Red Carpet Fashion Awards

I feel like I have travel to many faraway places this Fashion Week. On Friday the Moschino Spring 2012 collection took me to Mexico.

Models stormed the runway wearing matador-inspired embellished and embroidered boleros which were paired with toreador hats and leggings.

There were a lot of other fun pieces which were Mexican-inspired like the fringed ponchos, peasant dresses, sexy ruffled dresses and Frida-inspired headpieces.

On a colour palette of gold, black, yellow and beige, we saw ultra-short embellished dresses, smock tops, floral print peasant skirts and embroidered shorts.

Apart from the toreador hats, other key accessories included ankle-wrap wedges, crucifixes, cat-eye sunglasses, gold hooped earrings, beaded clutches, woven clutches and fringed bags.

The models without the fascinators or the toreador hats sported Frida-inspired braided hairstyles.

I love the mixture of high-impact pieces with romantic dresses and drop-waist gowns.

D&G Spring 2012

Yesterday I attended my first and final D&G presentation. Sadly, this Spring 2012 collection will be the last D&G collection as the designers will be focusing on strengthening and expanding their signature line.

Dolce & Gabbana’s kid sister went out with a bang.

Bold, contrasting prints dominated the runway of this glamorous, feminine collection which is the most colourful, eclectic and fun presentation I’ve seen this Fashion Week.

The only solid pieces are a white shirt, two knit sweaters and a denim pant suit.

The silhouettes ranged from flowy dresses of various lengths with handkerchief hemlines, to ultra-short fitted mini dresses, which I’m placing bets on Fergie being the first to wear on the red carpet.

We also saw sexy shorts, bloomers, cropped tops, printed pants, tunics and a finale of maxi dresses.

The fabulous, eclectic prints with nods to the 90s were teamed with satin print wedges and gold gladiator flats.

Other key accessories included oversized straw hats, which I immediately pictured on Kimora Lee Simmons, charm bracelets, satin print wedges, minaudières, fold-over clutches, tassel-accent quilted bags and lots of ghetto gold jewellery.

Favourites: Paisley print top with floral print shorts and printed shirt and matching pants

Fendi’s Spring 2012 presentation was full of playful, ladylike pieces within this classic yet modern collection.

I loved the stripes and the colourful embroidery which featured on many of the looks.

Models swayed down the runway wearing mid-length dresses, suede trench coats and boyish blazers with cut-away cold shoulders.

We also saw lightweight leather jackets, samurai shoulders, tailored blazers, fur vests, cool blue shirts, loose-fitted pants and hooded jackets.

Towards the end of the presentation, Karl showcased sheer black dresses with twirl designs.

These dresses would be perfect for a balmy evening whilst on vacation, or a daring diva on the red carpet.

Key accessories included multi-coloured strappy sandals, sunglasses, fur-trimmed clutches and perforated leather shoulder bags which also double up as totes.

The models’ tresses were teased into Betty Draper-esque bouffants.

Front Row: Bianca Brandolini d’Adda and Delfina Delettrez Fendi

Celebrities fell in love with MaxMara this year, so I was eager to see which pieces they could possibly be picking from the Spring 2012 collection.

On a colour palette of neutral shades of sand, coffee, aqua blue, gold and ivory plus white and black, MaxMara presented mostly lightweight daywear separates with gold hardware accents.

We saw cocoon dresses, tight-fitted colour-block knit dresses, leather shorts, rompers with clear panels, bomber jackets, cropped leather jackets and strapless jumpsuits from this sporty, utilitarian collection.

I particularly loved the drop-waist dress with a leather panel which seemed to be held together with gold accents that looked like staples. This look was paired with pedal pushers as many pieces were.

If you are looking for something which is simple and chic that doesn’t follow the Spring 2012 plastic or floral trend, then these pieces would be perfect for you.

Key accessories included satchels, lace-up wedges and shades.

With a sunkissed glow, the models sported twisted dreadlocks.

Thanks to Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana and several top editors, I have become slightly obsessed with No. 21.

After looking for it everywhere during New York Fashion Week, I was excited to learn yesterday that it’s stocked in Fenwicks on Bond Street.

The No. 21 Spring 2012 collection combined feminine and masculine pieces to present a totally wearable collection.

Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s masculine looks included a blue-collared light blue shirt with tapered pants. An oversized top was paired with blue embellished shorts. A sweater was paired with silk boxers and we also saw printed pyjama-like ensembles.

The sexy feminine looks included a cropped knit sweater layered over a blouse which was paired with a check pencil skirt. Bralets were paired with pencil skirts alongside knee-length printed skirts, striped cardigans and a selection of dresses ranging from daywear to evening wear.

The colour palette consisted of light blue, black, white, camel and bronze.

Key accessories included long chains with leather pendants, aqua drop earrings, gold and silver embellished pumps and iPad-thin clutches in plaid and python.

I loved that they played my favourite song during the finale: Pat Benatar’s “Love Is A Battlefield.”

Favourites: Blue top with blue sequin shorts and plaid skirt paired with layered top

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Kate Bosworth, Zoe Saldana, Ginnifer Goodwin, Megan Fox and Camilla Belle
