2018 NAACP Image Awards Menswear Roundup

A handful of suave men joined the ladies for the 2018 NAACP Image Awards on Monday (January 15) in Pasadena, California.

Marcus Scribner: From the wide wing of the metallic accent lapels on this Grayscale velvet tuxedo, to the gold embellished slippers, you would never accuse the look of lacking flair.

Chadwick Boseman: The actor dressed up in a Prada suit that got a boost of decorative appeal from contrast lapels and matching dark Christian Louboutin loafers.

Algee Smith: Bare chest and bare ankles, Algee turned up the heat by skipping the shirt and socks.

Who Wore Ports 1961 Better? Chadwick Boseman or Wei Daxun?

It’s not often we have a menswear WWIB?, yet here we have Chadwick Boseman and Wei Daxun wearing the same Ports 1961 Fall 2017 suit within weeks of each other.

Chadwick made the look his own at the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ LA premiere, whereas Wei opted for the full runway look last night for the Harper’s Bazaar 150th anniversary exhibition in in Shanghai, China.

While Chadwick acquires many kudos points, I love the suaveness the look possesses with the turtleneck, so Wei wins for me.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A group of handsomely outfitted guys have been out and about lately, as they make the red carpet rounds. Here’s the midweek roundup.

Timothee Chalamet: I love this up-and-comer’s style, as he always appears effortlessly nonchalant yet completely pulled-together on the red carpet even in a super-sharp Gucci Resort 2018 checquered suit that assured he stood out among the crowd at the 2017 GQ Men of the Year Party on Thursday (December 6) in LA.

Chadwick Boseman: At the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ LA premiere on Saturday (December 8), Chadwick joined a constellation of actresses—and held his own in a Ports 1961 Fall 2017 ensemble. The unexpected, directional striped detail is what sold the look to me for this monumental premiere.

Nick Jonas: Looking as spiffy as ever, Nick dressed in a Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit for the ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ LA premiere on Monday (December 11). I really like how the cropped proportions, crew-neck shirt, and suede boots brought a whole new, cool-suave perspective to this look.

Olivia Culpo goes festive for Thanksgiving

Olivia Culpo co-hosted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the second year in a row on Thursday (November 23) in New York City.

The model opted for a festive red and white look wearing a Ports 1961 coat, over a red Max Mara cardigan.

Toughening up the look with Unravel Project leather biker skinny trousers, she accessorized with Jimmy Choo ‘Brandon’ boots, a Chanel ‘Caviar Timeless’ classic belt bag and red Sermoneta gloves.

The street style version of the look included a Ruslan Baginskiy baker boy hat.

I love the whole idea, the attention to detail and the execution.

Yes, it might be considered a bit OTT by some, but it’s the holidays, so it’s nice she’s spreading come Christmas cheer.

I love look with the hat.

VH1’s ‘Dear Mama’ Event

Famous moms were in the mix at VH1’s 2nd annual ‘Dear Mama: An Event to Honor Moms’ on Saturday (May 6) in Pasadena, California.

Halle Berry: The actress showcased her penchant for sheer and slits in a Ports 1961 ensemble featuring a distressed mesh top and asymmetric trousers. Unfortunately, I wasn’t buying her bod-flaunting ways this time around as the entire look crossed both unflattering and dated territories. And, the embellished platform heels contributed to the problem.

Kelly Rowland: I much preferred Kelly’s approach at the event, as she donned a feminine Cynthia Rowley floral-embroidered dress, which was both sweet and sexy without a hint of try-hard.

La La Anthony: La La was not one to choose the girls or the gams, as she showed off both in a red Zachary The Label figure-hugging gown, complete with a body chain and gold strappy sandals.

Daily Front Row’s 3rd Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards Menswear Roundup

It wasn’t just about the girls at the Daily Front Row’s 3rd Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards on Sunday (April 2) in West Hollywood, as a few guys also showed off their sartorial attitude.

Matthew Noszka: The model displayed his star power in a Ports 1961 star-embossed suit paired with Max Verre loafers. I think I would have liked this look more with a plain button-down or tee as opposed to the ruffle tux shirt, as it made it feel a bit forced.

Nick Jonas: Suave in a double-breasted Bally Spring 2017 chocolate-brown suit, Nick balanced style-forward appeal with a sense of ease.

Shaun Ross: Known for his avant-garde edge, it’s no surprise the model was his own version of a red-carpet warrior in this Ports 1961 Fall 2016 robe-like ensemble complete with a gladiator belt and heavy-duty platform boots. Costume-quality aside, it looked rather warmish as he’s clearly not ready for the spring.
