Red Carpet Fashion Awards

British Fashion Awards

Last night I attended the 2013 British Fashion Awards held at the London Coliseum.

I had the pleasure of seeing all the guests arrive, with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley providing the jaw-dropping moment of the night.

Even though temperatures were well below freezing, many celebs arrived without a coat, taking time to pose for pictures and chat to the media.

Despite having the shortest dress, Alexa Chung spent the longest time talking to the press, but she did have a coat on standby for those interviews which weren’t being videoed.

The other wow moment of the night came courtesy of Gwyneth Paltrow, who I saw in the press room. This was the first time I had seen her in person and she’s even more beautiful in real life. I was also quite taken aback by how tall she is, as I tend to tower over most celebs.

My favourite person to speak to on the night was Rita Ora. I asked her about her famous red lip, which was a shade from her upcoming collection with Rimmel. She said that she loves to wear a red lip because it makes her feel glamorous, sexy and confident and that now she feels naked without it.

The funniest moment is when I got tongue-tied speaking to Clémence Poésy. She burst into a fit of giggles and couldn’t shake it off for take two of our interview.

On the night, I was inspired by Stacy Keibler’s Michael Kors Monaco look, so I styled my Topshop floral ballskirt with a sleeveless knit top, keeping the look British with Kurt Geiger London shoes in a Bordeaux hue with a matching DVF clutch.

Pixie Geldof In Topshop - British Fashion Awards 2013

Pixie Geldof raised more than a few eyebrows on the red carpet at the 2013 British Fashion Awards held at the London Coliseum in England on Monday.

That’s mostly because she opted to carry a green furry toy as a clutch, but also because the Topshop silver spaghetti-strap dress, styled with a deep-mahogany lip colour, wasn’t particularly flattering.

It was my least favourite look of the night.

Funky Fish jewels also accessorized her look.

Ashley Madekwe In Topshop - Topshop Celebrates The Holidays At The Grove

Ashley Madekwe joined Erin Wasson in helping Sir Phillip Green and Topshop celebrate the holidays by attending an event which saw a special performance by Natalia Kills at The Grove in Los Angeles, California on Saturday.

The actress, who has become somewhat of a Topshop ambassador, donned an on-trend plaid/tartan look featuring a tee with matching cropped pants.

For those of you not convinced by the earlier adopters of this trend, maybe Ashley’s cool styling will bring you around, as the yellow hue of the McQueen clutch draws out the colour in the check print, and the other complementary touches include her matte red lips and white Jimmy Choo ‘Lilt’ pumps.

Is she selling tartan to you? Me? Sold.

Erin Wasson In Topshop Unique - Topshop Celebrates The Holidays At The Grove

Erin Wasson helped Sir Phillip Green and Topshop celebrate the holidays by attending an event which saw a special performance by Natalia Kills at The Grove in Los Angeles, California on Saturday.

The model wore a celebratory sparkling burgundy jumpsuit from Topshop Unique’s Fall 2013 collection.

As you know, I love jumpsuits, so I am slightly miffed by Erin’s decision to style the look with brown cowboy boots.

They don’t complement the look, plus they make her look flat-footed.

She has me from the ankles up.

Kate Bosworth's Three Winter Coats In Three Days

Kate Bosworth had a busy week in New York City, all in the name of promoting her new film, ‘Big Sur.’ But when she wasn’t walking a red carpet, giving an interview, or attending Lucky Magazine’s two-day East Coast FABB conference, you could just as easily have spotted the actress hitting the streets in a great winter ensemble. More specifically, Kate has proven, in just two days, that her coat closet is already stocked with some gems.

Starting with Monday’s first look, Kate touched upon one of the season’s more popular styling themes: winter white.

On top, she wore a leather coat from her Topshop capsule, ‘The Collection Starring Kate Bosworth,’ and paired it with its white leather sweater ‘Collection’ counterpart. Her black skinny jeans and Topshop ‘Aleta’ monk-strap boots gave the outfit its tougher downtown-girl edge, while her beloved Burberry Prorsum ‘Dinton’ tote from the Fall 2013 collection provided an irreverent dash of whimsical luxury.

Note: this won’t be the last you see of her ‘Dinton’ bag. Aside from her loyalty to Topshop wares and covet-worthy coats, this seems to be Kate’s accessory du jour, and I have to admit, it’s quite a fun one at that. There’s not a lot of times I would condone an all-over heart motif, but this works.

Now, back to that same Monday, she switched to a tweedy-looking brown coat with oversized lapels, which she topped off with a light blue chain-strap Carven bag and grey Jimmy Choo pumps. Underneath (and sort of peeking through) is this Alexander McQueen dress, but we wouldn’t see its loveliness until the coat came off later. I guess a little mystery is always good, and in this case, Kate’s polished outerwear was the perfect complement to her McQueen look.

Finishing out this two day tour de force of coat-wearing excellence, Kate donned yet another piece from her Topshop capsule, ‘The Collection’: a navy blue sheepskin boyfriend coat. Admittedly, this is her most laid-back styling of the three looks, but the sumptuous texture of the coat paired with her Karen Walker ‘Deep Freeze’ sunglasses and (once again) her Burberry Prorsum ‘Dinton’ tote made it just as stylish as the previous two.

Consider this three easy ways to dress for the cold without veering into puffer coat-turn-Michelin Man territory. Do you like Kate’s winter-coat styling?
