2017 Oscars Menswear Roundup

A handsome handful of guys also took to the red carpet for the 2017 Oscars on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood, California.

David Oyelowo: The sharp suaveness of this Dolce & Gabbana tux, with its white dress jacket and contrast black labels, was undeniable. Christian Louboutin ‘Dada’ loafers capped off the look with a touch of polish.

Andrew Garfield: The classic black tuxedo received a slim-line, slightly cropped proportion in this Tom Ford number.

Riz Ahmed: Our third rendition of the tux came courtesy of Riz, who took his to more colourful territory in a blue Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit accented with Montblanc studs and cufflinks and Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male’ shoes. For a couture piece, I would have expected a slightly more precise fit.

Ruth Negga In Valentino Couture – 2017 Oscars

Ruth Negga was one of the first stars to hit the red carpet of the 2017 Oscars on Sunday night (February 26).

The actress wore a long-sleeved, red Valentino Couture gown with Irene Neuwirth and Gemfields jewels.

The high neckline and lace detailing on the gown are elegant and dramatic, and this total look is a stand-out, despite being quite understated.

I love Ruth’s Crown, earrings & ring are designed by Irene Neuwirth and feature responsibly sourced Gemfeilds Mozambican Rubies, and the blue ribbon in support of ACLU.

All in all, a truly lovely look, and a great way to kick off the night.

Riz Ahmed In Valentino – 2017 Elle Style Awards

After seeing Riz Ahmed’s sharp Burberry suit at the BAFTAs we knew he was one to watch; and that quickly proved to be the case when we saw him at Monday night’s Elle Style Awards.

Taking home the ‘Actor of the Year’ award for ‘The Night Of’ and ‘Rogue One’, the actor donned a Valentino suit.

When you look at menswear collections they’re practically begging men to be more adventurous with their outfits, so I am delighted to see Riz is up for the challenge by wearing a full-on floral and star print suit.

This works for me because the look doesn’t have a chintzy feel plus going sans tie allowed the look to feel less fussy and stay on the fashion forward track.

The look was styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo’ shoes.

Laura Pausini In Valentino Couture – 2017 Grammy Awards

Laura Pausini attended the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12).

The singer wore a long-sleeved, black Valentino Couture gown from the Fall 2016 collection.

To say that this dress leaves much to be desired is quite the understatement for me. It is just so ‘meh’.

However, a couple of tweaks could have really helped things–getting her dark hair pulled up and off of the dark dress would have helped, and some sort of really eye-catching jewelry, like the necklace we see on the runway, would have also elevated the look dramatically.

You may recall that Nicole Kidman wore the shorter version of the look last month, and losing some of the length helps a lot for me.

Am I missing the point, or are you equally underwhelmed?

2017 BAFTAs Red Carpet Roundup

More stars were also seen at the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

Hannah Bagshawe: Bringing more ethereal glamour to the red carpet, Hannah looked simply sensational in this fully embroidered Alexander McQueen dress.

Eddie Redmayne: Working a monochrome look from Dior Homme, Eddie was one of the best dressed men for me. Simple, elegant and spot on.

Daisy Ridley: This is one of my favourite dresses from the night actually. Roland Mouret knows how to do statement chic, and I love the mix of black, red and white, plus the floral print panels. There’s a lot going on, but it all works well together, including the Jimmy Choo ‘Tower’ pumps.

Caitriona Balfe In Valentino – 2017 BAFTAs

Caitriona Balfe attended the 2017 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

The ‘Outlander’ actress continued the statement-making trend for this red carpet in this Valentino Spring 2017 dress with a Hayward clutch.

This will definitely divide a lot of people. Some will think it’s perfect for this actress, that the colours clash wonderfully and the drop-waist flatters her. Others will think there’s one too many hues, one too many fabrics.

I personally like it. I’m all for clashing colours and textures, and I love the metallic pleated skirt. The one thing I could have lost are the ruffles on the sleeves, I don’t think they bring anything extra to the gown.

Are you for or against this look?

Monica Bellucci In Valentino – ‘La Traviata’ Valencia Premiere

The ‘La Traviata’ premiere took place on Thursday (February 9) in Valencia, Spain.

What was so special about this night?

Well, it was the first time in a long time that I can recall Monica Bellucci wearing a colour other than black or navy.

The colour-shy Italian actress looked radiant wearing a Valentino chiffon red romantic gown.

Moving away from the colour aspect; I love how this look exudes timeless glamour.
