LFW Spring 2014 Red Carpet Wish List

LFW 1

Here is my red carpet wish list from the Spring 2014 shows presented during London Fashion Week.

Antonio Berardi: Of all the designers, Antonio’s was the hardest to select just one from, as there are so many looks I am dying to see on the red carpet. In the end I selected Look 4 for Rose Byrne. The actress, who loves blush tones, would look remarkable in this look. It’s soft and pretty, with delicate embellishments, yet the mullet hem gives the look an edgier twist than we are used to seeing from the Aussie star.

Barbara Casasola: The Brazilian-born designer has been steadily growing her celebrity fan base with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Sonam Kapoor as fans, so I hope to see more of her pieces on the red carpet. Marion Cotillard would look amazing wearing this dual-colour black-and-lilac streamline frock. It would be perfect for a New York or London screening.

Tyra Banks In Peter Pilotto – ANTM

Tyra Banks In Peter Pilotto - ANTM2

Tyra Banks loves bodycon dresses as much as I love jumpsuits, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this picture of her pop up on Twitter today.

Looking like a living doll, the ‘America’s Next Top Model’ judge wore a Peter Pilotto hyper-vivid print dress which makes for a refreshing change.

Her frock, which hails from the Resort 2012 collection, features a strong pattern which has been placed to maximize the fit-and-flare silhouette.

Without a hair out of place, she worked a half-up, half-down retro ‘do to complement the aesthetic.

Aubrey Plaza In Peter Pilotto – 28th Annual Imagen Awards

Aubrey Plaza In Peter Pilotto - 28th Annual Imagen Awards

Aubrey Plaza attended the 28th annual Imagen Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Friday evening.

The pretty brunette actress wore a Peter Pilotto Fall 2013 dress.

Her smoke-blue ‘Wave’ strapless dress, featuring suspended fold-over detailing at the bustier-style boned bodice, an A-line waist, and iridescent sequin embellishment, was beautifully styled with yellow Christian Louboutin pumps offsetting the yellow tones in her frock.

Jewels from Bauble completed the look.

I love this look because it set her apart from the other attendees at this event with it being so fashion forward; however, I wish the hair had had a bit more life to it.

Fergie In Peter Pilotto – Ferg’s Gayby Shower

Fergie In Peter Pilotto - Ferg's Gayby Shower

Fergie and Josh Duhamel hosted their Ferg’s Gayby Shower at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday.

The singer posted a picture on Instagram of her wearing a Peter Pilotto ‘Isabel’ digital-print colourful frock which she styled with her own Fergie ‘Protest’ pumps which kept in line with the current white pumps trend that doesn’t look to be dying down any time soon.

Having recently filed papers to legally change her name to Fergie, the singer poked fun at the issue by carrying a Sophia Webster ‘Say My Name’ clutch.

Zhang Ziyi In Peter Pilotto – ‘The Road to the Grandmasters’ Chinese Film Festival Opening Film

Zhang Ziyi In Peter Pilotto - 'The Road to the Grandmasters' Chinese Film Festival Opening Film

Zhang Ziyi made a splash today at a press conference for the 2013 Chinese Film Festival’s opening film, ‘The Road to the Grandmasters,’ at Yeouldo CGV in Seoul, South Korea.

The actress, who has previously shown she’s not afraid to push the boundaries with a range of styles, indulged in a mixed bag of prints with her exaggerated shoulder-cape dress from Peter Pilotto’s Fall 2013 collection.

The designer’s maximal-print aesthetic was out in force here with a colourful kaleidoscope of swirling patterns, which were nipped in with a solid black-and-white waistband.

If there was ever an occasion for a simple black shoe, this may have been the time to ground the frenzied boldness of this look. But, for the red carpet, Zhang’s glittery metallic Jimmy Choo platform pumps were still preferred to the even clunkier patent brogues from the runway.

While accessories weren’t all that necessary, she did select an unobtrusive, wiry pair of H. Stern earrings, along with a Gilan cocktail ring and a gold Omega watch, which also directed attention to her purple manicure.

So as not to compete any further from her intrepid sartorial statement, she pulled her hair into a sleek and discreet updo.

The CW Network’s New York 2013 Upfront Presentation

The CW Network's New York 2013 Upfront Presentation

A bevy of bright young things made quite an entrance at The CW Network’s New York 2013 Upfront Presentation, hosted at The London Hotel yesterday in New York City. Among the hot list, there are starlets from ‘The Carrie Diaries’ to ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and every TV show in between—and they certainly didn’t keep their sartorial sass under lock and key.

Jaime King: The ‘Hart of Dixie’ star flaunted a bold swish of brushstrokes (and her baby bump) in a Peter Pilotto Fall 2013 satin frock, worn with a Rachel Zoe statement cuff and thick strappy Etro shoes. With its abstract expressionist mood, this was nearly like a Mark Rothko painting put onto a dress. Casual blonde waves and a sweep of sky-blue eye liner completed the artistic look.

Aimee Teegarden: The ‘Star-Crossed’ actress must have gotten the art memo, too, as her romper was a study in watercolour prints. The rush of swirling hues was exhilarating; so too was the pop of neon-blue from the pumps and her coral lippie. I just wish her ‘do had carried the same exuberance, as it seemed to fall flat.

Nina Dobrev: Our favourite TV vamp was obviously still channeling a touch of punk attitude from last week’s Met Gala. The newly single star turned up the volume in a blue body-con dress by Versace that featured a punch of black leather, grommets and metal. Shiny platinum Rupert Sanderson ‘Elba’ heels added a final flourish.

AnnaSophia Robb: The young Carrie Bradshaw gave us a peek (literally) of her big-city style with this Katie Ermilio design that featured no fewer than three of the hottest trends of late: stripes, mismatched patterns and midriff cutouts. With so much happening in her dress, she kept the rest of the styling straightforward with minimal accessories, including a pair of Sorellina butterfly earrings and metallic Casadei pumps. Side-swept pin curls sent this look straight to the ’50s while lavender eye shadow added a youthful, fun edge.

With such a variety of styles, who was your top-dressed starlet of the four?
