Meryl Streep In Lanvin – Oscars 2014

Meryl Streep In Lanvin - Oscars 2014

The acting goddess that is Meryl Streep made her mark on the red carpet at the 2014 Oscars held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday (March 2) in Hollywood, California.

The 18-time nominee wore an elegant Lanvin gown that dipped slightly off the shoulder and suited her quirky personal style perfectly.

You never know what you’re going to get from Meryl on the red carpet, but this look is lovely and age appropriate and the belt and bracelets add a nice touch of style and visual appeal.

Of course, it would have been great to see Meryl make a bit more effort with her hair and makeup, but her simplistic take on beauty is part of what make Meryl, Meryl.

Jennifer Garner In Oscar de la Renta – Oscars 2014

Jennifer Garner sparkled on Sunday (March 2) at the 2014 Oscars, hosted at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

With a big nomination for Best Picture for ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Jennifer wore a gown designed by Oscar de la Renta.

Joining the metallic, beaded, 1920’s-inspired trend, the silver tiered gown was very flattering on the star. Jennifer is one of my favourite red carpet beauties, always making the right sartorial choices in my eyes, but I was underwhelmed by this beaded number–it felt too simple and not glamorous enough for the actress.

Jennifer accessorized her red carpet style with Brian Atwood shoes and Oscar de la Renta’s ‘Goa’ clutch. I did love Jennifer’s side-swept bangs and loosely wavy ‘do and neutral makeup.

Emma Watson In Vera Wang – Oscars 2014

Emma Watson was also among the stars at the Oscars 2014, hosted Sunday night (March 2) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Taking the evening’s light shimmery, metallic trend into moodier territory, the young actress donned a Vera Wang Fall 2014 pewter gown.

The fine gauge ribbed knit tan-and-black stretch lamé dress featured a crew-neck bodice and godet mermaid skirt, providing a sportier look on top mixed with a more dramatic spin on bottom.

The edgy-contemporary vibe was complemented by a Chanel Fine Jewelry ring and Anita Ko ear cuff, along with her pulled-back, mussed-up ’do and vampy red lip.

An Anya Hindmarch ‘Crisp Packet’ clutch completed her look.

Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior Couture – Oscars 2014

Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior Couture - Oscars 2014

Jennifer Lawrence attended the 2014 Oscars held at Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday (March 2) in Hollywood, California.

The actress tripped again as she made her entrance onto the red carpet, which she once again laughed off with great humour. Could tripping be her good luck omen? We shall see.

I’m not surprised the actress took a tumble considering the height of her Brian Atwood black sandals.

Of course, Jennifer wore a Christian Dior Couture gown; it may not have been the one I picked out for her, but her red strapless gown with peplum detail made her look so very statuesque, despite the fact that the gown needed to be an inch or two shorter.

I can’t say this is my favourite Dior gown from Jennifer (that goes to her SAG Awards gown), but this one is better than the one she wore at the Golden Globes.

A Ferragamo clutch and dazzling necklace perfected her look.

Angelina Jolie In Elie Saab Couture – Oscars 2014

Angelina Jolie is not one to disappoint on the red carpet and the 2014 Oscars (March 2) were no exception.

The ‘Maleficent’ actress embraced the metallic trend in a beaded gown from Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture paired with shoes by Ferragamo.

Angie has been all about black Saint Laurent lately – notably her amazing tuxedo at the BAFTAs – so this elaborately embellished couture piece came as a bit of surprise albeit a pleasant one.

Unsurprisingly she looks gorgeous and glamorous and the illusion through the chest and sleeves is sexy yet subtle. And you can never go wrong with Brad Pitt as an accessory.

Sadly, she didn’t seem to put much thought into the hair and make-up, which could have taken the whole look to another level.

What do you think? Was the hair and make-up not enough? Or did it balance out the complex dress?

Camila Alves In Gabriela Cadena – Oscars 2014

Camila Alves walked the red carpet of the 2014 Oscars tonight at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday (March 2) in Hollywood, California.

The model and wife of Matthew McConaughey wore a delicately hued, long-sleeved Gabriela Cadena gown.

Swathed in this wash of creamy fabric, Camila looked sophisticated and ladylike.

Her Lorraine Schwartz earrings, and monochromatic clutch and manicure continue the theme of subtle elegance.

A textured updo and simple makeup finish the look.

Kerry Washington In Jason Wu – Oscars 2014

Kerry Washington In Jason Wu - Oscars 2014

Kerry Washington, and her baby bump, stunned at the Oscars 2014, hosted Sunday night (March 2) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

The ‘Scandal’ actress wore a custom-designed Jason Wu amethyst satin crepe gown with a side slit and gold tie bar detail at the bodice.

She accessorized with Jennifer Meyer jewels, including double bracelets and petite earrings, along with embellished platinum pumps.

The beautifully draped dress, which floated over her burgeoning curves, suffered from a few unfortunate wrinkles and was a casualty of the wet weather, given its rain-soaked hemline.

Still, Kerry was undeniably glowing, rocking a vampy oxblood lip and a soft, wavy half-up, half-down ’do.

Kristin Chenoweth In Roberto Cavalli – Oscars 2014

KristinChenowethInRobertoCavalliOscars2014

Kristin Chenoweth was her always-bubbly self as she walked the red carpet on Sunday (March 2) at the 2014 Oscars, hosted at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

The Broadway all-star wore a design by Roberto Cavalli. Kristin joined the metallic trend of the night, wearing a strapless gilded gown.

The dress had a mini tulle train that added an element of softness to the beaded bodice. I like the lattice detailing of the beading, however I’m on the fence about how the dress looked on the petite star. I think the design of the gown took away from how tiny the actress/singer really is and made a matronly fashion statement.

What do you think: was Kristin gorgeous in gold, or dressed for an older version of herself?
