Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were inspired by Sicilian artwork for Fall 2012 as models took to the runway in cherub tapestry prints and baroque on sleek, sexy silhouettes.

The presentation started with models stepping out of a gold-leafed Baroque picture frame wearing black pieces adorned with gold lace, gold trims and/or gold embroidery before moving onto white frilly blouses, bloomers, skirts and dresses with plenty of frou frou.

The high-on-glamour, bejewelled presentation also served up ladylike Sunday best dresses, ruffled blouses, signature corsets, skirt suits, sheer dresses, cape dresses and pencil skirts plus a section of beautiful floral embroidered pieces.

Key accessories included the Miss Sicily bag in several guises, bejewelled headbands, plenty of gold jewelry, pearl accented bags, knee-high socks, statement necklaces, ankle boots, and wood carven heels in pastel blue and vanilla.

This collection will not only be a huge hit on the red carpet, but those cherub tapestry prints will no doubt appear in a lot of editorials.

Jil Sander Fall 2012

After seven years, Raf Simons presented his last collection for Jil Sander.

Those expecting an all-black send-off would’ve been surprised to see a surprisingly spring-like collection with pastel pinks making up the majority of the collection alongside ecru, black, red and navy.

The theme was everyday woman.

Models with barely-there makeup and their hair pulled back into a simple ponytail made their way around six floral arrangements on the runway, wearing pink, coral or beige pastel robe coats.

Under their coats, they wore lingerie-like dresses with delicately knitted tops and chiffon skirts.

Classically refined black dresses, which were in total contrast to the opening pastel shades, closed the show.

Raf’s send-off was very emotional. Anna Dello Russo and Anna Wintour led the standing ovation for the designer, who returned to the runway after taking his initial bow this time in floods of tears.

There was barely a dry eye in the house.

Key accessories included lust worthy tri-colour slingbacks, clutches and totes.

Versace Fall 2012

The start of the Versace Fall 2012 presentation had a very gothic feel as it opened with black, black and more black looks on models with barely-there eyebrows and blunt cut bangs which made me instantly think of one person: Rooney Mara.

Byzantine cross embroidery adorned most of the pieces which included velvet coats, halter dresses, strapless dresses, turtlenecks and leather-panelled pencil skirts.

Peplums accented the models’ hips much like they did in the Atelier Versace Spring 2012 presentation. These seductive pieces were presented alongside leather fitted dresses with studded details and corsets paired with pencil skirts.

From the dark and mysterious we moved onto colourful mini dresses emblazoned with the Versace logo in bold, graphic lettering. Some may call these pieces tacky, but they were a fun addition to a collection steeped in the spirit of Versace.

The mood instantly changed the second the evening wear was presented.

Jennifer Lopez, Amber Heard and Beyonce Knowles will be fighting over the jaw-dropping chain-linked silver-disc gown which says “Hello bombshell,” whilst Blake Lively and Elizabeth Banks will love the shorter, edgier dresses with cut-out details.

The exciting thing about the presentation is that these pieces have a place on every red carpet from the Grammys, to the Oscars, to Cannes, to premieres and photocalls.

For Spring, Ashley Greene was the first to don a look.

I wonder who will receive that honour for Fall. Hopefully it will be Blake, as she needs to get her sexy-back.

Just Cavalli Fall 2012

Upon entering the venue for the Just Cavalli Fall 2012 presentation during Milan Fashion Week, the first thing I saw was the animal-print lined runway.

The presentation started off with zebra prints, a mix of dark colours with pops of orange and red before moving onto nude and a finale of leopard prints which sent my heart a flutter.

With the inspiration being London’s ‘Swinging Sixties’, we saw mini dresses for the young and leggy. Super-skinny pants, floaty chiffon dresses, slouchy leather pants, cable-knit sweaters, metallic blazers, long-sleeve drop-waist dresses, oversized wool coats, and capes, including an animal-print hooded cape which was one of my favourite pieces of this collection.

Key accessories included Mary Jane shoes and ankle boots with stiletto heels and boots completely covered with glitter or in patent laser treatment to give the effect of lace, plus large and small bags which were also covered in glitter.

Moschino Fall 2012

Moschino presentations are always fun and quirky, which is just what you need to pick you up at a 9am show when your coffee hasn’t kicked in.

The theme for Fall 2012 was military with some biker and cowgirl references mixed in.

On a colour palette of mostly black and white, we also saw scarlet red, canary yellow, electric blue and fuchsia pink.

We saw short, flirty dresses, coats with military epaulettes and brass gold buttons, tri-colour biker jackets, capes which could be worn as dresses, 60s style lady-like dresses, plus plenty of feathers, ruffles and quilting.

The models were styled either with Stetsons or a big black bow, plus they were dripping in gold jewels.

Key accessories included studded or quilted bags, bi-colour backpacks with gold hardware, cute fanny packs and leather ankle boots with gold detailing.
