Christopher Kane Spring 2011

Despite our dreary weather we sure know how to do colour in London.

Whilst New York Fashion Week gave us lots of nude and neutrals, London is bold and colourful.

Christopher Kane’s Spring 2011 presented a fun collection of neon colours of yellow, orange, pink and green.

He mixed simple silhouettes with futuristic colours and bold prints.

Soft lace, jersey prints, laser cut leather and argyle tops were presented with signature ‘sexy as hell’ Giuseppe Zanotti heels with the same neon colour palette.

If anyone pairs these pieces with black pumps I’m going to lose my mind.

Yet again this is one of my favourites of the season.

Front Row: Yasmin le Bon, Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld

Peter Pilotto Spring 2011

This morning I got up bright and early for the 9am Peter Pilotto Spring 2011 presentation which was held at the Topshop show space at the old Eurostar Waterloo terminal.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos were inspired by Californian retro rock climbers and their colourful sports wear. They also looked to multicoloured muscle illustrations for inspiration.

The duo’s signature prints were refreshing light on a palette of white, eggshell blues, peachy nudes, vibrant electric blue, coral, black white and beige.

I loved the sporty feel of the collection. The parachute silks kind of reminded me of the 80s shell suits, but done is a more sophisticated way.

We were presented with full-length dresses, cropped jackets with sporty panelling and zipper details, knit turtlenecks, drop-waist colour-block dresses, a double zip sleeveless jacket worn as a dress and mini print dresses.

As this collection was about sports and movement, we saw new cuts, longer refined silhouettes and fly away panels to visually illustrate speed.

The key accessories from this collection were the Nicholas Kirkwood heels which either had a hollow heel, print straps or gold details.

I really loved the large gold paper clips which were incorporated into necklines and used buckles.

Favourites: The blue, nude dress above with the pleated skirt and striped knit turtle neck with the matching pants

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Angelina Jolie, Leighton Meester, Chloe Sevigny, Cassie, Marion Cotillard and Isabel Lucas

Richard Nicoll Spring 2011

Richard Nicoll’s Spring 2011 presentation evoked minimal glamour.

This beautiful collection had a certain androgynous feel to it from the models slick back hair to the architectural lines which had a mix of 40s/70s silhouettes.

On a colour palette of black, white, peach and nude we saw boyish jackets, sheer tees with peplums, fitted PVC dresses, leather pants, leather shorts, key hole dresses, pleated tops with billowing capes and dresses layered over sheer pants.

Nearly all the looks had fluid movements as the models stormed the runway.

I was impressed with their ability to create such a dramatic movement until it became apparent that this was created by a wind machine.

Doh…silly me.

This was one of Nicoll’s strongest collection. Its exciting to see him continue to grow as a designer.

Key accessories included Christian Louboutin heels.

Jewels and belt buckles were created by Erickson Beamon using Swarovski elements and Culter and Gross designed the sunglasses also using Swarovski elements.

Front Row: Olivia Palermo

Favourites: Peach pleated mini dress with flowing cape and PVC fitted dress with ruffled collar

Who I see wearing this collection: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessica Alba, Chloe Sevigny, Lily Allen, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole

Julien Macdonald Spring 2011

George Gershwin’s classic “Summertime” set the dreamy mood for the Julien Macdonald’s Spring 2011 presentation in London this lunchtime.

Editors and buyers sipped cocktails as the PR girls spritzed perfume in the air before the show.

Once the models hit the runway, I thought the dresses – especially the babydoll dresses – could easily pass for lingerie as they were barely-there, short and very revealing.

Rise and fall hems billowed and fluttered down the runway lighter than air.

The colour palette for this sensual collection was mostly neautral with orange, red, blue and black thrown into the mix.

Apart for the underwear as outer part of the presentation we also saw striped jackets, knit dresses, summery maxi dresses and a lace coat.

The models had big poufy hair and pouty glossy lips.

Front Row: Olivia Palermo, Amber Rose, Elle Macpherson, Cat Deeley and Rachel Stevens

Favourites: Striped sleeveless dress and orange floral dress

Who I See Wearing This Collection: WAGs, Cheryl Cole and Paris Hilton

Mary Katrantzou Spring 2011

Had Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2011 presentation not featured her trademark vibrant prints I would’ve been very disappointed.

She didn’t let me down.

Her energetic prints and structured pieces lit up the former Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station this morning.

The show was titled “C’est ci nes pas une Chambre” (This is not a room).

It takes its cue from the surrealist world of Rene Magreitte and inspiration from the graphic interior sets of Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton iconic fashion shoots, to the inner environments found in Architectural digest.

It was like Mary stripped that room to create this collection.

A window frame is focus point on the bodice of each piece creating strong shoulders and providing a great view.

Curtains are used to add flowing movement to structured dress.

Victorian lampshades created tge most beautiful skirts with dangling beaded and crystal details.

Key accessories included candlestick holders as necklaces and Christian Louboutin colourful wedges.

I know we have still have Milan and Paris to go, but this collection will rank in my top 10 of the season.

Breath-taking, colourful and truly memorable.
