Cara Delevingne In Chanel Couture – 2017 Met Gala

Cara Delevingne made quite the impression at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

The model-actress recently went from a platinum bob to an all-out shaved head for her role in ‘Life in a Year,’ and she took full advantage of her freshly buzzed-off locks by painting her scalp silver and embellishing it with crystal dots—to match her embellished Chanel Fall 2016 Couture ensemble, naturally.

The galactic-metallic look was a blast of disco-ball blitz and space-age glitz. But, ironically, it’s her bald, alien-chic beauty that will likely be one of the most lasting impressions of the night.

No need to go for gold, when silver looks this good.

Evan Rachel Wood In Altuzarra – 2017 Met Gala

Evan Rachel Wood attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The ‘Westworld’ actress wore an Altuzarra pantsuit with classic black pumps and clutch.

This pantsuit is cool. First and foremost, I love that it’s pants–An Evan Rachel signature, and a fun change of pace for the evening. I also easy it looks to wear, despite the detailed beading on the bodice. Of course, a train with pants is always a fun fashion treat, and while I actually might like the bodice a bit more if it weren’t asymmetrical, I’m not going to nitpick this lovely look.

And then we get to the beauty side of things. I love going for it when it comes to drama and themes. I really do, but unfortunately, the only thing it seems that Evan Rachel went for was a campy Halloween costume.

The over-the-top eye and brow makeup in addition to the hair color doesn’t read edgy to me. It read DIY gone wrong.

Am I missing a really fabulous beauty point, or do you agree that that hair and makeup just aren’t working?

Emmy Rossum In Carolina Herrera – 2017 Met Gala

Emmy Rossum was also in attendance at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

Leave it to Emmy to bring the ultimate sense of mod yet refined elegance to the proceedings with this Carolina Herrera masterpiece.

I love how the whoosh of the extravagant flourish and train at the side elevated the minimalist spirit of the fusion look. From one side, it was a flowing white gown; from the other, a study in menswear-chic tailoring.

All together, it was a sleekly sophisticated moment with Emmy’s low bun, sparkling jewels, and red lip only adding to the perfect style equation.

Miranda Kerr In Oscar de la Renta – 2017 Met Gala

Miranda Kerr attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

I was completely charmed by the supermodel’s Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 gown, which I imagine she spent much of the night twirling around in.

Lovely and ladylike, the embroidered dress had a distinct vintage sensibility, which Miranda likewise embraced in her retro bun and red lip.

But it was the bouncy, voluminously sculpted proportions of the skirt that garnered my true affection; she nearly reminded me of one of those precious wind-up dolls in a music box.

Léa Seydoux In Louis Vuitton – 2017 Met Gala

Léa Seydoux walked the blue carpet at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The French actress wore a Louis Vuitton gown that

I appreciate this from a fashion standpoint. The lace panels in the two front slits are creative and a breath of fresh air with such a heavy look. I love the nod to the 90s with the ‘tank over a shirt’ look, and this print is nothing, if not eye-catching. Yet, I’m still having a hard time with it.

At the end of the day, this simply isn’t flattering on Léa, and that is the most important element to any item of clothing!

So: Fashion forward or fashion flounder?

Brie Larson In Chanel – 2017 Met Gala

Brie Larson looks regal at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The actress wore a Chanel Pre-Fall 2017 gown with gold peep-toed sandals.

The detailing on this gown is the stuff of fashion dreams. Brie looks like a million fashion bucks, and I sure she feels like it, too.

I’m equally as smitten with her silver-rimmed smokey eyes and deeply side-parted old Hollywood waved updo.

But here’s a question: Is this stunning gown enough to get her on Best Dressed lists for this night? Or are there simply too many other, more dramatic options?

Ruby Rose In Burberry – 2017 Met Gala

Ruby Rose attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The actress let her Burberry gown shine without accessorizing it with anything beyond her extensive tattoos.

Am I crazy, or is this gown just a little too run-of-the-mill for the Met Gala? I feel like on any other red carpet, I would look upon it much more favorably, but it is striking me as just a bit blasé here.

Maybe it just feels too demure against Ruby’s tattoo sleeves and endlessly cool hair?

I need your opinions! Yay or nay on this look, on this night?
