Gabrielle Union In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

Gabrielle Union joined a host of beauties who wore Prada to the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The look featured a custom black crop top embellished with Swarovski crystals, beads and onyx stones paired with a knee-length feather-fringed black plastic wrap skirt.

I wanna love it, but the better half of my brain says there is too much going on and she failed to make it work.

A black leather Prada clutch embellished with grommets and onyx crystals plus Prada black satin sandals accessorized her look, with a braided updo adding the final nail.

Sarah Paulson In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

When I saw Sarah Paulson on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5), my first thought was ‘this is much more like it’.

Following a succession of twee dresses and uncoordinated styling, this Prada look suits her style to a tee.

Dark and mysterious with plenty of intrigue, her custom Prada bottle-green tea-length organza gown featured a bodice framed by silver leather piping and a skirt embroidered with geometric Swarovski stones, crystals and plastic beads.

The amazing look was complemented with black embroidered satin pumps, a Prada silver leather clutch and IPPOLITA 18k gold ‘Rock Candy Gelato’ emerald-cut earrings.

A rare 10 out of 10 from me.

Are you equally swept away by this look?

Adele Exarchopoulos In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

Adele Exarchopoulos stunned on the red carpet for the ‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion’ Costume Institute Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

Working a deep-brown lip, the rest of her breathtaking look was in total contrast.

She wore a custom Prada petal-pink satin corseted bustier with a floor-length stretch-tulle column skirt embroidered with mirrors, crystals and bubbles.

The bustier seems like it needs a bit more finessing, but the skirt is the star of this show.

A complementary pink Prada clutch and satin Prada platform sandals accessorized her look, with dark wavy tresses amping up the glamour.

Is the dark lip ruining this look for you?

Brie Larson In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

Brie Larson joined the Prada parade on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala in New York City on Monday (May 5).

While Miuccia’s muses Margot Robbie and Lupita Nyong’o failed to excite, I couldn’t be more in love with Brie’s punchy Prada outing.

Her custom-designed geometric paillette- and bead-embroidered golden ensemble comprising a metallic sleeveless tunic and pants characterized by a gold chevron inlaid into a royal-blue jewelled base is a marvel to behold.

I’m intrigued by every facet of this look, including her Gaydamak yellow gold and white diamond ‘Plume’ hand bracelet, although her Prada accessories should’ve been navy-blue rather than black.

It is a fashionable futuristic look worthy of such an occasion.

Regarded as being quite shy on the red carpet, her personality and ability to step out of her comfort zone really shone through here.

Marina B rings completed her look.

Margot robbie in prada met gala 2014

Margot Robbie was at the red carpet for the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ star wore a Prada custom designed powder blue silk organza tee-length dress. The transparent top, which overlays a satin bralette, featured a high ruffle neckline and geometric mirror embroidery. The skirt is enriched with large black plexi plates.

She complemented the look with grey satin ankle strap pumps and a black satin clutch with a jeweled closure, all by Prada.

Robbie styled her brunette hair in a sleek updo and as always, her makeup was flawless.

Now, obviously she took a fashion risk. And I will say that if you’re going to take a fashion risk, you take it with Prada. But no, I just can’t get myself to make sense of that dress. Sorry!

Lupita Nyong’o In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

Lupita Nyong’o marched to the beat of her own (and Miuccia Prada’s) fashion drum as she hit the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala, hosted on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

I couldn’t wait to see what the actress, style-setter and Miu Miu Spring 2014 campaign model would be wearing to the Met’s fashion extravaganza. She certainly left me speechless in her custom Prada concoction.

In one of the riskiest (to put it mildly), more excessively theatrical sartorial moves of the evening, Lupita paraded out the emerald-green netted dress, assembled with glass beads, crystals and chandelier drops and enhanced with cascades of feathers down the sides and at the bottom hem.

Worn over a brown slip dress, this design had precious little in common with the refined, classic looks in the Charles James exhibit. But it’s hard to deny that she is not rocking it like a pro.

Forget the gala, Lupita’s dress was the party, and the fun only continued with her matching emerald headband, military green suede sandals embellished with large stones and a green raso clutch, all by Prada.

Her hair even seemed to be highlighted with a shade of deep plum to embolden the look further—as if it needed it.

I am still waiting for the shock to wear off. This statement will definitely go down in Met Ball history. What do you make of it?
