Maggie Gyllenhaal In Valentino - 2014 Met Gala2Maggie Gyllenhaal was among the constellation of stars at the 2014 Met Gala, hosted on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The actress, who seemed to be flaunting an even more platinum-blonde pixie cut, connected the dots in a Valentino Fall 2014 jewel-toned number, which she wore two ways: with the matching cape and without.

Perhaps it’s circle overload, but I still crave the drama that the cape delivers to the more monastic silhouette of the long-sleeve dress.

In fact, I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen quite so many circles, but the Italian Pop Art-inspired design certainly brought its own measure of artsy punch to the Met steps.

You may recall Hailee Steinfeld wore a shorter version of a similarly circle-dotted dress. So what do you think of the semi-repeat occurrence at the Met Ball?

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Kate Mara makes a bold choice on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress wore a uniquely printed Valentino Couture Spring 2014 gown with a sheer neckline and sleeves.

I am drawn in by this ensemble, but at closer look I can’t say that I love it. I always appreciate a risk, but this one doesn’t quite do it for me. The silhouette of the dress is stunning, but the combination of texture, pattern and color prevent me from embracing it.

There is no doubt that the gown is a work of art. The detail is breathtaking and the cape on the back is a very cool addition.

Although I don’t love the color, I do like how Mara’s tousled platinum blonde waves and shimmery makeup look with it. I wish I wasn’t so torn about this look. How do you feel about it?

Gia Coppola In Valentino - ‘Palo Alto’ San Francisco Film Festival Premiere

Gia Coppola joined Emma Roberts on the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Palo Alto’ held during San Francisco International Film Festival on Saturday (May 3) in San Francisco, California.

Dressed in head-to-toe black, you’d be forgiven if you thought her Valentino off-the-shoulder Pre-Fall 2014 cape dress was Balenciaga, as this dress has similar traits to the one we’ve seen worn by Zoe Kravitz and Ni Ni.

Styled with a Roger Vivier clutch, the filmmaker completed her look with strappy gold-accented black sandals.

Yvonne Strahovski In Valentino - '24 Live Another Day' World Premiere

Yvonne Strahovski attended the ’24: Live Another Day’ world premiere held at Intrepid Sea on Friday (May 2) in New York City.

Donning a short-sleeved suede Valentino romper featuring drop shoulders, boxy sleeves, an A-line waist and pleated shorts, the open neckline injects a subtle allure into a sleek and streamlined silhouette.

Opting to jazz up the look with Christian Louboutin multi-coloured print pumps, the rest of her styling, including drop earrings and a gold Roger Vivier clutch, was kept subtle.

A wavy updo, kohl-rimmed eyes and nude lips rounded out her look.

BDOTW 5 May

Emma Stone took home the prize for best dressed of the week for a second time in a row, this time for her red Valentino mini dress styled with Valentino ankle-strap shoes.

It’s early days yet, but Emma is surely in contention for best promo-tour star of 2014.

I had a really tough decision this week, between Ashley Madekwe in Lanvin and Lucy Liu in Proenza Schouler. No surprises that I ended up opting for the latter.

Lucy can adapt to just about any style. She doesn’t work an edgier angle often, so this look was a pleasant, well-styled and well-executed change.

Emma Stone In Valentino - Good Moring America

Emma Stone was spotted making her way to the ABC Times Square Studios in New York City on Tuesday (April 29) prior to her guest appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ to continue to promote ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′.

Showing her love for all things Valentino once again, the actress wore a Fall 2014 colour-block dress featuring a white pointy-collared top and a black and red pleated full skirt, lending a flirty profile to this youthful look.

I love the marriage of ladylike charm and contemporary charisma. She has, as expected, been a delight to watch during this promo tour.

Taking a rare time out from wearing her favoured footwear by Monsieur Louboutin, she completed her head-to-toe Valentino look with their much loved ‘Rockstud’ pumps.
