2018 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Black gowns dominated the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, but the red carpet was by no means boring with celebrities showing their support for the Time’s Up movement in a wide array of striking looks.

Letitia Wright: Showing a darker side of Gucci, the ‘Black Panther’ actress, who was one of the presenters on the night, looks charming in a belted dress. The bug-like embroidery perks up the black velvet base. Some have remarked how the brands looks sometimes suffer from too many details, but this one has the balance right.

Sally Hawkins: The Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee for ‘The Shape of Water’, shone in a Ralph & Russo gown. This is a more sensual look for her with the slashes in the bodice revealing a coquettish hint of skin. I wish she played into the theme more with romantic wavy hair.

Anya Taylor-Joy: Last year’s Rising Star Award nominee embraced the sexy glamour of Dolce & Gabbana in a black lace dress and golden crown. I can already hear the chants of people wishing the skirt was lined, and I must agree.

Rebecca Ferguson In Stella McCartney – 2018 BAFTAs

Rebecca Ferguson graced the red carpet at the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) in London, England, where she joined Leslie Bibb.

She showed her support for British fashion in a Stella McCartney gown. The black colour also showed her solidarity with the Time’s Up movement.

The graceful style clung to her growing baby bump, but not all the emphasis was on her expectant figure.

The draped cape swept off her shoulders creating an ethereal quality as she walked.

The effect was enhanced by the contrasting white lining.

Rupert Sanderson shoes with Swarovski crystals, a Jimmy Choo bag and Bulgari jewels brought some shine.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw In Stella McCartney – ‘Irreplaceable You’ New York Screening

Gugu Mbatha-Raw struck a pose at the ‘Irreplaceable You’ New York screening on Thursday (February 8).

The simple short-sleeved silhouette of her Stella McCartney Resort 2018 dress is brought to life with the shimmering landscape bead work.

Her darker, simplified version allows the design to pop without any competing elements.

Surface detailing on dresses is certainly nothing new, but it’s not often that we get a design featuring a scene. This is like an artwork crafted with needle and thread.

If it seems familiar, Pink previously wore a longer style to the 2017 Fashion Awards.

90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon Red Carpet Roundup

The 90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon on Monday (February 5) in Beverly Hills, California saw more stars in attendance along with Saoirse Ronan, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.

Laurie Metcalf: While many attendees opted for shorter frocks, Laurie went for a long Temperley London gown that featured a striking metallic pattern. Yet, it was geared more to an evening red carpet. Pierre Hardy ‘Blondie’ sandals completed her look.

Allison Janney: I like the rich, inky colour of this Georges Chakra Couture Fall 2017 dress. It’s the illusion neckline and side cutouts that offer a less modern element.

Sally Hawkins: I think the extra-roomy proportions of this dotted Rosie Assoulin Spring 2018 ensemble created more of a loungewear vibe than was likely intended.

2018 SAG Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Many of the fellows at the 2018 SAG Awards weren’t content to just wear the standard black tux, making for quite the scene-stealing list of looks on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

Noah Schnapp: The young ‘Stranger Things’ star continued to win my affection with a lesson in all that is dapper in his custom-made velvet tuxedo by Stella McCartney paired with Jésù-SégunLondon slipper-style shoes, a Brackish bowtie, and Mrs Bow Tie pocket square. What a charmer.

Sterling K. Brown:
The ‘This Is Us’ star won the best actor award, and his look was equally stellar in this Giorgio Armani tuxedo styled with a Chopard timepiece and cufflinks. This was a lesson in the appeal of classic style with a modern twist thanks to the shades and the slim-line, slightly cropped proportions.

Dacre Montgomery:
I liked this Giorgio Armani ensemble for its unorthodox twist on the traditional tux in the chocolate-brown hue and exaggerated shawl label. Wearing his dress shirt unbuttoned at the top added a rebellious flavour that actually echoed his ‘Stranger Things’ character quite well. Montblanc cufflinks completed the look.

Meghan Markle In Stella McCartney – Cardiff Castle Visit

Meghan Markle paid a visit to Cardiff Castle in Wales on Thursday (January 18) with Prince Harry and continued to prove how she has grace in spades.

The elegant layers epitomize her own brand of refined elegance.

She kept warm in a Stella McCartney Spring 2018 coat, Hiut Denim ‘Dina’ jeans and Tabitha Simmons ‘Kiki’ boots.

Hidden under the elegant layers was a Theory off-the shoulder jacket, which did not mar the lines of the belted topper.

A DeMellier London ‘Mini Venice’ bag brightened the subdued colour palette.

Thanks to AnnaP, we’ve discovered that there’s a deeper meaning to Meghan’s pieces.

Hiut jeans are a Welsh company that are trying to restart a business and re-employ the 400 workers who were laid off. And for every DeMellier bag that is sold, a contribution is made to fund a vaccine to save a child’s life in the developing world.

Our admiration just grew deeper.
