Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

men 1

With the GQ Men of the Year Awards as well as a few other key premieres, the men have made a fine showing the past few days. Here, a look at their ensembles.

David Gandy: Forever cutting a striking profile, David showed us all how a classic tux should be worn at the GQ Men of the Year Awards at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday (September 8).

Jake Gyllenhaal: The double-breasted coat isn’t always easy to wear, but Jake pulls it off in this head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble at the ‘Everest’ premiere at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday (September 9). The baby-blue shirt, which reflected his eyes, was the best decision here.

Samuel L. Jackson: Acting as host of the GQ Men of the Year Awards, the actor was debonair in a polished Giorgio Armani head-to-toe look. I loved the monochromatic nature of the ensemble elevated by the slight contrast of the satin lapels and metallic bow tie.

Alba Rohrwacher attended the premiere of ‘Blood Of My Blood’ during the 2015 Venice Film Festival on Tuesday (September 8) in Venice, Italy.

Like Tilda Swinton, I’m always blown away by Alba’s red carpet style.

The Italian actress continues to place her faith in all things Valentino, and they repaid her with this simple, yet stunning red pleated Couture gown.

Some might be put off by the nude lining, but I think this gives the piece a lighter-than-air quality which enabled her to glide down the red carpet with such unassuming grace.

Dakota Johnson In Valentino – ‘Black Mass’ Venice Film Festival Photocall

Dakota Johnson In Valentino - 'Black Mass' Venice Film Festival Photocall

Dakota Johnson attended the photocall for ‘Black Mass’ during the 2015 Venice Film Festival at Palazzo del Casino on Friday (September 4) in Venice, Italy.

Evoking the mystique of a darker age, Dakota wore a Valentino Resort 2016 dress which harks back to the Victoriana era with a bullet ladder stitch high neck and elongated bodice panel that flatters the figure with undiluted finesse.

Jimmy Choo ‘Lucille’ sandals were all that were added to this gorgeous look from Dakota who is fast becoming one of my red carpet faves.

‘Everest’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony Red Carpet Roundup

A bevy of more beauties were also in attendance at the ‘Everest’ premiere, which was held as part of the opening ceremony of the 2015 Venice Film Festival on Wednesday (September 2) in Venice, Italy.

Fiammetta Cicogna
: Also channeling her inner artiste, the Italian actress selected an Alberta Ferretti gown. Given the rather ornate, museum-quality print, she kept her hair in loose waves and wore barely-there makeup for a fresh, youthful tone.

Alessandra Ambrosio: While the model, of course, could look good in a bed sheet, I see this sheer, lacy wisp of a Philosophy dress more appropriate for a breezy, beachside evening rather than the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival. To that end, the striking diamond jewels were a bit extravagant.

Kasia Smutniak In Valentino – ‘Everest’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Kasia Smutniak In Valentino - ‘Everest’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony

Kasia Smutniak was also among the stars at the attended the ‘Everest’ premiere which was part of the opening ceremony of the 2015 Venice Film Festival on Wednesday (September 2) in Venice, Italy.

The Valentino devotee had no change in designer affections here as she donned a gown from the Fall 2015 collection.

The first thought that springs to mind upon seeing this look is just how artistically it was conceptualized—from the layered pieces of bronzed-laced flutter panels to the sculptural neckline.

It’s not necessarily an easy silhouette to portray, but she does so with the utmost sophistication and grace.
