Whilst shopping in TopShop yesterday, I noticed a pair of shoes that looked very much like shoes that appeared on the runway for Versace’s Spring 2008 collection.

They both have a T-Bar design, they both have a platform, they are both peep toes, but the TopShop version are slingbacks.

The Versace shoes are £380, come in a rainbow of colours including gold, blue and green, whereas the TopShop shoes are £65 and come in chocolate and black.

Sir Philip Green owner of TopShop is lining up Kate Moss to launch Topshop in New York.

Green believes her presence in Manhattan will boost the profile of the opening event.

While Kate’s next collection will hit stores in March, the New York opening is unlikely to take place until September during New York’s Spring 2009 Fashion Week.

On the Fall 2007 runway Chloe’s collection featured many embellished pieces, including this sequin embellished tee which Topshop have taken inspiration from to created their own.

TopShop need to be careful as Chloe have successfully sued Topshop for compensation over copyright infringement in the past.

TopShop have finally found their first US store location in New York after years of searching for a suitable place.

They have chosen 478 Broadway, in the Soho district of the city, which is a perfect part of town for the British retailer to be located.

Arcadia boss Philip Green is aware that US consumers shop differently from those in the UK.

“We have to select and edit our ranges carefully. There is no point dreaming that we are going to go there and sell vests,” he says.

This year he opened several departments in various Barney’s stores which have been hugely popular.

TopShop are keen to get things moving in the US to capitalize on the popularity of the Kate Moss TopShop range.
