Menswear Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

menswear 15 sept

The weekend was none too short on solid menswear looks from actors who took to the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada.

Tom Hiddleston: Three was his lucky number this past weekend, as the handsome British actor attended a trio of events including the ‘I Saw The Light’ Cast Party at F-Stop on Friday (September 11) followed by EW’s Must List Party at the Thompson Hotel on Saturday and finally the ‘High Rise’ premiere at The Elgin on Sunday. In a totally handsome three-peat, he exclusively wore suits by Polo Ralph Lauren to mighty fine effect. I love how each of his looks were consistently sharp and well-tailored while being different enough to avoid boredom. I thought the three-piece navy pinstripe suit with the lavender shirt was my favourite, but now that double-breasted, windowpane suit matched with a piercing baby-blue shirt is calling my name, too.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

men 1

With the GQ Men of the Year Awards as well as a few other key premieres, the men have made a fine showing the past few days. Here, a look at their ensembles.

David Gandy: Forever cutting a striking profile, David showed us all how a classic tux should be worn at the GQ Men of the Year Awards at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday (September 8).

Jake Gyllenhaal: The double-breasted coat isn’t always easy to wear, but Jake pulls it off in this head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble at the ‘Everest’ premiere at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday (September 9). The baby-blue shirt, which reflected his eyes, was the best decision here.

Samuel L. Jackson: Acting as host of the GQ Men of the Year Awards, the actor was debonair in a polished Giorgio Armani head-to-toe look. I loved the monochromatic nature of the ensemble elevated by the slight contrast of the satin lapels and metallic bow tie.

Ferragamo Celebrates 100 Years in Hollywood

Ferragamo Celebrates 100 Years in Hollywood

A group of lovelies held court with the Ferragamo family and Vogue’s Lisa Love, who hosted a dinner to celebrate 100 years of Ferragamo at Eric Buterbaugh Floral on Wednesday (September 9) in West Hollywood, California. As to be expected, many were outfitted in Salvatore Ferragamo for the evening.

Camilla Belle: Yielding to the siren song of the dramatic, Camilla vamped up the night in a Ferragamo black lace dress that again reminded us that sexy, sheer, and lacy are still very much part of the style vocabulary—for better or worse. Here, the effect was a bit too overworked, especially with the dual waist detail and the forest-green detailing, not to mention the rather theatrical winged eyeliner.

Cody Horn: Her colour-blocked Ferragamo frock in retro hues, paired with geometric sandals, was an eye-catching statement. The look would have been better served with a sleek ponytail as her pretty blonde locks got in the way on this occasion.

Freida Pinto: Wearing the same shoes as Cody, the actress matched her pair with an emerald-green Ferragamo wrap dress. Some measure of the colour-block theme was also repeated here with the navy sash detailing across the shoulder and down the skirt but I prefer to focus on the richly lustrous, jewel-toned hue and her pretty ruby lip.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Diane Kruger In BOSS, Tom Hardy In Alexander McQueen & Jake Gyllenhaal In Salvatore Ferragamo

BDOTW 7 Sept

It’s not like us to embrace such a fall-like creation during summer, but that’s the magic of Diane Kruger.

She looked so very elegant as she redeemed herself from the opening ceremony wearing a velvet BOSS gown, looking every inch the fashion icon that she is.

When it came to the guys, you loved the bad boy charms of Tom Hardy in Alexander McQueen, while I was transfixed by Jake Gyllenhaal – who was also wearing velvet – as he looked very dapper in Salvatore Ferragamo.

‘Everest’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Photocall Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

‘Everest’ Venice Film Festival Premiere & Photocall Menswear

Naturally, the men brought their fashion game to the 2015 Venice Film Festival, as well, attending both the ‘Everest’ premiere and the ‘Everest’ photocall on Wednesday (September 2) in Venice, Italy.

Jake Gyllenhaal: At the premiere, the actor was dressed to impress in a head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble that radiated the look of luxe refinement. Even his overachiever hair-gel tendencies couldn’t distract from those piercing baby blues.

Jason Clarke
: Managing to hold his own next to Jake at the premiere, Jason wore a traditional Dolce & Gabbana black tuxedo that was a sartorially safe option, paired with Tod’s patent black shoes, a Jaeger Le-Coultre watch, and David Yurman cuff links.
