Menswear Red Carpet Weekend Roundup

Menswear Weekend Red Carpet Roundup 3

Over the weekend, a group of guys attended a range of events, and if nothing else, I couldn’t be more delighted that there was not a shred of traditional black suiting on the red carpet this time around.

Jon Hamm: On Saturday (June 27), the actor joined Sandra Bullock at the premiere of ‘Minions’ at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, where he wore a summery Ralph Lauren suit contrasted with a baby blue button-down shirt and dark navy tie.

Michael B Jordan: At the 2015 BET Awards on Sunday (June 28), Michael was handsome in a tonal gray-green Sandro suit—with the hue even extending to his dress shoes. Although it was monochromatic, the look had a rich depth, especially when finished with a cobalt tie.

Jason Clarke: While I appreciated his willingness to step outside the traditional sartorial box at the ‘Terminator Genisys’ premiere on Saturday (June 28) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, his ecru Michael Bastian double-breasted sport coat wasn’t exactly flattering. The ill-fitted effect continued with the unbuttoned dress shirt, with Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo’ shoes completing the ensemble.

Lady Gaga In Salvatore Ferragamo – Bikram Yoga Highbury and Islington

Lady Gaga In Salvatore Ferragamo - Bikram Yoga Highbury and Islington

Lady Gaga was spotted leaving Bikram Yoga Highbury and Islington on Monday (June 8) in London, England.

She reached a new level of zen in her style in a Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2015 cropped green knit sweater turtleneck top and green wool wrap skirt with oversized side button accents.

While the ensemble itself was rather conservative by her standards, she did add the punch of multi-colour Pierre Hardy ‘Jerry’ sandals and retro shades for a fun twist.

This was a glorious outing from the songstress, as it perfectly balanced refined elegance and mod edge—now, if we could all look this good after leaving bikram yoga.

2015 Tony Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

men tony awards

The men brought a dose of handsome drama to the 2015 Tony Awards, hosted on Sunday (June 7) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, where the looks trended on the side of classic and traditional—with the exception of one.

Joe Manganiello: The actor cut a dapper profile in an Ermenegildo Zegna black tuxedo that fit him like a glove.

Alan Cumming: Boldly marching to the beat of his own drum, the Broadway icon pulled plenty of stares in his navy printed sport coat. I would have been entirely on board with the whimsical jacket but he started to lose me with the shorts and the black Christian Louboutin ‘Nono’ sneakers, which came across as more comical, albeit they provided a dose of intriguing entertainment in a sea of one-note tuxes.

Darren Criss
: The ‘Glee’ actor put his own flair on a classic navy tux by wearing his Christian Louboutin ‘Dada’ flats with contrasting socks for casual, slipper-style appeal.

Joining the girls for polo, a premiere, and the big fashion party that is the CFDA Awards, the guys showed off a round of eclectic looks over the past few days.

Chris Hemsworth: The actor struck a casually handsome profile at the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park on Sunday (May 31) in London, England, re-purposing his Salvatore Ferragamo plaid sport coat for the occasion by pairing it with distressed denim jeans. You may remember he wore the full suit at the ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Los Angeles premiere.

Joshua Jackson
: Relying on the classics, he was suave in a Ralph Lauren Black Label black peak-lapel tuxedo at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center on Monday (June 1) in New York City. The bow tie seemed just a bit diminutive, though.

Douglas Booth: Also at the Audi Polo Challenge, Douglas wore an appropriately preppy look. I loved the baby-blue colour of his Polo Ralph Lauren jacket and trousers paired with slate-blue Ralph Lauren loafers—even if the suit could have used a quick steam.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Blake Lively In Ralph & Russo Couture, Jennifer Lopez In Blumarine & Michiel Huisman In Salvatore Ferragamo

BDOTW 27 april

Blake Lively served up more looks this week than we can count on both hands, so you rewarded her by naming her best dressed this week for her final look by Ralph & Russo Couture.

I, on the other hand, was totally obsessed with Jennifer Lopez’ Blumarine look, which increased 10-fold when I saw her instagram video of the photoshoot.

When it comes to menswear, the battle is usually between the two Chris’ (Evans and Hemsworth). On this occasion the new boy in town, Michiel Huisman, swept us off our feet in Salvatore Ferragamo.

He was one of three to do the blue suit, light coloured shoes combo this week, so perhaps going tieless edged the win.
