Golden Globes Blush

Glowing, rosy cheeks rather than bronzer were the order of the evening as nervous stars paraded down the Golden Globes red carpet.

Julianne Moore, Kerry Washington, Emily Blunt and Jennifer Lawrence all played up the apples of their cheeks rather than contouring along the cheekbones, so opening up the face and imparting a fresher look.

For a naturally glowing cheek, the trick is to find a colour that matches your skin when you are flushed from exercise or being out in the cold. ‘The whole idea of putting colour on your cheeks is to mimic a healthy glow,’ says make up guru Laura Mercier

While a powder is typically better for oily skin and a cream formula is great for dry skin, for the best results Mercier recommends combining the two together: ‘It helps the blush stay on longer and looks more luminous,’ she says.

Start with a tinted moisturiser or primer rather than a foundation for a more natural look, then, using your ring and middle finger, blend a dab of cream blush onto the apple of you cheek – draw a line with your finger down directly beneath your iris to your cheekbone for the perfect spot. Blend and pat gently with a tissue to remove any excess.

Next, using a good make up brush, we like Laura Mercier’s Face Brush or Urban Decay’s Good Karma Blush Brush, apply a sweep of translucent powder like MAC Colour Ready Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder to set the cream formula.

Finally, place some powder blush on the apple of your cheek and gently blend up your cheekbone to the outer corner of the eye. When choosing a powder blush bear in mind that powders with shimmer are better for sallow skin, while matte blushes are ideal for eliminating shine and tend to stay put longer.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Host The Golden Globe Awards In L'Wren Scott & Stella McCartney

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the 2013 Golden Globes on Sunday, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.

They took to the red carpet wearing L’Wren Scott and Stella McCartney respectively and both wore the same designers while hosting the show.

Tina wore the same L’Wren Scott dress from the red carpet to host the show, later changing into a custom peacock-blue embroidered L’Wren Scott gown, which was her best look of the night – in fact, it was one of her best looks ever.

Amy hosted the show wearing a burgundy Stella McCartney gown with an embroidered belt from the designer’s Fall 2012 collection. This sexy frock featured a plunging neckline and three-quarter-length sleeves.

Her final look to close the show was a black sequin dress from Stella’s Spring 2013 collection. This halter keyhole dress wasn’t my favourite; it was a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.
Amy kept the same hairstyle throughout the night, while her co-host Tina, opted for three different looks.

I was delighted to see both women step things up in the style stakes, as we know they often find themselves on the worst-dressed lists.

Catherine Zeta-Jones In Jenny Packham - 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Catherine Zeta-Jones shimmered on the red carpet at the 2013 Golden Globes held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Sunday, but for some reason there are only pictures of her taking to the stage to present.

The Welsh actress went for eye-catching details in a sweet frock by Jenny Packham.

Catherine let the intricately detailed breath-taking light-pink flutter sleeve evening gown with silver beading speak for itself with her flawless hair and makeup, adding perfectly selected Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and silver Pelle Moda ‘Flirt’ sandals.

I am huge fan of Jenny Packham’s gowns, so I applaud this chic, effortless, classic choice.

Alicia Vikander In Chanel Couture - 2012 Golden Globe Awards

Anna Hathaway wasn’t the only wearing a Chanel Couture gown to the 2013 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday evening, young Alicia Vikander did too.

The Swedish actress whose film, ‘A Royal Affair, was nominated in the Best Foreign Picture category has become quite the darling of the French fashion house, as this is her third Chanel look in a row.

Dressed in a light pink and grey chiffon striped dress from the Fall 2012 Couture collection, she accessorized her look with a silver Chanel clutch and Chanel Fine Jewelry including an ‘Eventail’ cuff and 18-karat white gold and black and white diamond ring.

A simple side swept ponytail completed her effortless look.

Do you regard Alicia as the perfect ambassador for Chanel, or you love to see her brand out and wear other brands?
