Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Many of you have Claire Danes’ red carpet style down as safe and dare I say boring, but she spiced things up on the red carpet last night at the HBO premiere for ‘Girls’ in New York City last night.

The actress is the first to wear a look from the Preen Fall 2012 collection.

Her long-sleeve dress has a lot going on for the usually reserved star.

The patchwork dress, with a black and gold square-print, black velvet and green asymmetrical panels plus pleating at the waist with a self-tie belt, was teamed with black peep-toes and a black clutch.

I think she carries the look off well. It’s good to see her daring to wear such a bold look.

Claire’s hair and makeup were kept simple and neutral.

On Monday evening Michelle Obama made her first guest appearance on ‘Late Show with David Letterman.’

She looked lovely, as always, wearing a green, navy blue and green Preen Pre-Fall 2012 dress.

Her colour-block dress with a peplum and belted waist was accented with a sparkling Alexis Bittar Sapphire pin which followed the asymmetrical line on her dress.

On show, The First Lady explained how she creates a sense of values for her daughters while living in the White House, and her work on behalf of veterans.

Here are some extracts from her interview:

On late night conversations with President Obama: “He is always upbeat, particularly about Congress.”

On an undercover shopping trip to Target: “I thought I was undercover . . . no one knew that was me. Because a woman actually walked up to me. I was in the detergent aisle. She said, I kid you not, she said, ‘Excuse me, I just have to ask you something . . . can you reach on that shelf and hand me the detergent?’ I kid you not. And the only thing she said, ‘Well you didn’t have to make it look so easy.’ That was my interaction. She had no idea who I was.” Read more…

Preen Fall 2012

Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi took inspiration from Victorian-era scrapbooks and abstract expressionists for Preen’s Fall 2012 collection.

We saw clean, fresh looks with chic silhouettes awash with bold colours and botanical prints which were presented as collages.

You instantly got a downtown IT girl vibe from this collection, which was presented with platform ankle boots designed by Aldo for the second season in a row.

Tapered pants, 40s-inspired dresses, fur-accented coats, chic separates including pencil skirts, jackets, turtlenecks, peplum tops, tulip-shaped skirts and fine lace tops made up this cohesive collection with an underlying sporty feel.

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Kate Bosworth, Rose Byrne, Carey Mulligan, Elizabeth Olsen, Jaime King, Rachel Bilson, Michelle Williams, Cameron Diaz, Emma Stone, Elizabeth Olsen, Marisa Tomei, Carey Mulligan, Diane Kruger, Tilda Swinton, Anne Hathaway, Florence Welch and Zoe Saldana

Rachel Bilson was spotted leaving the NBC studios back in October wearing a Preen kimono-collar crepe dress from the Resort 2012 collection.

The ‘Hart of Dixie’ actress teamed her sleeveless dress with a Chanel bag and ShoeMint pumps, which she designed.

A simple ponytail and red lips completed her look.

Ashlee Simpson was spotted wearing the same dress earlier this month whilst out with her son and pregnant sister Jessica in New York City.

The singer styled her dress with black open-toe ankle boots and a black wool coat.

Her street-style look was complete with a perfect pink glossy pout.

I’m going to go with Ashlee on this one. I much prefer her makeup to Rachel’s.

Evan Rachel Wood joined Camilla Belle on the red carpet for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation’s 2011 Benefit Gala, which was held at the Beverly Hilton hotel this weekend.

The ‘Ides of March’ actress wore a Preen Spring 2012 dress. This is our first look at this collection on the red carpet.

I’m desperate for one of the colourful pieces to be worn on the red carpet, but Evan rightly chose this dress as it’s more season appropriate.

Her black Sonya dress has an ivory and black printed top with a black mid-calf skirt cinched at the waist with an ivory printed belt.

A black hairband pulled back Evan’s lighter blonde hair, whilst the rest of her accessories included black bow front Guiseppe Zanotti peep-toe pumps and a red satin Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.

Simple studded earrings and a pink lip shade finished the look.

The latest stop on Elizabeth Olsen’s promo tour for her latest movie, ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ was at the Mill Valley Film Festival in San Rafael, California on Saturday.

The pretty girl with a string of faultless looks behind her (minus the Calvin Klein dress) looks overcooked on this occasion.

In an attempt to stand out, it comes off like she tried a tad too hard in this Preen Line Fall 2011 look.

The navy turtleneck top is my least favourite part of this look as the embellished neckline looks suffocating.

I do, however, like the Preen Line funnel skirt with two different prints.

An on-trend black Helmut Lang Eon jacket with leather sleeves and grey patent lace-up shoes completed her look.
