Milla Jovovich In Prada – 20th Shanghai International Film Festival

Milla Jovovich attended the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival on Sunday (June 25) in Shanghai, China.

I was intrigued by the red details on her Prada gown which are evocative of paint splashes and look dramatic against the thick straps that fall into a v-neckline to show off the Bulgari jewels to full effect.

Her floaty feminine skirt is also pretty, however, I’m not a fan of the silhouette. The bold lines result in a boxy shape which isn’t particularly flattering for Milla.

Was this look a hit or a miss for you?

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men have been making the rounds over the past few days, with the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards, premieres, and more all providing reason for them to hit the red carpet.

Matt Bomer: An army-green suit is not one we see on the daily. So, this Todd Snyder ensemble at the CFDA Fashion Awards really caught my eye—especially with the contrasting, tuxedo racing stripes down the side. It was a clever juxtaposition of formal-wear with a sportier vibe in the cropped pants and socks-less loafers. But, I do wish the pants had been pressed.

Tom Cruise: Tom joined Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis for the premiere of ‘The Mummy’ in Mexico City, where he wore an Ermenegildo Zegna Made to Measure three-piece suit. Sure, he looked handsome. But, with a Made to Measure suit, I would have expected a more precise, polished fit as the fabric seemed to crease and pull at various places here.

Donald Glover: Donald was at the Atlanta For Your Consideration screening in New York City, where he wore a Gucci ‘Donald Duck’ cardigan for our consideration. I actually found myself liking the playful, cartoonish spirit. I would have opted for black pants or denim jeans as opposed to these dark navy trousers as they seemed to be the odd man out.

‘The Mummy – La Momie’ Paris Premiere

Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis continued the promo circuit for ‘The Mummy – La Momie’ in Paris on Wednesday (May 30), also continuing their recent favouritism for designer Miuccia Prada on this tour.

Sofia Boutella: Dialing back the dazzle of her Madrid Miu Miu look, Sofia embodied old Hollywood elegance in this Miu Miu black gown accented with a subdued level of embellishment for the label. The ponytail, tied with a black ribbon, added a girly sweetness to the vintage-inspired flair.

Annabelle Wallis: While simple in silhouette, the wow factor for this Prada gown was its rosy, coral hue and the golden lines of sequin embellishment that radiated against Annabelle’s blonde locks.

Gal Gadot In Prada – ‘Wonder Woman’ Mexico City Premiere

Gal Gadot attended the ‘Wonder Woman’ premiere in Mexico City on Saturday (May 27).

It seems like the house of Prada got a bumper deal on embellishments as nearly all their red carpet gowns seem to be adorned with something silvery and shiny at present.

At times they can make a look and others break it.

In this case I think they should’ve stuck to the less is more route.

Some of the accents feel a bit random, like the though process was “the more we’ll add the better this gown will look”.

Was this a successful outing in your eyes?

Sofia Boutella In Prada – ‘The Mummy’ Taiwan Premiere

From Sydney, the cast of ‘The Mummy’ headed to Taiwan, China on Thursday (May 25) for the films premiere.

Sofia Boutella was showcasing her softer side one again wearing a pretty lemon-hued gown from Prada.

Yes, Prada.

This is proof once again that when the mood takes them, the Italian brand can make some stunning red carpet gowns.

What I love most here is the romantic mood and the delicate floral embellished straps which drape elegantly down her back.

2017 amfAR Gala Cannes Model Roundup

The models were out in force for the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25) during the Cannes Film Festival.

Elsa Hosk: Striking a pose with a distinct pink, pinup mood, this Ermanno Scervino Fall 2017 gown had all the hallmarks of boudoir dressing with the exposed corset and sheer lace—distracting black heels notwithstanding.

Bianca Balti: What’s this? A model not baring it all? Bianca went for a more conservative stance in a Dolce & Gabbana black gown that oozed of old Hollywood glamour when styled with finger waves, statement jewels, and Gianvito Rossi shoes.

Joan Smalls: Between the length, the ubiquitous slit, and the collar-style neck piece, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture dress paired with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and gigantic hoop earrings. Hip-hop, tribal glam?

Jessica Chastain In Prada – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Jessica Chastain looked lovely wearing Prada to the amfAR Gala Cannes, held on Thursday (May 25) during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

While this dress has a lovely cut and fits beautifully, it is clearly worn to be just a backdrop for the central piece here, the necklace.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a backward necklace on a major red carpet, and since I’m a fan of the trend, I’m thrilled to see it.

The styling is also rather inspired here, because the pearls, tassel and rose-detailing of this Piaget necklace are neither fashion-forward or particularly noteworthy on their own, but by simply turning the piece around, it has a very special red carpet moment all to itself.

With so little happening head-on, Jessica’s makeup was particularly important, and her brown smokey eye and pink glossy lip were the perfect choice to add some interest to all those front-facing photos.
