90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon Red Carpet Roundup

The 90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon on Monday (February 5) in Beverly Hills, California saw more stars in attendance along with Saoirse Ronan, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.

Laurie Metcalf: While many attendees opted for shorter frocks, Laurie went for a long Temperley London gown that featured a striking metallic pattern. Yet, it was geared more to an evening red carpet. Pierre Hardy ‘Blondie’ sandals completed her look.

Allison Janney: I like the rich, inky colour of this Georges Chakra Couture Fall 2017 dress. It’s the illusion neckline and side cutouts that offer a less modern element.

Sally Hawkins: I think the extra-roomy proportions of this dotted Rosie Assoulin Spring 2018 ensemble created more of a loungewear vibe than was likely intended.

23rd Jose Maria Forque Awards

The 23rd edition of the Jose Maria Forque Awards were held on Saturday (January 13) in Zaragoza, Spain, where the dress code was quite varied among its attendees.

Goya Toledo: Wearing her favoured designer, Elie Saab, Goya relied on the intricate embroidery of the bodice to add a sense of glamour to the gown that was quite neutral in colour. Embellished accessories attempted to add a sense of sparkle to the look, but she could have done without the ribbon choker. We expect her to wear Elie Saab at the Goya Awards on February 3, so I am looking forward to what she brings to the red carpet there.

Juana Acosta: Even though we’ve seen Tilda Swinton rock this Chanel Fall 2017 jumpsuit, I didn’t mind its second showing here. Opting for a girly-chic approach, she styled the classic-cool piece with a ribbon ponytail whilst celebrating its cropped proportions that showed off her Jimmy Choo sandals.

Dafne Fernandez: I wanted to like this Fernando Claro suit, but it was missing some of the polished structure that makes these menswear-inspired looks so sleek and smart. The taupe colour was also a bit bland, especially with her shoe choice. Not even the brassy Jimmy Choo clutch could enliven it.

The Art of Elysium presents John Legend’s HEAVEN Gala

As to be expected, there was a rush of stars at the 11th annual edition of The Art of Elysium Presents John Legend’s HEAVEN was held on Saturday (January 6) in Santa Monica, California.

Ashley Madekwe: I was a bit surprised to see Ashley donning the Rodarte Fall 2017 look that Nicole Kidman wore to the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. I will say the proportions of the glittery, ruffled look seemed a bit better suited to Ashley.

Rooney Mara: The actress looks to be continuing 2018 with her favoured colour palette of black and white with this Givenchy Spring 2018 lace-accented, asymmetrical dress.

Vanessa Hudgens: I like the enchanting sweep of this Alberta Ferretti Fall 2017 cape gown styled with an Emm Kuo clutch. What betrays the look a bit is the heavy-handed, rust-hued eye makeup, which is a bit too much in the red colour family.

The BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party

There were many more stars in attendance at the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party, joining Diane Kruger on Saturday (January 6).

Michelle Williams: As we might have predicted, the actress was dressed in a Louis Vuitton design—this one a basic variation on a sheath dress with a graphic pattern to add visual interest.

Issa Rae: Continuing her sunny-yellow mood from the 2018 AFI Awards, Issa donned a Rosie Assoulin Spring 2018 frock that featured a sense of girly playfulness in the oversized ruffle detail. With Monica Vinader jewels to round out the look, she kept the styling simple and sleek this time around.

Emma Watson: Emma debuted a short set of bangs that had a certain Sofia Boutella influence to go with her Osman Resort 2018 ensemble. The sharp look prominently celebrated the menswear trend, with Susi Studio loafers contributing to that theme.

Joanne Froggatt In Temperley London – British Independent Film Awards 2017

Joanne Froggatt joined a host of stars on a cold night for the British Independent Film Awards on Sunday (December 10) on Old Billingsgate in London.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress opted for a romantic silhouette via this Temperley London Spring 2018 gown.

Structured with a fitted bodice, the look proceeds to casts a spell in frothy tulle with embellishments which floats ephemerally along the skirt.

Unlike the model, Joanne opted for red pumps instead of a red lip, but I love the look either way.

The Hollywood Reporter’s 2017 Women In Entertainment Breakfast Red Carpet Roundup

There were many more fashionable femmes in attendance at The Hollywood Reporter’s 2017 Women In Entertainment Breakfast on Wednesday (December 6) in Hollywood, California, joining Zoey Deutch and Jennifer Lawrence.

Amandla Stenberg: With a bold play on colour-blocking, this Solace London Resort 2018 ensemble celebrated the feminine form—even with menswear-inspired trousers. I like the vivid curve of the red-orange halter in contrast with the white waistband piece. Nicholas Kirkwood embellished pumps completed the look.

Lea Michele: The actress opted for the elegant-girly aesthetic of designer Lela Rose with this floral-embroidered frock.

Isla Fisher: The suiting trend got a punchy, graphic boost in this Alice + Olivia Resort 2018 matching jacket and pants, styled with a coordinating navy blouse.

Olga Kurylenko In Temperley London – The Fashion Awards 2017

Olga Kurylenko stepped out at The Fashion Awards on Monday (December 4) in London, England.

The actress and model proved black doesn’t have to be basic in a Temperley London Spring 2018 dress.

The volume of the semi-sheer skirt was tempered with the slinky bodice which brings to mind pieces of ribbon expertly wrapped around her.

I like the concept of the top, but found it could have been strengthened with different proportions.

For me, the crystal detailing didn’t enliven the bodice. Had the embellishment been in black, it might have been more successful.
