2017 Emmy Awards Menswear Roundup

The 2017 Emmy Awards were last night (September 17) in LA, and they delivered a number of memorable looks from the menswear department.

Caleb McLaughlin: The ‘Stranger Things’ actor may only be 15, but age has had no impact on his trendsetting, grown-up style. He dressed to impress in a custom Garçon Couture tuxedo that I loved for its bold purple, floral dinner jacket; the colour of which added snazzy, youthful fun to the look. Slim trousers and slipper-style loafers completed the suave ensemble.

Noah Schnapp:
‘Stranger Things’ will not be faulted for not having quite the stylish set of young guns, as I’m even more obsessed with 13-year-old Noah’s style. Statement jackets and cool-kid looks are his current M.O., and that can be thoroughly witnessed in this Balmain outfit. From the royal, velvet military jacket, to his embroidered slippers, he is showing guys three times his age how it’s done.

Finn Wolfhard: Rounding out the ‘Stranger Things’ trio, Finn took a safer approach in a black Prada tuxedo that still wins him style points, though.

Shailene Woodley In Ralph Lauren Collection – 2017 Emmy Awards

As one of the evening’s Best Supporting Actress nominees, Shailene Woodley was on the 2017 Emmy Awards red carpet on Sunday (September 17) in LA.

With newly platinum locks, the ‘Big Little Lies’ actress wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown for the occasion that portrayed the luxe richness of its deep emerald-green hue via the velvet trend.

The simplicity of the look was perfectly aligned to her chic, understated style, with the deep, sexy plunge echoing the mantra that maybe blondes really do have more fun.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

No better way to round out the week than with a group of handsome guys on the red carpet. Here’s who was out and about yesterday (September 7).

Armie Hammer: At the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, Armie echoed his own baby blues with shades of navy in this Ralph Lauren ensemble, where the suede, double-breasted jacket was the star piece. I’m sure the look had a lot more dimension in person.

Shia LaBeouf: Also at the Toronto Film Festival, Shia attended the ‘Borg/McEnroe’ premiere, where he emboldened his dark Prada suit with a colourful paisley dress shirt. We’ve seen nearly the identical look on Dane DeHaan.

Timothée Chalamet: Joining Armie at the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ premiere, Timothée had another shade of blue in mind with this cerulean suit from the Calvin Klein 205W39NYC Fall 2017 collection. The fit could have been better, especially through the trousers, so as to quell any sort of retro prom references.

Nina Dobrev celebrates her harper by Harper’s BAZAAR cover in Ralph Lauren

A party was hosted by Sephora on Tuesday (August 22) to celebrate the harper By Harper’s BAZAAR September Issue which Nina Dobrev not only covers, but she also guest edits.

Knowing this event was on the horizon, I assumed Nina would stick to her sweet/sultry style, so I pictured her wearing a playsuit to short set by Zuhair Murad, so I was surprised to see her go preppy in Ralph Lauren.

As she was the guest editor, I will assume she wanted to present a more earnest look, but it feels more like a catholic school uniform with rebellious Malone Souliers’ ‘Montana’ pumps worn to defy the dress code.

A red Edie Parker clutch completed her look.

Alexa Chung In Ralph Lauren Collection – Wimbledon Tennis Championships

Alexa Chung wasn’t about to miss the action on day 12 of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on Saturday (July 15) in London.

But rather than follow in the feminine footsteps of the summer frock we’ve so far seen dominating the Wimbledon wardrobe, she took a sharp turn into menswear with Ralph Lauren Collection navy pinstripe suiting.

There would be no pretending to add the expected sultry appeal here by wearing the double-breasted jacket sans shirting. Instead, she buttoned up with a white dress shirt and tie, too—fully committed to the sartorial tailoring of the look.

It may have seemed a bit warmish for summer, but Alexa still commanded this look with her nonchalant, cool-girl allure.
