Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Met Gala 2013

Here is a roundup of the rest of the ladies who took to the red carpet for the 2013 Met Gala on Monday evening. Models @ The Met post will follow.

Brooklyn Decker: The actress wore a custom Peter Pilotto look inspired by the Spring 2013 collection. While the look is custom I feel like I have seen this look several times before, so there is nothing fresh or new about it, unlike other custom looks as showcased by Karolina Kurkova and several others. Her Sergio Rossi ‘Hypnos’ sandals, however, are a work of art.

Alicia Keys: The singer took to the red carpet wearing a custom Jason Wu gown. Her black leather and bordeaux sequin embroidered halter gown is beautiful, but I wish Alicia had pushed the punk vibe with the styling a bit more; the red streaks in her hair aren’t enough for me, especially when we know Alicia isn’t afraid of taking a fashion risk. Robert Lee Morris jewels and a vintage clutch completed her look.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: The actress wore a beautiful custom Calvin Klein scarlet gown for the occasion which was punked up as far as she would go with a studded choker and a Tod’s black studded clutch with a gold frame. While I do love this look, I wish Maggie had gone bra shopping before this event.

Christina Ricci went mad for plaid at the 2013 Met Gala, hosted on Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Rather appropriately, given the evening’s controversial theme, the actress relied on the queen of punk herself, Vivienne Westwood, to outfit her for the red carpet.

After last year’s jaw-dropping gown, Christina had big shoes to fill. And she did with this poufy, high-low couture gown that was gloriously adventurous and anti-establishment.

Pointy-toe Casadei platform pumps and black tights, natch, were necessary additions.

She infused some old-Hollywood glam into this punkish statement with her sparkling Harry Winston earrings and cuffs and her retro, side-parted pin curls, which elevated this moment to another level.

A hot red-orange lippie polished off the look.

Alice Eve In Vivienne Westwood Red Label - 'Star Trek Into Darkness' After-Party

Alice Eve attended the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ after-party held at Aqua in London on Thursday evening.

Giving the photogs a wry smile the star changed out of her Ermanno Scervino dress into a Vivienne Westwood Red Label sexy black dress with a random pocket.

Her drape-shoulder dress with a reinforced bust and corsetry for a perfect fit was styled with black ankle boots.

Despite not being a fan of ankle boots with dresses I can occasionally overlook this type of styling; on this occasion they don’t get a pass – in fact they have no business being near this dress.

From the ankles up, she’s working it once again.

I know you guys hated them, but I would to see her bring back the bangs.

Matthew McConaughey In Vivienne Westwood MAN - 'Mud' New York Screening

Matthew McConaughey attended a screening of his movie ‘Mud’ held at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Sunday.

The actor, who made a lot of changes to his physical appearance for this role, made a pretty drastic change to his red carpet look.

Known for wearing Dolce & Gabbana pretty exclusively during his career, the actor opted for a Vivienne Westwood MAN suit on this occasion.

Not just any suit: a navy-and-burgundy plaid suit featuring a notched-lapel blazer with an attached button-front vest and a logo-engraved-button-accented chain closure.

You may remember that Nick Cannon wore a similar-style suit recently.

I love this new look for Matthew. He has done the Italian sleek suit for so long that I appreciate him adding some British eccentricity to his red carpet look.

Do you?

Kate Hudson was the runaway winner for this week’s Best Dressed, wearing a heavenly Reem Acra gown.

Her sweetheart-neckline gown, which was impeccably styled, couldn’t have been more perfect for the Tiffany & Co. Ball.

The biggest surprise was that Eddie Redmayne didn’t win the menswear vote; you picked the gorgeous Chris Pine, who looked dapper in his double-breasted Louis Vuitton suit.

I loved Zachary Levi wearing a slick Vivienne Westwood MAN grey slim-fit suit with a bold yellow tie.

Eva Longoria's 'Ready for Love' Promo Tour

Taking a break from acting, Eva Longoria’s latest project is a reality TV show, ‘Ready for Love’. On Monday, she was spotted out in New York City doing the rounds promoting the show, which aims to find America’s most eligible guys searching for their soul mates. Sound familiar?

The Today Show: The host kick started her day on the Today show, where she wore a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania black cotton off-the-shoulder peplum blouse teamed with black lace Amber Sakai skinny leggings from the Fall 2012 collection. Jimmy Choo black pumps and glossy side-swept wavy locks completed her look.

Live with Kelly and Michael: Opting for a dress on this occasion, Eva donned a dark-brown Todd Lynn dress with draped sleeves, which she styled with Christian Louboutin suede boots.

New York Hotel: Her final look, as she headed back to her hotel following a busy morning, was an ivory Alexander McQueen leopard-print jacquard-knit fitted dress, styled with black Jimmy Choo pumps and dark shades.

All three looks are abysmal. Honestly, I don’t know what she (or her stylist) was thinking. The Westwood top looks awkward and seems like it needs adjustment to make it work. The Todd Lynn is by far the worst: not only because of the muddy brown, but also the extra material around her waist is terribly unflattering. The McQueen is the best of a bad bunch, but styling a summery dress with black pumps has never sat well with me.

Bring on Cannes Film Festival; that seems to be the only time when Eva really shines.
