Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week Front Row – Day 1

Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week FROW - Day 1

Here is a quick roundup of the notable attendees who took their front-row seats during Day 1 of Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week.

Zosia Mamet @ Honor: Still not able to crack a smile, the ‘Girls’ actress who has worn many Honor pieces on the red carpet opted for this pretty pink jacquard racer-front mini dress styled with red-and-white Tabitha Simmons for Honor pointy flats. Not one to usually wear much makeup, I love the pink lip colour here, but her overall styling – not surprisingly – is off.

Patrina Miller @ Tadashi Shoji: The Broadway star was probably picking out her next Tony Awards gown, taking her seat wearing a lovely red embroidered lace cocktail dress from Tadashi Shoji’s Spring 2013 collection.

Olivia Palermo @ BCBG Max Azria: The socialite and FROW regular doesn’t always play the ‘wear pieces from the designer show I’m attending’ game but she did so on this occasion, wearing a BCBG white-and-nude draped long-sleeved Resort 2014 dress with her favourite summer accessories, including the Aquazzura ‘Sexy Thing’ booties, Ray-bans and her crochet Gerard Darel bag, and eclectic jewels including the Lulu Frost necklace I had on my Must-Have Monday post a few weeks back.

Aisha Tyler In Tadashi Shoji – 2013 Do Something Awards

Aisha Tyler In Tadashi Shoji - 2013 Do Something Awards

Aisha Tyler attended VH1’s 2013 Do Something Awards held at Avalon in Hollywood, California, yesterday evening joining Sophia Bush and Jennifer Hudson.

The ‘Archer’ actress wore a dress from the Tadashi Shoji 30th Anniversary Capsule collection.

Her strapless ivory tiered silk dress was kinda let down by the styling as I’m not a fan of the oversized beige clutch, plus I find the red lips and pink manicure jarring.

Katy Perry In Tadashi Shoji – ‘The Smurfs 2′ LA Premiere

Katy Perry selected blue once again for the ‘Smurfs 2′ LA premiere held at Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, California, yesterday afternoon.

The singer, who lends her voice to Smurfette in this movie, wore a cobalt-blue Tadashi Shoji Fall 2013 dress featuring a bow-accented belt, a beaded-and-floral accented bodice and a leather flared skirt.

This dress wasn’t presented during New York Fashion Week; it actually made an appearance on the runway during the designer’s Beijing runway show for his grand store opening in April.

Thankfully not opting for blue hair, Katy styled her look with light-sapphire Swarovski ‘Bella’ crystal earrings and Pedro Garcia ‘Glain’ cobalt-blue heels with a black trim and bow accent.

I know Katy is working a more mature look; however, I wish the length of the skirt had been a tad shorter.

Do you find the length matronly or does the look work for you as it is?

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji – ‘Fruitvale Station’ New York Screening

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji - 'Fruitvale Station' New York Screening

Octavia Spencer attended the New York premiere of ‘Fruitvale Station’ yesterday evening.

The Oscar-winning actress of course turned to her go-to guy Tadashi Shoji, who created this ivory piece for his muse with black-lace embroidery creating a framing effect and a beautiful silhouette.

Her cap-sleeved frock was styled with all-black accessories, Carla Amorim ‘Geladinho’ earrings and a ruby lip colour.

As much as I like this look, I think she would’ve looked even better in the blue-and-white version below.

You can buy the blue-and-white version of Octavia’s Tadashi Shoji dress from Neiman Marcus.

Octavia Spencer made a return to the red carpet following her trip to Cannes Film Festival to promote her latest movie, ‘Fruitvale Station’.

On Monday evening the movie had its LA premiere, held at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California, where the actress wore yet another Tadashi Shoji look.

The actress looked beautiful wearing a vibrant cobalt-blue lace off-the-shoulder dress featuring three-quarter-length sleeves and a blouson top, which was accented with a grosgrain ribbon belt.

As always, effortless, flattering – a match made in fashion heaven.

A simple updo and silver crystal-encrusted slingbacks completed her look.

She looked lovely wearing a Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013 frock with an embroidered bodice and glowing chiffon skirt, which she styled with a blue-and-white clutch that complemented her look perfectly.

A simple updo, silver earrings and a chic top knot completed her look.

The ‘Fruitvale Station’ premiere took place during Cannes Film Festival this evening following the photocall earlier today.

Octavia Spencer: As expected, the actress wore a Tadashi Shoji custom gown. We’ve seen the actress don many gowns in shade of cream, lavender, black and blue, but never a fiery hue like this red tulle-and-lace draped cape sleeve gown. The colour is so striking and the style so very flattering.

Ahna O’Reilly: The actress selected an ivory fully sequined Elie Saab one-sleeve gown with cut-outs at the waist.

Melonie Diaz: Like Octavia, Melonie also opted for a bold colour wearing an Emilio Pucci sea-blue chiffon gown accented with a black beaded belt and styled with silver jewels. Once again she worked a bold lip colour.
