Green Carpet Fashion Awards Roundup

The inaugural Green Carpet Fashion Awards took place in Milan on Sunday (September 24), focusing on celebrating sustainable innovation and supply chains striving to minimize their footprints. Fittingly, many of the lovely ladies in attendance wore ensembles in keeping with the awards’ ethos.

Arizona Muse: Looking lovely in lace, the model wore a bespoke print gown with handmade lace detailing by Stella McCartney for the Green Carpet Challenge. The alluring piece was crafted from recycled archival print fabrics. The mix of the delicate black lace with ab cut out against the flowing florals on the bottom was thoroughly intriguing.

Naomi Campbell: The model struck a pose in an Atelier Versace Spring 2017 Couture gown. Swirls of silver embroidery were enhanced by a gradient train of white and yellow feathers. Naomi’s signature mane was brushed over one shoulder, revealing the halter neckline of the dress.

Kate Hudson In Stella McCartney – 21st Annual Urbanworld Film Festival

You may have done a double-take upon seeing Kate Hudson at the 21st Annual Urbanworld Film Festival on Saturday (September 23) in New York City.

The blonde beauty was rocking a new buzz cut at the event, as she’s shaved her trademark locks for a role in the upcoming movie, ‘Sister,’ which is written and directed by Sia.

However, while her new ’do may be different, what has not changed is her penchant for simply sleek, yet high-impact silhouettes as seen in this Stella McCartney bespoke silver lamé asymmetric gown.

The liquid metal creation provided allure from the front, but it was the back that sealed the deal, as the backless design plunged seductively low.

Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and shimmering makeup rounded out the look.

Reese Witherspoon In Stella McCartney – ‘Home Again’ London Screening

I found myself a little underwhelmed by Reese Witherspoon’s Emmys look, so I was happy to see the actress opt for Stella McCartney again for the ‘Home Again’ London screening this evening (September 21), with a more pleasant outcome.

On this occasion she teams a strong, structural silhouette with a sultry outlook that felt instantly refreshing.

I would say she lets the dress take centre stage, but some would argue that her white Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps and diamond encrusted Cartier bracelet defy that statement.

Some of you might be happy that Reese has not gone down her tried and true route via Roland Mouret or Antonio Berardi, but this look – as beautiful as it is – took me back to her Met Gala Mugler gown.

Reese Witherspoon In Stella McCartney – 2017 Emmy Awards

Reese Witherspoon worked the red carpet at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in Los Angeles.

The ‘Big Little Lies’ actress wore a Stella McCartney satin suit dress, Christian Louboutin ‘Decoltish’ pumps and dramatic diamond jewels.

Oh boy, here we go. I can already sense that this is going to be divisive: I don’t like this look. Yes, I said it. I normally love suiting looks for women on the red carpet, but this just really isn’t working for me. I’m not sure if it’s the sheen of the fabric or how plain jane it is, but I find it quite ‘blah’.

All that withstanding, Reese’s hair, makeup, and holy cow–legs–are perfection.

So let’s hear it–how is loving this, and who stands with me in the not feeling it section?

2017 Entertainment Weekly Pre-Emmy Party

In advance of the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday, Entertainment Weekly hosted its Pre-Emmy Party on Friday (September 15) in West Hollywood, California.

Sophia Bush: This red Stella McCartney body-skimming dress with car wash slits held potential, but I wish the styling had been more complementary. A tonal red sandal like the Edie Parker clutch would have provided a more streamlined effect but I would have stopped the red at the makeup—red eye shadow is always a tough look to pull off.

Padma Lakshmi: The ‘Top Chef’ host also went bold with the eye shadow, hers an intense shade of violet. However, her sultry Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2018 floral-embroidered dress commanded enough attention on its own. I love that she didn’t resort to black pumps, but I’m wishing for a sandal here.

Mandy Moore
: With a shiny new play on an LBD, the ‘This Is Us’ actress donned a Sally LaPointe Pre-Fall 2017 sequin dress styled with Sophia Webster shoes and a red Jimmy Choo clutch. The style-forward edge of the turtleneck sweater piece grew on me, although at first, I did want to remove it.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men didn’t take a break this weekend either, with the 2017 Toronto Film Festival summoning many of them to the red carpet—plus a few other occasions.

Bill Skarsgard: At the ‘It’ Stockholm premiere, Bill wore a tweedy, printed Bottega Veneta suit that he enhanced with the deep navy dress shirt. I just wish he had buttoned the top button of his jacket.

Alan Cumming: At the ‘Battle of the Sexes’ TIFF premiere on Sunday (September 10), Alan showed off his quirky style in a Stella McCartney double-breasted pinstriped suit. The tapered pants didn’t really do the look any favours, and I generally have the same reaction to men’s platform shoes as I do to women’s—being.

Aubrey Drake Graham: At ‘The Carter Effect’ TIFF premiere on Saturday (September 9), the entertainer dressed up in a Prada ensemble that was emboldened by its aubergine palette.

Toronto Film Festival Red Carpet Roundup

The 2017 Toronto Film Festival red carpet has been red-haute with looks throughout the weekend, and here is a roundup of the rest of the stars that were seen on Sunday (September 10).

Margaret Qualley: The young starlet was at the ‘Novitate’ premiere dressed in a Valentino Fall 2017 gown. This ornate look translated a bit heavily for me, but it’s intriguing to watch Margaret continue to boldly experiment with her style.

Evan Rachel Wood: I absolutely loved this Stella McCartney Resort 2018 pinstripe ensemble on the actress at the ‘A Worthy Companion’ premiere. Riffing on menswear, the look perfectly played into her edgy style sensibility while providing a different take on the suiting trend with its play on proportions. Her makeup seemed a bit overzealous, but that would be my main qualm. Giuseppe Zanotti shoes completed her look.

Elisabeth Moss: After a few recent looks that successfully pushed the boundaries of Elisabeth’s go-to style, she was back in her comfort zone at ‘The Square’ premiere with this Rochas retro-inspired jumper and skirt accessorised with Chloe Gosselin embellished pumps.
