2011 Hong Kong Film Awards

I have been waiting for a look from the Stéphane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture collection to be showcased on the red carpet ever since I attended the show back in January.

My wait is finally over as Miriam Yeung attended the 2011 Hong Kong Film Awards last night wearing an amazing sculptural gown.

I surprised at how this gown with a gold detail on the hip doesn’t appear to overwhelm her. She totally owns it and looks very comfortable.

Whilst I’m happy to see this look on the red carpet, I’m sad that this now mean there’s less chance of Cate or Tilda wearing it.

Stephane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture

My second show today was the Stephane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture presentation.

This is my 3rd season attending a Stephane Rolland show and each time is more beautiful than the last.

His attention to detail is second to none.

The powerful collection mixed structure with metallic finishing touches.

The necklines ranged from plunging to funnel plus the details were either gold hardware or a jewel embellishment at the waist, neck or shoulder.

The colour palette was more suited to Fall with burnt orange, mustard, chocolate, black and olive green, but he also presented a lot of white and nude looks.

I love the draping detail from the hips, the capes which seem to be his signature and the Princess Leia shoulders. It seems like couturiers aren’t willing to let the bold shoulder trend go just yet.

Instead of the usual white wedding gown, Stephane sent down a model wearing a fireball orange plunging jumpsuit with a cape that billowed as she stormed the runway.

This collection screamed classic elegance with touches of modernity.

Favourites: White funnel neck white dress with what looks like Maple syrup dripping down one side and the orange structured dress above

X Factor: Saturday Week 9 – Cheryl Cole In Stéphane Rolland Couture

I had mixed emotions when Cheryl Cole walked onto the X Factor stage on Saturday night.

On the one hand I was happy that she’s finally wearing Stéphane Rolland, but unfortunately her white Fall 2008 Couture dress with a black obi-style belt falls a bit flat on her – literally.

The look has a lot more personality on the runway. The decision to flatten the structure and folds on this dress wasn’t a smart one in my opinion.

You know how I feel about tampering with Couture, so this look doesn’t quite work for me as she presented it.

I don’t hate it, but she took this look from Couture to Pre-Fall.

Champagne coloured pumps and crystal drop earrings completed her look.

Stéphane Rolland Fall 2010 Couture

This was the second time I’ve attended a Stéphane Rolland Couture presentation, and so far it has been my favourite collection.

The couturier always produces amazing pieces I wish we’d see more of on the red carpet.

I loved the fluidity. Everything moved so freely and effortlessly.

The colour palette consisted of most black pieces, with grey, blue, gold and taupe pieces included.

Cocktail dresses, asymmetrical gowns, mermaid gowns, a caped jumpsuit, and dresses with an organza train and leather jacket style top half were presented to a packed crowd of fashion followers.

Some of these looks were worn with belts adorned with jeweled details, or embellished panels to add a touch of sparkle.

Legs were given a major role with mini dresses and rise and fall hems showing off opaque tights embroidered with gems.

It was the gowns I lusted over especially those mermaid gowns with storm clouds brewing on the hemlines.

The pieces with three-dimension ruffles were among my favourite looks in this collection.

The finale look was an ivory mini dress with a caped train, leather bejeweled long gloves and embellished tights.

It was sweet gentle finish to a dramatic presentation.

As you can see I have a much better camera than last season.

Runway To 2010 Grammy Awards – Beyonce Knowles In Stéphane Rolland

Beyonce Knowles looked smokin’ hot at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

Her body just doesn’t quit, and this Stéphane Rolland Fall 2009 gown hugs every curve like a bandage dress.

I love the ribbed patterned details, the zipper which reveals her cleavage, but I just can’t get on board with her hair and those gigantic earrings.

Her hair looks like she had silly string sprayed into it, and those earrings look way too heavy, but they do suit the Egyptian theme she may have been going for.
