Mary J. Blige In Vera Wang – 2018 Oscars Performance

I think many of us can agree that Mary J. Blige was at her glamorous best on the 2018 Oscars red carpet on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood, California.

And, she kept the elegance going strong for her second look of the night during her emotional performance of ‘Mighty River’ from ‘Mudbound.’

She changed into a custom Vera Wang gown for her time on stage, and what I loved most about this look was the rich burgundy hue.

The off-the-shoulder chiffon sleeves contributed a traditionally romantic quality, but yet again, I would say it was her hair that brought the attitude and the edgy spark to elevate the look and make it her own.

Sally Hawkins In Armani Privé – 2018 Oscars

Sally Hawkins attended the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Los Angeles.

The nominee wore a glittering Armani Prive gown with Chopard jewels.

Sally just exudes joy, and this is a delightful gown. I always love a long-sleeved gown on the red carpet, and we haven’t seen many tonight. The black sash and sequins at the bottom take it from gorgeous to spectacular.

I’m really going to miss Sally as a constant on the red carpet after this award season. Maybe we’ll get lucky, and she’ll stick around?

Camila Alves In Vivienne Westwood Couture – 2018 Oscars

Camila Alves attended the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4).

The lifestyle guru and wife of Matthew McConaughey wore a Vivienne Westwood Couture gown and Chopard jewels.

In true Vivienne Westwood style, this gown has two distinct personalities and unfortunately, they are both striking me as a bit blasé. I really want to love it, but it’s just a bit off. Maybe it just needs a good steaming?

The necklace is a true show-stopper though, and I loved how it color matched Matthew’s bowtie.

Am I missing something here? What are you loving about the gown?

Tiffany Haddish – 2018 Oscars

Tiffany Haddish was also at the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood, California.

I have no doubt the ‘Girls Trip’ actress’s look caught your eye.

She wore a traditional Eritrean gown in honour of her late father, and I like that she introduced this meaningful, special connotation to her red-carpet walk.

Nicole Kidman In Armani Privé – 2018 Oscars

My jaw dropped upon seeing Nicole Kidman on the 2018 Oscars red carpet on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood, California.

This was such an iconic moment for Nicole, as this Armani Privé design not only was so striking in its royal-blue colour, it was so stunning on her statuesque frame.

But, more than any of that, is the sculptural extravagance of the bow that commanded the gown.

You may remember Nicole had another memorable best with a bow in a red Balenciaga gown at the 2007 Oscars.

Her styling and beauty look couldn’t have been more glamorous either—with her Harry Winston diamond earrings, sleek locks, and dark ruby-red lip.

Christian Louboutin ‘Jumping’ pumps completed the magnificent entrance.

Andra Day In Zac Posen – 2018 Oscars

Andra Day truly had a moment (or 12) as she created her own personal photo shoot (even laying down!) on the red carpet of the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4).

The singer and performer wore a Zac Posen Spring 2018 gown, which really makes me wonder who exactly the designer had in mind when he created it.

I really took my time digesting this look, because I wanted to appreciate the unconventional nature and the art of it all, but unfortunately, I never got there. It’s not even just the intentional volume and haphazard seaming–the fabric is simply ugly. It looks much more elegant in the look book, but in person, it is garish.

Her makeup, however, is gorgeous and really is the perfect drama to compete with such a dress.

Lupita Nyong’o In Atelier Versace – 2018 Oscars

Lupita Nyong’o made an appearance at the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood, California.

The ‘Black Panther’ actress offered up a shimmery embellished goddess moment this evening, with this Atelier Versace embellished gown.

The silhouette was iconic Versace, with the one-shoulder, corseted bodice and the side slit—although I appreciated her withholding the temptation for a leg jut.

Hair jewels complemented the dazzling liquid-metallic, Oscar golden look.
