2017 ESPYS Red Carpet Roundup

There were many other stars from sport and screen at the 2017 ESPYS on Wednesday (July 12) in LA.

Lindsey Vonn: Putting on the glitz with an embellished LBD, the Olympic skier donned a Monique Lhuillier fringed mini paired with Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ sandals. However, ice skates would seem almost just as suitable, as the frock would also make for quite the va-va-voom figure skating costume.

Russell Wilson: The football pro cut a dapper profile in a luxe Tom Ford ensemble, proving that the summer velvet trend is not exclusive to the female set.

Zosia Mamet: Despite her favoured towering platform shoes, Zosia duly impressed me in this Miu Miu red ruffle dress, which saw her take baby steps towards a more sophisticated style. The frosted lip also needed an upgrade, and the necklaces were unnecessary, but these were baby steps, after all.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

There were a number of men who made an impression at the 2017 BET Awards in LA. But, away from that event, there were more fellows who have made an impression on the red carpet.

Chadwick Boseman: First up, Chadwick scored a style slam dunk at the 2017 NBA Awards on Monday (June 26) in New York City. This Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2017 striped suit was a seasonal, refreshing alternative to the standard-issue colours of black, navy, and charcoal. Plus, I love that he skipped the tie on this sleek dress shirt.

Filipe Valle Costa: At the premiere of FX’s ‘Snowfall,’ on Monday (June 26) in LA, Filipe looked sharp in a David Hart Fall 2017 suit styled with Cesare Pacciotti shoes and a Rolex timepiece. The festive plaid did seem a bit heavy, but he lightened the mood with his unbuttoned, white dress shirt.

Miles Brown: I’m not sure it could get any more adorable than Miles who was also at the 2017 NBA Awards. With his custom TO Collection suit, paired with Florsheim shoes, he gets major style points. He wears bold plaid and a bow tie better than men three times his age.

Zhang Ziyi In Tom Ford – 2017 Vogue Film Gala

Zhang Ziyi put the power of an LBD to work for her at the 2017 Vogue Film Gala on Friday (June 16) in Shanghai, China.

I love the relaxed off-the-shoulder asymmetry presented in this Tom Ford Fall 2017 velvet mini, which created a sassy swankiness of form.

But, let’s face it. This look was as much about the dress as the jewels—if not more so. Bejeweled bangles, ring, timepiece, and earrings all took centre stage against the canvas of the frock.

To round it out, she naturally brought the silver platforms out to play which somewhat compromised the elegance ratio.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men have been making the rounds over the past few days, with the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards, premieres, and more all providing reason for them to hit the red carpet.

Matt Bomer: An army-green suit is not one we see on the daily. So, this Todd Snyder ensemble at the CFDA Fashion Awards really caught my eye—especially with the contrasting, tuxedo racing stripes down the side. It was a clever juxtaposition of formal-wear with a sportier vibe in the cropped pants and socks-less loafers. But, I do wish the pants had been pressed.

Tom Cruise: Tom joined Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis for the premiere of ‘The Mummy’ in Mexico City, where he wore an Ermenegildo Zegna Made to Measure three-piece suit. Sure, he looked handsome. But, with a Made to Measure suit, I would have expected a more precise, polished fit as the fabric seemed to crease and pull at various places here.

Donald Glover: Donald was at the Atlanta For Your Consideration screening in New York City, where he wore a Gucci ‘Donald Duck’ cardigan for our consideration. I actually found myself liking the playful, cartoonish spirit. I would have opted for black pants or denim jeans as opposed to these dark navy trousers as they seemed to be the odd man out.

Final Sweep Of The 2017 Met Gala Red Carpet

As you know when it comes to the Met Gala, we always – as impossible as the task is – try to feature everyone.

We don’t intend to leave anyone out, nor do we intend to disrespect anyone.

So here is the final sweep from Monday’s event.

As this is very last post, leave your top 10 in the comments.

Deepika Padukone: I was kicking myself for not spotting Deepika on Monday night. The Bollywood beauty looked breath-taking wearing a bias-cut Tommy Hilfiger design enriched with silver embroidery. Some might say the gown is too simple, but the accessories really help bring the look to life.

Tracee Ellie Ross: The ‘Black-ish’ star wore an avant-garde cobalt-blue Comme des Garçons creation, which I’m sure many of you would’ve expected Solange to wear. There is so much beauty in this off-centered design. I wish more had been brave enough to wear Comme des Garçons at this event.
