Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Naomi Watts In Versace - 'Diane' World Premiere

Naomi Watts attended the world premiere of ‘Diana’ held at The Odeon Leicester Square in London this evening.

I was hoping for a BDOTY wow moment, yet sadly I feel totally underwhelmed.

Naomi wore a white Versace gown with a Liz Hurley-esque side slit, keyhole detail and asymmetrical neckline – but that’s not the underwhelming part. That has been reserved for the accessories – sans the Chopard jewels, of course.

The black Christian Louboutin ‘Hyper Prive’ peep-toes and black Edie Parker clutch mute the look, plus I am also turned off by the shiny makeup – yes, it was a very mild evening – and the lacklustre hair.

Sorry, but for such a grand occasion I was expecting more. A lot more.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley In Versace - GQ Men of the Year Awards

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley joined many celebs on the red carpet at The Royal Opera House in London this evening for the 2013 GQ Men Of The Year Awards.

The Versace Fall 2013 collection wasn’t my favourite, with far too many PVC dresses for my personal tastes, but I have to say Rosie is selling this form-fitting white PVC dress with thin metallic straps to me.

That could have a lot to do with the simple styling of this look: stripping back the runway OTT-ness and presenting a cleaner, fresher look, with python Louboutins and flawless makeup rounding off the look.

Does Rosie manage to sell this white PVC dress to you?

Scarlett Johansson In Atelier Versace - 'Under The Skin' Venice Film Festival Premiere

I wrote Scarlett Johansson off just a second too early because she was back to her best while attending the ‘Under The Skin’ Venice Film Festival premiere held at Sala Grande in Venice, Italy this evening.

Her va-va-voom is back in all its spine-tingling, goose-bump inducing form as the blonde beauty poured her womanly curves into a black Versace off-the-shoulder gown.

The gown which features a fitted bodice, gathered detail at the hip and light embellishments on the arms was styled with a breath-taking Bulgari High Jewellery necklace which almost does the impossible by upstaging her dress – I said almost.

This gown has been a long time coming and will definitely take pride of place in my BDOTY contenders list.

Is this gown that good for you? Or are you just happy for the return of the ScarJo’s va-va-voom?

Best Dressed Of The Week - Holland Roden In Naeem Khan, Adam Lambert In Lanvin & Darren Criss In Versace

Even though we are a few days into Venice Film Festival, it was ‘Teen Wolf’ star Holland Roden who was your best dressed this week.

When I saw the actress wearing this unique Naeem Khan embellished pant-ballgown hybrid look with her signature bold lip, I had a Meg Ryan ‘When Harry Met Sally’ moment, while some of you felt the piece was too grand for the VMAs, preferring to have seen this look on the red carpet at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

Setting herself apart from the rest is the very reason she won this week.

When it came to the fellas our choices differed.

You guys voted for Adam Lambert in his shiny grey Lanvin suit with perfectly coiffed hair and just the right amount of makeup to add some drama to his look.

I just loved the sleekness of Darren Criss’ Versace suit with glitter-toe-cap Christian Louboutin flats. At times the ‘Glee’ star can look like he’s wearing a school uniform on the red carpet, but on this occasion he really stood out.

Menswear Roundup

Here is a quick roundup of menswear this week.

Nicolas Cage: The actor attended a photocall for his latest movie, ‘Joe’ during Venice Film Festival this afternoon wearing a Versace head-to-toe look. He donned one-button blue peak lapel Versace suit jacket with a white button-down Versace shirt with subtle gold medusa button detail at the neck. He completed his relaxed photocall look perfectly with black Versace pants.

Kevin Zegers: The actor joined Lily Collins in Mexico for the premiere of their latest movie, ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.’ He donned grey striped Tommy Hilfiger three-piece suit with a striped white shirt and black tie. I am not a fan of the fit of the suit, I wish it was more slim-fit. Christian Louboutin ‘New Platers’ flats and a Baum et Mercier timepiece completed his look.

Hugh Jackman: The Australian actor joined his two co-stars Tao Okamoto joined Rila Fukushima for ‘The Wolverine’ Tokyo premiere wearing a black suit with a white dress shirt. Sometimes simple and classic works best.

VMAs Men1

Leave it to last night’s 2013 MTV Video Music Awards to bring out the unexpected, with an eclectic mix of sartorial sass, surprisingly understated appeal and sheer shock factor. But, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the men’s looks were nearly as colourful as the daring drama queens themselves.

Darren Criss: Clad in an aubergine Versace one-button peak lapel suit, the ‘Glee’ cutie completed his look with a black-and-white Versace pocket square, a black button-down shirt and contrasting dark-blue tie, not to mention Christian Louboutin ‘Bruno Orlato Glitter’ flat loafers. Any guy who boldly goes for glitter and eggplant gets my vote.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Adding a touch of the unexpected to his light heather-grey Prada suit, the actor wore a cerulean-blue shirt. A thin black tie and black brogues finished out the look.

Miles Teller: ‘The Spectacular’ Now star made a more casual entrance with his Second Sunday grey shirt and Andrew Marc black jeans, amped up with an oxblood Giorgio Armani jacket.

Rita Ora In Versace - 2013 MTV Video Music Awards #VMAs

Following her dramatic red carpet look which kick-started her glamorous night at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday evening, Rita Ora did a quick change before taking to her seat.

It was a wise move, otherwise her feather-accented Alexandre Vauthier train would’ve got trampled to shreds.

With the return of her signature red lip, her second look was a Versace Fall 2013 leather-embossed sleeveless dress styled with matching red patent Christian Louboutin pumps.

A selection of silver-and-onyx jewels, including a Chanel bracelet, styled her second BDOTW-worthy look.

I’m often on the fence leaning firmly to the left when it comes to Rita’s style, but she totally knocked it out of the fashion ball park last night.
