Who Wore Valentino Better…Jena Malone or Alexa Chung?

Who Wore Valentino Better Jena Malone or Alexa Chung

Jena Malone was the first to rock the monkey-embroidered Valentino Resort 2015 dress while attending the ‘Inherent Vice’ premiere last month.

Ever the daredevil, she didn’t line the sheer dress, opting to wear a bralet and hot pants, styling the look with a Valentino clutch and navy pumps while giving her new red hair its red carpet debut.

Alexa Chung wore the same dress a few weeks later while attending a dinner party to celebrate Valentino Garavani’s launch of his new book.

While the overall look was much more prim with the dress fully lined, I much prefer Jena’s approach, especially when it came to the styling.

2014 Hollywood Film Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

2014 Hollywood Film Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Lest we forget the gents who took to the red carpet for the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards on Friday (November 14).

Channing Tatum: Escorting his good lady wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, the actor looked so very handsome in his Gucci navy notch-lapel three-piece New Signoria suit with a white shirt, navy silk tie and black leather lace-up shoes. Tatum and Gucci continues to be a winning combination.

Jared Leto: The Oscar-winning actor opted for a smart double-breasted suit from Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2014 collection. I love the styling of this look – yep, even the white Christian Louboutin New Platers Fiori shoes. I love how he can always marry looking smart with being uber cool.

Eddie Redmayne: The British actor joined his Alexander McQueen-clad ‘Theory of Everything’ co-star, Felicity Jones, at this event, looking as dapper as ever. Cut to perfection, his midnight-blue Valentino tuxedo with contrasting black lapels is yet another look for his hall of fame. I love the dual-colour pocket square. Sometimes it’s the little things that make an outfit.

Shailene Woodley In Valentino – 2014 Hollywood Film Awards

Shailene Woodley In Valentino - 2014 Hollywood Film Awards

Shailene Woodley attended the 18th Annual Hollywood Film Awards held at The Palladium on Friday (November 14) in Hollywood, California.

After a run of mannish looks, she was back to wearing a pretty Valentino Spring 2015 star embroidered gown.

I just love the swathes of beige silk chiffon rendered in both volume and lightness that creates a divine silhouette augmenting the floaty, feminine allure.

Barely-there makeup, her favourite gold pendent necklace and slick back tresses completed her look.

Alexa Chung In Valentino – Valentino Garavani’s ‘Valentino: At the Emperor’s Table’ Book Launch Dinner Party

Alexa Chung In Valentino - Valentino Garavani's 'Valentino At the Emperor's Table' Book Launch Dinner Party

A dinner party was held at Christie’s in New York City on Saturday (November 8) to celebrate Valentino Garavani ‘s launch of his new book, ‘Valentino: At the Emperor’s Table’, hosted by Giancarlo Giammetti, Laura Paulson and Pedro Girao.

Alexa Chung was in attendance wearing a Valentino Resort 2015 short-sleeved dress with a lace overlay embroidered with colourful monkeys, which she styled with Louboutin pumps with a feisty studded toecap and a Marc Cross top-handle bag.

This is yet another ladylike offering which is worthy of admiration. The embroidery still hints at her cheeky side, while the styling showcases how much her style has evolved.

Can you not get that monkey off your back; are you having a case of deja vu? That’s because you may remember that Jena Malone wore this same dress sans lining last month.

Kiernan Shipka In Valentino – Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards

Kiernan Shipka In Valentino - Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards

Kiernan Shipka attended the Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards held at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre on Sunday (November 9) in Los Angeles, California.

As you know, the young actress is one of my favourites, but sadly, and for the first time in history, I couldn’t get behind this look.

The high neckline is too stuffy, and even as a print lover, there is way too much going on with this Valentino Resort 2015 frock – it’s almost an assault on the eyes.

I kinda see what she was going for, but even someone with her commanding presence couldn’t sell this to me.

This needed to stay on the pages of a look book.

Do you agree?

Marion Cotillard In Valentino – ‘Two Days, One Night’ AFI FEST 2014 Screening

Marion Cotillard In Valentino - 'Two Days, One Night' AFI FEST 2014 Screening

Marion Cotillard attended the screening of ‘Two Days, One Night’ during AFI FEST 2014 which was held at the Egyptian Theatre on Friday (November 7) in Hollywood, California.

What you are seeing is a rare sighting of the French beauty not wearing Dior.

Instead she wore a Valentino Spring 2015 pale-yellow pleated gown with a contrast collar and embroidered detailing.

The look is soft, elegant and so very chic with the retro ‘do and red lips, plus I feel this is refreshing, yet I would love to see Marion in something much edgier.

I think she would look great in Rodarte, Michael van der Ham or Giambattista Valli.
