Kerry Washington’s Glamour October Issue Cover-Shoot

I was so excited to see Kerry Washington – my favourite gal – looking beautiful on the cover of the October 2013 issue of Glamour US.

She was shot for the cover by Peggy Sirota wearing the same Dior Resort 2014 dress we’ve seen on Natalie Portman. The Emmy-nominated actress can be seen wearing very Olivia Pope-esque pieces from Dolce & Gabbana, yet more Dior and Louis Vuitton.

Kerry had much to talk about with the mag, what with her keeping her relationship with Nnamdi Asomugha a secret until they announced they were married, her hit show ‘Scandal’, which has all of America – and me here in London – hooked, and how she keeps her personal life private.

You can pick up this October issue when it hits newsstands September 10, or download the digital issue right now.

On her secret marriage to Nnamdi Asomugha: “I’m walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you. But I’m going to continue to not talk about it and just let it unfold. I don’t want to sound smug about it… but the point is to do what’s best for me. I have girlfriends in this business who talk about their personal lives, and it works for them, and I love it. But not for me.”

On what is in Olivia Pope’s handbag: “Usually folders, pens, the phone on the show, and often a bottle of water to add a nice weight to the bag. And some panties in one episode!”

On keeping her personal life private: “I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life. I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. I was on the cover of a bridal magazine. But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘OK, no more.’”

Anne Hathaway sports that lovely big smile on the cover of the January 2013 cover of Glamour US, which was shot by Alexei Hay.

Sporting a fun, funky look, the actress wears a Monrow tank and Clover Canyon briefs on the cover, while inside she wears the stunning yellow Alexander McQueen gown recently worn by Rosamund Pike.

In the January 2013 Glamour issue, which is out now, Anne opens up about her husband, her dramatic weight loss, her hair, a cause she wants you to know about and why she wants you to just dance.

On her marriage to Adam Shulman: “I feel like I’ve found my other half, and I’m so excited about getting to love him for the rest of our lives. I would never have gotten married if it weren’t for him. You have to want to be married to someone. You have to feel that reciprocated. Marriage for marriage’s sake doesn’t make any sense to me, and I found someone with whom I could put my money where my mouth is, I guess.”

On her hubby: “He’s a good man. He’s beyond intelligent. He loves fearlessly. His beliefs are beautiful. He’s my best friend. I love him. I just feel that I have the greatest husband in the world for me. You know, we get a lot of pressure to define ourselves as women by how wild we are: How many guys did you sleep with? How drunk did you get? And we all bow to that. We’ve all done that walk of shame at one point or another.”

On her dramatic weight loss: “I still feel the stress over ‘Am I thin enough? Am I too thin? Is my body the right shape?’ There’s an obsessive quality to it that I thought I would’ve grown out of by now. It’s an ongoing source of shame for me.”

On the One Billion Rising campaign: “It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that a billion women have been raped or beaten, just the enormity of that. When I was in college, I’d heard that one in four women would be raped, and I thought, God, that means I must know someone who was raped. Sure enough, I found out a week later that a friend had been. A billion is too big because one is too big.”

Country singer Taylor Swift sparkles on the cover of the November 2012 issue for Glamour US wearing a Burberry London tank, Dior skirt and belt and a Tiffany & Co. diamond bracelet.

The rest of her editorial, which was shot by Ellen von Unwerth, sees her wearing Jill Stuart, Marc Jacobs and Erin by Erin Fetherston.

With her new album ‘Red’ in stores October 22nd, a huge tour expected in 2013, plus a lot of tabloid attention surrounding her recent romance with Conor Kennedy, Taylor is firmly in the spotlight.

In the magazine, which hits newsstands nationwide on October 9th, she opens up about her career, her friends, and her own latest “love story”.

Here are some extracts from her Glamour US interview.

On the importance of having girlfriends: “They are so important in my life right now. I’m the kind of girl who needs to tell her friends everything. I’ve developed this really close-knit group of girls. Two of my close friends are bandmates.”

On her friendship with Emma Stone and Selena Gomez: “I met Emma when I was 17, and I met Selena when I was 18. So they’ve experienced all of this with me, and they’ve also experienced their own amazing success, and somehow through all of it, we’ve stayed close.”

On being misunderstood: “I think some people think it’s just apple pie and sunshine and sprinkles and ponies. Which is just funny. But I never feel the need to go out and make some grand statement that I’m dark and twisty and complicated, because I’m not that either. It’s just not as simple as ponies and rainbows, though I do love ponies and rainbows.”

On if she is wary of people using her for her fame and money: I think you can tell who’s a good person to be around, who makes you laugh, who’s fun, whom you can trust. And, yes, you’re going to get burned a few times, but I’d really rather get burned a few times than sit alone in that house with the curtains drawn. So God forbid this person you’re hanging out with gets a bit of validation out of the fact you’re famous. Is that the worst-case scenario? You know, it doesn’t seem that bad.

Elizabeth Olsen, one of the breakout stars of 2011, features in Glamour’s September Full-On Fashion issue which is out now.

The indie actress has carved a niche for herself as one of those rare cool girls who doesn’t take themselves too seriously, plus she has a knack of always looking amazing on the red carpet.

Wearing a Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 look that includes the now very popular owl-print tee and a full Ralph Lauren look in her editorial, Elizabeth talks about her passions, school, clothes and her new role in this month’s romance ‘Liberal Arts’.

I can’t wait for her return to the red carpet.

Go to Glamour.com for more on Elizabeth’s feature. Below are some extracts from her interview:

On her family name: “My last name has always been my motivator to get proper acting training and be taken seriously. I didn’t get to where I am because of who I’m related to.”

On juggling school and her career: “I love school, but I got cast in Martha [Marcy May Marlene] while I was at New York University. So I was like, screw it. I’ll take this semester off. I’m still trying to figure out how I can finish my degree while doing all this!”

On dealing with fame: “Yesterday three people told me that I look like Elizabeth Olsen. That’s never happened before. So awkward.”

Victoria Beckham wore nothing but bubbles and a Stephen Russell tiara on the cover of the much-anticipated Glamour US September 2012 issue.

Pamela Hanson captures the designer wearing considerably more for the rest of her editorial, including a Victoria Beckham Fall 2012 dress, of course, plus an orange lace top by Lover.

Victoria talked to Glamour about her work, her marriage, her thoughts on Fifty Shades of Grey, how she reinvented her life, why she’d never say never to having another baby and she also shared that she would love to see Chloe Moretz, Clémence Poésy, and Kate Bosworth grace future covers of Glamour.

The designer not only features in the magazine, she also guest edited Glamour’s first-ever “Full-On Fashion” issue with Cindi Leive, which will be available on newsstands and online Aug 7.

Check out Victoria Beckham’s Twitter feed for exclusive photos from her cover shoot or for more information head on over to Glamour.com to read Victoria’s editor note.

On guest editing the September issue: “It’s been exciting for me to see my ideas come to life, from type colors to photo selection to casting. I even made my own list of Glamour fashion Don’ts to keep out of the issue: boat shoes (unless of course you’re designer Alber Elbaz or on a boat!), Bermuda shorts, nose rings, Crocs, and American tan tights (that’s nude pantyhose to you).”

On why she is never seen smiling: “Do you know, I don’t know?! I actually used to smile a lot in pictures. I think I only stopped smiling when I got into fashion. [Laughs.] Fashion stole my smile! I’ve created this person. And I’m not saying that’s not me, but I wouldn’t say that’s the whole me…. It’s an armor that goes up.” Read more…

Mila Kunis graces the cover of the August 2012 issue of Glamour US.

The charming actress with a smouldering glare was photographed by Alexei Hay wearing a Club Monaco shirt, Current/Elliott jeans, a Rag & Bone hat and a Minor Obsessions star necklace on the cover.

In the pictures below Mila looks like she’s gearing up for the autumn wearing a Burberry Brit sweater with Zadig & Voltaire shorts whilst sitting on a yellow fire escape. In the other picture she enjoys an ice cream wearing a Dolce & Gabbana bustier with Habitual shorts.

Mila talks to Glamour about her new movie, ‘Ted’ which hit theaters today (June 29th), tabloid rumors, and loving her body 25 pounds later.

Glamour’s August issue is available on newsstands and nationwide on July 10th.

On not knowing what its like to date:
GLAMOUR: Have you ever thought of just putting up a profile that doesn’t have your photo?
MK: No. Because, ultimately, what’s going to happen? I show up to coffee.… I’m OK in my personal life. I’ve never dated. I can say this honestly: I don’t know what it’s like to date. But also, how am I going to date? I’m not in one state long enough. Read more…

I have been excited to learn that many of you are crushing on Solange Knowles’ style too.

She showcases her quirky and individual style for Glamour France for their July 2012 issue.

The DJ rocks her signature larger-than-life afro in her 80s-influenced editorial where we also get to see her wearing a Louis Vuitton scarf as a turban.

In her editorial we see Solange sports statement sunglasses, a tailored Just Cavalli blazer, a tie-dye Ralph Lauren denim jacket, a printed DVF jumpsuit, a Diesel Black Gold metallic jacket, the pink Acne dress I have been crushing on for a long while, a paisley-print Jil Sander skirt, and many other brightly coloured pieces. A boombox is also added into the mix.

Check out the amazing editorial below.

Here are some translated extracts from her interview.

On the secret to her style: [My style is] very eclectic as I like to take risks, but I always cling to glamourous touches and classic details. I’m not necessarily inspired by magazines or fashion. I surf a lot on blogs and find it cool to see real style from real people. My travels also influence me. I always take lots of pictures, and then inject all those inspirations into my wardrobe, my home decor, or my makeup. And we can’t forget the icons: Diana Ross, Erykah Badu, Bjork, and Lauryn Hill.
