Yara Shahidi In Ralph Lauren Collection – 2018 SAG Awards

The first few looks on the red carpet at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in Los Angeles, California, have shown a lighter colour palette, but Yara Shahidi isn’t one to follow the pack.

She chose an inky black custom Ralph Lauren Collection jumpsuit.

The mix of the masculine draped trousers with the femininity of the full trailing bustle is striking, especially as it still has the clean lines that are a signature of the designer.

Her styling upped the glamorous factor thanks to the Tiffany & Co. jewels, glossy burgundy lipstick and her beautiful natural hair.

This is a look that is begging to be seen from all angles.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The gents have been making some dapper statements on the red carpet of late.

Bradley Cooper: The actor looked suave in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture and Louboutin shoes at IWC Schaffhausen’s Maison launch of its Jubilee Collection at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) on Tuesday (January 16). The velvet jacket and bow tie are a debonair combination with the blue in the watch adding some subtle colour.

Luke Evans: The actor joined Dakota Fanning at ‘The Alienist’ New York premiere on Tuesday (January 16). The subtle pinstripe in his Polo Ralph Lauren suit played off the pale blue shirt. There is something slightly off with the jacket. Methinks a single breasted style would have suited him better.

James Marsden: Also at IWC Schaffhausen’s Maison launch of its Jubilee Collection, the actor looked dashing in a slim navy suit and Louboutin shoes. The soft weave on the fabric could have come across as messy, but its sharp finish speaks to a master tailor.

The Inaugural Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society Award Ceremony

Celebrities stepped out at The Inaugural Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society Award Ceremony on Wednesday (January 10) in Los Angeles.

Sally Hawkins: The ‘Paddington 2’ actress has made a number of chic appearances this week. This Romona Keveza Fall 2017 ensemble continues the trend. The way the gold accessories play off the textured pewter fabric has a chic opulence. Had the shoes been gold, it would have been too much. The black pumps were the perfect finish.

Jessica Chastain: The ‘Molly’s Game’ star sported a similar chic sheath from Ralph Lauren Collection, but opted for a striking red one which played off her ginger locks. It’s a quieter look so it might not be as memorable, but it still oozes sophistication with the fit being immaculate.

2018 Golden Globe Awards Parties

The 2018 Golden Globe Awards were a study in many glamorous renditions of the colour black. And, for the most part, the Globes after parties followed suit with the hue taking on all measures of late-night allure.

Diane Kruger: After a regally glamorous entrance at the Globes, Diane was at the InStyle and Warner Bros. post-party, where she imbued black, cropped trousers with a bit of creamy lace in this Alexander McQueen Spring 2018 ensemble. I have a feeling that the tattered, asymmetrical effect of the lace bustier top will turn some away from the more experimental look.

Tessa Thompson: At HBO’s official after party in LA, Tessa suited up in an Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2017 Couture menswear-inspired look that delivered plenty of intriguing edge when styled with the MATEO jewelry and bauble-accented sandals. I was happy for the sheer shirting underneath to balance the boxier shape of the tuxedo blazer.

Nina Dobrev: The actress flaunted her toned abs at the InStyle party in this Ralph Lauren cutout gown. Even with the futuristic liquid-silver paneling, something about the look read a bit dated. Alexis Bittar choker completed her look.

Shailene Woodley In Ralph Lauren Collection – 2018 Golden Globe Awards

Shailene Woodley joined her ‘Big Little Lies’ cast mates Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 7) in LA.

As someone who loves colour, I found myself fully embracing the array of gorgeous black gowns we saw at this event, sadly, this wasn’t one of them.

Unfortunately Shailene doesn’t sell this Ralph Lauren Fall 2017 Collection look to me.

Aside from the tight fit of the top, I don’t think she has the commanding presence to pull this off, plus I feel its suited to a more mature lady. Jane Fonda would’ve owned this look.

The BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party

There were many more stars in attendance at the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party, joining Diane Kruger on Saturday (January 6).

Michelle Williams: As we might have predicted, the actress was dressed in a Louis Vuitton design—this one a basic variation on a sheath dress with a graphic pattern to add visual interest.

Issa Rae: Continuing her sunny-yellow mood from the 2018 AFI Awards, Issa donned a Rosie Assoulin Spring 2018 frock that featured a sense of girly playfulness in the oversized ruffle detail. With Monica Vinader jewels to round out the look, she kept the styling simple and sleek this time around.

Emma Watson: Emma debuted a short set of bangs that had a certain Sofia Boutella influence to go with her Osman Resort 2018 ensemble. The sharp look prominently celebrated the menswear trend, with Susi Studio loafers contributing to that theme.

Zendaya Coleman In Maria Escote, Styland & Ralph Lauren Collection – ‘The Greatest Showman’ Mexico City Photocall & Premiere

The one thing you can’t accuse Zendaya Coleman of is being afraid of colour during the press tour for ‘The Greatest Showman.’

Yesterday (December 13) in Mexico City, Zendaya’s red carpet M.O. was smart suiting; and of course she nailed both looks.

Photocall: The actress could not be missed in her clean cut Maria Escote blouse complemented by colourful vertical stripes for a flattering, body-elongating effect, which was only heightened by the bright fluorescent hue of her Styland trousers.

Premiere: Am I alone in feeling a strong equestrian vibe? I love how Zendaya empowers her red carpet styled with this Ralph Lauren Collection look. The festive red tuxedo blazer is tailored to perfection to complement her figure with minimal effort. I glad she adding black tuxedo trousers complete the androgynous look, as matching with her blazer may have been overkill with that glossy silk fabrication. Christian Louboutin ‘Cristacora’ pumps completed her look.

Katie Holmes In Ralph Lauren – Hearst 100

Katie Holmes was at the Hearst 100 event alongside Gayle King on Monday (December 11) in New York City.

While her look is somewhat in the vein of classic Katie, I love how she sassed up an otherwise safe ensemble with the Ralph Lauren Collection Fall 2017 ‘Maxine’ off-the-shoulder leather jacket.

It’s just what those trousers and pumps needed—and a chic complement to her slicked-back short bob.
