Lou Doillon In Saint Laurent – Deauville American Film Festival

Lou Doillon In Saint Laurent - Deauville American Film Festival

Lou Doillon has been showing a lot of label love to Saint Laurent while taking to the red carpet during Deauville American Film Festival.

Opening ceremony: The French model and actress – who always looks slightly dishevelled yet chic at the same time – wore a pretty black v-neck dress with a crystal-embellished panel and a black leather bow accent, which provided the perfect mix of sexy and sweet. A Chanel clutch and Saint Laurent ‘Escarpins’ patent-leather pumps completed the head-to-toe black look.

‘Blue Jasmine’ premiere: In no danger of upstaging Cate Blanchett, Lou opted to wear another Saint Laurent LBD; this time the frock was strapless and the look was void of any dress-enhancing accessories.

I think it goes without saying that the first look was my favourite of the two.

Gia Coppola’s Weekend At Venice Film Festival

Gia Coppola's Weekend At Venice Film Festival

Gia Coppola took to the red carpet several times over the weekend attending events during the 2013 Venice Film Festival.

Art of Elysium’s ‘Child of God’ and ‘Palo Alto’ event: On Saturday the writer-director kick-started proceedings wearing an off-the-shoulder Christopher Kane Fall 2013 black velvet loop-tape dress featuring a nude lining we didn’t see on the runway. Black sandals and a black clutch with gold hardware completed her look.

‘Palo Alto’ photocall: The following day Gia opted for a head-to-toe Proenza Schouler look, selecting a black-and-white zigzag tweed dress with a small keyhole detail paired with black python pumps, both from the Resort 2014 collection. While the first look was sexy, this one has a youthful vibe. It’s interesting how she’s opted for two edgy designers, yet selected easy-to-wear pieces.

‘Palo Alto’ premiere: For the premiere on Sunday evening Gia couldn’t have looked more like her aunt Sofia, wearing a classic suit by Saint Laurent styled with a white blouse and black bow tie, keeping the makeup fresh and neutral for her borrowed-from-the-boys look.

Vanity Fair 10th Anniversary Celebrations: For her after-dark look, Gia wore a sexy Zac Posen strapless frock with a below-the-knee trumpet hemline and geometric folded detail at the bodice. Still opting for makeup in a neutral colour palette, she once again opted for black accessories, this time wearing black sandals and a satin clutch. You may remember that Naya Rivera wore this same dress back in April.

Of all these looks, the Saint Laurent is my favourite. I feel like this is more her style. The Zac Posen was my second favourite for pure sex appeal – something Zac Posen is a master at.

Saint Laurent vs. ASOS

Saint Laurent vs ASOS

People were shocked to discover that Saint Laurent had priced this 90s-inspired floral baby-doll dress with a Peter-Pan collar, black bow and puffed sleeves at a staggering $68,000 – especially considering that a Chanel Couture piece starts at $30,000.

Why is it so expensive? It has a lot to do with the embellishments. Quite what those embellishments consist of has not been disclosed. Rare materials from the bottom of the Blue Lagoon, perhaps.

If you haven’t got $68,000, consider this flirty ASOS frock instead, which seems to be inspired by the expensive Fall 2013 dress.

Who Wore Saint Laurent Better…Kate Moss or Lady Gaga?

Who Wore Saint Laurent Better Kate Moss or Lady Gaga

We have seen the Saint Laurent Swarovski crystal-embellished stretch-mesh jumpsuit on both Kate Moss and Lady Gaga.

The two ladies wore the piece in very different ways.

Kate added a boyish Saint Laurent blazer and ankle boots while attending a party during Paris Fashion week back in March, while Lady Gaga took to the streets of Manhattan recently adding a bra and panties, accessorizing with Alaïa boots and a studded Alexander McQueen ‘Heroine’ bag.

This look doesn’t is quite shock-value piece.

I know the majority of you dislike this look, but I have to go with Kate on this occasion, even though I wish she had added a leather skirt to the look.

Lady Gaga Loves Saint Laurent

Lady Gaga Loves Saint Laurent

Lady Gaga is back in action promoting her new single, ‘Applause,’ and so, too, is her make-you-look style. In just the past few days, the chameleonic, newly blondish entertainer has made nearly too many costume (and beauty) changes to count.

Even so, Mother Monster could not hide her recent sartorial love fest with Saint Laurent, which found her in four looks from the label last week. Creative director Hedi Slimane has imparted grunge appeal and a tough edge to the collections, also relying on one of his top muses: music. It’s no wonder the songstress is going gaga for his dark, moody entrances.

She kicked off her Saint Laurent streak with a black tuxedo jacket with metal piping, paired with a crepe de chine blouse and leather-and-silk georgette pleated skirt. It could all seem a bit safe for the likes of Lady Gaga, but towering platform boots, splattered multicolour ‘Applause’ makeup and wet-look hair break the rules enough.

Again not washing off the face paint, the singer wore a toned-down black silk gown with lace sleeves from the Spring 2013 collection.

She left her newfound restraint at home for her third Saint Laurent outing. Showing that her standard shock factor is still in order, her Fall 2013 crystal, sheer lace jumpsuit is the body-bearing, boundaries-pushing outrageousness that has Gaga branded all over it. An Alexander McQueen studded ‘Heroine’ bag proved a worthy companion, even if no one was looking at it. You may remember that Kate Moss wore a slightly more conservative rendition of the glittery catsuit.

Finishing out her Saint Laurent style file, she put on a Pre-Fall 2013 black leather studded tube dress with black ‘Janis’ lace-up boots, finished off with long, straight locks and funky, circular shades.

Do you like Lady Gaga’s semi-goth, raven-haired run last week?

‘One Direction: This Is Us’ World Premiere

One Direction: This Is Us - World Premiere - Red Carpet Arrivals

One Direction members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne took to the red carpet this evening for the world premiere of ‘One Direction: This Is Us’ held at the Empire Leicester Square in London, where over 70,000 screaming fans greeted them.

The boys worked a colour-coordinated black-and-white look, but they were very much men with diversity.

Harry Styles: The cheeky singer donned a Burberry heart-print shirt with a Burberry Tailoring blazer and jeans.

Niall Horan: Working a sporty look, he wore a Saint Laurent varsity jacket with jeans and Nike sneakers.

Louis Tomlinson: One size doesn’t fit all, as Louis’ look appears to have shrunk in the wash.

Zayn Malik: This is probably my favourite look of the bunch. Zayn wore a dapper look featuring a Lee Roach layered blazer with a simple white shirt and black jeans.

Liam Payne: His look was part badass rocker with the Topman biker leather jacket while channelling gentleman chic with his white shirt and black tie.

James Marsden In Saint Laurent – ‘The Butler’ LA Premiere

James Marsden In Saint Laurent - ‘The Butler’ LA Premiere

James Marsden was looking as handsome as ever while attending the LA premiere of ‘The Butler’ held at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday evening.

Opting for a dressy casual look, the actor wore a Saint Laurent light-grey notched lapel suit styled with a dark-grey pocket square and white shirt.

Adding a navy cardigan takes some of formality out of his well-tailored summer suit, plus it pulls the black shoes and the pocket square together rather nicely.

Do you agree?
