Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

It’s been a busy week so far in menswear, with notable events across from LA to New York City, and even Beijing. Here’s what the guys wore.

Common: While at the For Your Consideration event for Showtime’s ‘The Chi’ in LA on Friday (March 9), Common heaped on the calm and collected cool factor in his Sandro Homme Spring 2018 sweater and trousers. This is a great combination of shades, between the golden-yellow and the gray trousers that we don’t see all that often.

Trevor Jackson: Bringing his fashion game to the red carpet of the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday (March 11) in Inglewood, California, Trevor wore a Bally Spring 2018 look. It may have been rather colourful, but this was the occasion to combine a sunset-orange jacket with an owl-print shirt and satiny-blue trousers. Carvil Paris loafers completed his look.

Charlie Plummern: As soon as I said that we don’t see the yellow and gray combo enough, Charlie showed up with another variation whilst at the Build Studio in New York City on Monday (March 12) to discuss ‘Lean on Pete.’ He wore the same Sandro Homme sweater as Common yet his definition of street-style cool had him pairing it with a gray jacket, denim, and white sneakers for a solidly laid-back yet put-together vibe.

2018 Oscars & Oscar Parties Menswear Roundup

Many of the men brought their A game to the 2018 Oscars and Oscars parties, including the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party on Sunday (March 4) in California.

Chadwick Boseman: The ‘Black Panther’ star continued his reign of sartorial power in this Givenchy Haute Couture suit that was inspired by a full look in the Spring 2018 collection. However, I love how he made the long, embellished jacket his own—sleekly styling it with black shirting and trousers and the zipper-accented shoes.

Donald Glover: This Gucci tux such a handsome-luxe approach with the velvet jacket taking it to the next level in partnership with the relaxed-suave appeal of the slipper shoes. A David Yurman ring completed the look.

Tom Holland: Sometimes double-breasted jackets can come across as a bit contrived, but I love how Tom wore this Hermès suit so sharply. It was a standout on the Oscars red carpet with his Piaget watch adding that final touch.

2018 BAFTAs Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A few men were in the mix at the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

Nicholas Hoult: The actor was looking plenty handsome in a Tom Ford tuxedo that represented the best of tried-and-true, classic form.

Timothée Chalamet: This long and lean Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello suit was right within Timothée’s wheelhouse. I especially liked the crisp, folded detail of the white dress underneath that proved extra-smart and sleek.

Daniel Kaluuya: Winner of the EE Rising Star Award, the ‘Get Out’ actor suited up in a Burberry ensemble that was no ordinary tuxedo. Not only was it sharp, it delivered a little something-something extra in the embellished detail, which he completed with a Time’s Up pin.

‘Black Panther’ New York Screening Red Carpet Roundup

More ladies joined Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira for the final leg of the ‘Black Panther’ promo tour at the film’s New York screening on Tuesday (February 13).

Joan Smalls: In a head-to-toe Tom Ford Spring 2018 look, the model was giving us a power suit—done in such an alluring, modern way with the jumpsuit and blazer combo. I loved the subtle seduction of this look, with the pink toe-cap heels to add an element of sass.

Letitia Wright: The patchwork, folk-rock influences of the COACH Pre-Fall 2018 collection were loud and proud in this eclectic mashup of a look that is a bit of an acquired taste in its completely disparate, quirky pieces. I’m still trying to find the rhyme and reason to it.

Zosia Mamet: I liked the styling of this Monse Spring 2018 cropped sweater on the runway, with the fringed skirt. With the windowpane, super-long trousers, it made less sense. David Yurman jewels completed the look that had me wishing for a more cohesive flourish to round out the screening.
