Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013

Tadashi Shoji took us on a journey along the Modern Silk Road, where East meets West, for his Spring 2013 collection.

The designer, who has successfully dressed many Oscar-winning actresses, started the show with elegant day dresses in his favourite fabric: lace.

On a warm colour palette of paprika, desert, lavender with a selection of blues ranging from lagoon to china to ocean alongside classic black looks, we saw many dresses destined for the red carpet.

Cocktail dresses with Peter Pan collars, pencil dresses, trapeze dresses, long-sleeve gowns, strapless gowns, caplet gowns and tiered tulle gowns were just a few of the highlights, with the colourful piecework and ikat-print dresses requiring a second look.

Favourites: Pale iris ikat-print gazar strapless pleated dress and the floral appliqué spaghetti strap slip gown.

Front Row: Angela Simmons, June Ambrose, Daisy Fuentes

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Elizabeth Banks, Fan Bingbing, Berenice Marlohe, Mena Suvari, Octavia Spencer, Florence Welch, Kate Beckinsale, Cat Deeley, Taylor Swift and Emily Blunt

Brenda Strong In Tadashi Shoji – Channel 5 ‘Dallas’ Launch Party

Brenda Strong joined Jordana Brewster on the red carpet for Channel 5’s launch party for ‘Dallas’ at Old Billingsgate Market in London yesterday evening.

The former ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress, who joins this cast as Ann Ewing – Bobby’s third wife – wore a Tadashi Shoji Spring 2012 dress for the occasion.

Her flirty sleeveless black-and-nude chiffon-lace dress with banded waistline was styled with black B Brian Atwood chain-fringe platform sandals which remind of a similar pair by Nicholas Kirkwood.

An embellished Swarovski clutch, which sparkled as brightly as her Swarovski jewels, accessorized her look.

Dark red lippie and a wavy bob provided the finishing touches.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Angelababy In Barney Cheng & Fan Bingbing In Tadashi Shoji

Even though I received few complaints about a gown taking the lead in this poll the whole weekend, Angelababy’s Barney Cheng gown still won best dressed this week.

My favourite was Fan Bingbing. After a few disappointing samey gowns, my girl was back to her best in Tadashi Shoji.

Her themed look with a dash of Hollywood glamour gave me goosebumps.

Fan Binging In Tadashi Shoji – 2nd Beijing Film Festival Opening Ceremony

She’s back. Fan Bingbing is back to giving me goosebumps after a succession of so-so red-carpet looks.

The Asian actress looked sensational at the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival opening ceremony, held at the China National Convention Center this evening wearing a Tadashi Shoji Fall 2012 gown.

Her blood-red velvet gown with a black lace beaded bodice is a classic case of East meets West.

Asian influences including a crystallized Judith Leiber ‘Pagoda’ bag are mixed with old Hollywood styling featuring marcel waves.

Bold red matte lips and emerald Cartier jewels completed her look.

Florence Welch In Tadashi Shoji – MSN Presents… Las Vegas After Party

After a sold out concert in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Florence Welch attended the Florence + The Machine Las Vegas After Party held in her honour by MSN.

Showing off a darker and more structural look than her traditional performance apparel, Florence appeared in a black-and-teal lace Tadashi Shoji Fall 2012 dress with a boat-neck and tiered skirt.

It seems ironic that Florence chose Las Vegas of all places to try out a new look and ditch her typical golden goddess style.

A loose updo and several rings – I count eight – complete the look.

You loved Mena Suvari in a short-and-sweet red version of this dress last week, so how does Florence compare?
