Even though we are a few days into Venice Film Festival, it was ‘Teen Wolf’ star Holland Roden who was your best dressed this week.
When I saw the actress wearing this unique Naeem Khan embellished pant-ballgown hybrid look with her signature bold lip, I had a Meg Ryan ‘When Harry Met Sally’ moment, while some of you felt the piece was too grand for the VMAs, preferring to have seen this look on the red carpet at the upcoming Emmy Awards.
Setting herself apart from the rest is the very reason she won this week.
When it came to the fellas our choices differed.
You guys voted for Adam Lambert in his shiny grey Lanvin suit with perfectly coiffed hair and just the right amount of makeup to add some drama to his look.
I just loved the sleekness of Darren Criss’ Versace suit with glitter-toe-cap Christian Louboutin flats. At times the ‘Glee’ star can look like he’s wearing a school uniform on the red carpet, but on this occasion he really stood out.
Nicolas Cage: The actor attended a photocall for his latest movie, ‘Joe’ during Venice Film Festival this afternoon wearing a Versace head-to-toe look. He donned one-button blue peak lapel Versace suit jacket with a white button-down Versace shirt with subtle gold medusa button detail at the neck. He completed his relaxed photocall look perfectly with black Versace pants.
Kevin Zegers: The actor joined Lily Collins in Mexico for the premiere of their latest movie, ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.’ He donned grey striped Tommy Hilfiger three-piece suit with a striped white shirt and black tie. I am not a fan of the fit of the suit, I wish it was more slim-fit. Christian Louboutin ‘New Platers’ flats and a Baum et Mercier timepiece completed his look.
Hugh Jackman: The Australian actor joined his two co-stars Tao Okamoto joined Rila Fukushima for ‘The Wolverine’ Tokyo premiere wearing a black suit with a white dress shirt. Sometimes simple and classic works best.
Leave it to last night’s 2013 MTV Video Music Awards to bring out the unexpected, with an eclectic mix of sartorial sass, surprisingly understated appeal and sheer shock factor. But, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the men’s looks were nearly as colourful as the daring drama queens themselves.
Darren Criss: Clad in an aubergine Versace one-button peak lapel suit, the ‘Glee’ cutie completed his look with a black-and-white Versace pocket square, a black button-down shirt and contrasting dark-blue tie, not to mention Christian Louboutin ‘Bruno Orlato Glitter’ flat loafers. Any guy who boldly goes for glitter and eggplant gets my vote.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Adding a touch of the unexpected to his light heather-grey Prada suit, the actor wore a cerulean-blue shirt. A thin black tie and black brogues finished out the look.
Miles Teller: ‘The Spectacular’ Now star made a more casual entrance with his Second Sunday grey shirt and Andrew Marc black jeans, amped up with an oxblood Giorgio Armani jacket.
Following her dramatic red carpet look which kick-started her glamorous night at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday evening, Rita Ora did a quick change before taking to her seat.
There were many more lovely ladies who attended the InStyle Summer Soiree held at the Mondrian Los Angeles in West Hollywood, California yesterday evening.
Darby Stanchfield: The ‘Scandal’ actress instantly caught my eye, not only because of the striking contrast between her gorgeous flame-red beehive and electric-blue drop-waist Paper London dress, but mostly because of her pronounced eyebrows, which gave the look a futuristic vibe, further punctuated by her sculptural Kzeniya clutch and Emporio Armani silver pumps.
Ashley Tisdale: Although this sleeveless Clover Canyon ‘Orchid Trip’ neoprene dress is very much expected from Ashley, I love the soft pastel pieces styled with the look. The black clutch is very much the odd man out here.
Analeigh Tipton: The actress was one of many who also opted for neutral tones, wearing a chic tunic top and matching trousers by Ermanno Scervino accented with a black waistband. Opting not to go with black accessories, she wore white Casadei sandals and carried a gold Stark clutch, with Dannijo earrings completing the look.
Lily Collins made a guest appearance on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ to promote her latest movie ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ yesterday evening.
Continuing the bold-outfit, bolder-dark-lip-colour trend which earned her the most-commented post yesterday, she opted for an eye-catching neon-yellow Versace Resort 2014 dress with a blood-red lip colour.
As much as I love the long-sleeved mummy-like bodycon ruched wrap dress against her pale skin tone, I prefer the shorter length as presented in the look book.
No prizes for guessing that I am also not a fan of the heavy dark-green Casadei platform shoes, especially when those sexy Versace sandals are making my heart ache.
Are the length of Lily’s dress and her shoe choice killing your love for this look too?
