Cate Blanchett In Monse – Comic-Con 2017: Marvel Studios ‘The Thor: Ragnarok’ Presentation

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Cate Blanchett on the red carpet, so I was fully looking forward to welcoming the style queen back to her throne.

The look she debuted for ‘The Thor: Ragnarok’ presentation on Saturday (July 22) at Comic-Con 2017 in San Diego wasn’t exactly what I had expected, though, from the sartorially elegant actress.

But, leave it to Cate to take even Monse’s affinity for deconstructed, oversized menswear-inspired designs down a more put-together route. However, I will be the first to admit that my initial gut reaction to the Resort 2018 blazer and baggy racing stripe pants was not entirely one of excitement.

Yet, the chic nonchalance with which she wore the separates—complete with her smoky eye and silver sneakers—did grow on me, especially as this was a Comic-Con panel.

What do you make of it all—chic or sloppy?

‘Insecure’ Premiere Season 2

HBO celebrated the Season 2 premiere of ‘Insecure’ on Saturday (July 15) in Inglewood, California with actress Yvonne Orji and executive producer and star Issa Rae in attendance.

Yvonne Orji: Donning a darling Alice and Olivia embroidered mini, Yvonne didn’t play it safe with her footwear. Instead, she wore electric, tangerine Stuart Weitzman sandals to further brighten the palette of the dress.

Issa Rae: We’ve previously seen this Monse Spring 2017 off-the-shoulder, wrap-effect top on Emily Ratajkowski. But, I will not argue with a second showing of the cool, striped piece that offers a modern vision of classic shirting. Plus, I love the more casual spirit of Issa’s look with her faded, cropped denim and navy sandals.

Yara Shahidi In Monse – ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ LA Premiere

Yara Shahidi attended the ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ LA premiere on Wednesday (June 28) in Hollywood, California.

Taking her cue from the film, the actress opted for a pajama-style Monse Pre-Fall 2017 blouse in a striking red and white stripes, which wouldn’t have looked out of place on the films own eponymous hero.

I love the way Yara utilises denim here to evoke cool and casual vibes, just as she did at the 2017 BET Awards.

As always, her styling is perfectly cohesive and on point. We saw Miranda Cosgrove rocking a very similar pair of these Tamara Mellon ‘Reverse Frontline’ sandals a few days ago, it’s clear they are a red carpet favourite.

The hoop earrings and gold rings add some attitude while her blue nails offset the red colour palette for a winning look.

Perfect for a guest of a summer blockbluster LA premiere? Or too casual?

Natalia Vodianova In Monse – Berluti Menswear Spring 2018 Show

Natalia Vodianova cut an attention-grabbing profile at the Berluti Menswear Spring 2018 presentation during Paris Fashion Week on Friday (June 23)—with even an onlooker behind her snapping his smartphone pic.

And, it’s to be expected with an eclectic ensemble of this proportion.

Monse is a label known for its menswear-influenced fabrics, structured shirting, and deconstructed elements—and all of those pillars were fully celebrated in this Resort 2018 look.

There will be no denying its picnic-plaid boldness, or that Natalia wore its oversized, incongruous edge with as much sophistication as could be mustered.

I could perhaps eventually acquire a taste for its directional spirit. But, never for the shoes she paired with it.

Models @ The 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

It was all cheekbones and centre-partings as models descended on the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (June 5) in New York City.

Bella Hadid: The model is a fan of flashing flesh but kept it sophisticated in this blazer-style dress from Off-White Fall 2017. Top marks for the flared sleeves and retro full fringe. We’ll ignore the pale pink lunch bag style clutch.

Maye Musk: I do love the humour and personality in this Rosie Assoulin Spring 2017 dress. It’s unashamedly extroverted and doesn’t apologise for its bling accessories courtesy of Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry.

Karen Elson: Ah, red and green a hallowed combination that almost never goes wrong. Unfortunately, the tried and tested combo falls short here. The Anna Sui Fall 2017 dress is a confusing array of frills, draping, and puff sleeves. Combined with heavy shoes, this look is overwhelmingly bad.
