Blake Lively, Miley Cyrus, Nieves Alvarez and Allison Williams
