Hilary Swank continues to give red carpet master classes, this time wearing a Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 black gown.

The cut-out details some how make the actress look even more slender and taller, and the embellish details prevent this from being a boring black gown.

Oscar buzz will guarantee you one thing - an endless supply of stunning dresses to wear on the red carpet - and that’s exactly what Carey Mulligan has been wearing lately.

The style-icon-in-the-making wore a Prabal Gurung Spring 2010 black beaded chiffon strapless dress with shirttail hem and silk faille bowtie to cinched in her waist.

She teamed her dress with tortoise-shell heels and a chunky gold bracelet.

I’m loving the quiff.

Zooey Deschanel is probably the only person who I feel dresses up with tights, rather than covers up with tights.

We often see her in various colours of tights, but on this occasion she opted for black to match the black trims on her cute Luella Spring 2010 dress.

Her look was paired with Martin Lewis for Luella bow accented heels and a black Chanel bag.

Like the runway model Zooey wears a black bow in her hair, but she opted to wears hers at the back.

There were a lot of black dresses at this event, but Kate Beckinsale’s Michael Kors Resort 2010 dress was made interesting with the asymmetrical neckline and the draped detail on the skirt.

Long gold earrings and a chunky cuff complete the sophisticated look.

Despite Diane Kruger being one of the few not to wear black at this event, I wasn’t crazy about her look.

She kept her look light and feminine wearing a Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2010 white silk dress with a rise and fall hem, but unfortunately the nude heels really let her down.

I loved how this gown billowed on the runway, and although that drama is lost on the red carpet Diane still tried to make it work.

I also preferred how the dress sits above the knee on the model, the length feels a bit awkward on Diane.

Julianne Moore is not afraid of colour, as she wore a beautiful coral dress with voluminous sleeves.

I adore the colour on her.  She can be so breath-taking at times without much effort.

The actress paired her dress with Chanel ankle strap heels, and a black Bottega Veneta Impero satin clutch.

Michelle Monaghan looked stunning in a black strapless dress with a floral embroidered detail on the bodice.

She glows as brightly as her Martin Katz jewels.

Dare I say this, but I’m bored.

Charlize Theron normally blows me away each time she hits the red carpet, but I can only get excited about her red Louboutin’s with a gold toe cap and Bottega Veneta clutch.

Her The Row ensemble is very meh!!!

AnnaLynne McCord provided the sultry glamour I was expecting from Charlize, by posing seductively in a one-shouldered black gown.

Taraji P. Henson is wearing a really nice Rachel Roy dress, but it somehow feels out of place at this event.

I’m also not loving the hair extensions. She worked the shorter style really well.

What’s most tragic is the make-up. Why does she have a layer of white powder under her eyes?

On Monday I was pretty sure I was going to vote Cheryl Cole in Atelier Versace as my Best Dressed this week.

On Wednesday I then changed my mind and was certain Blake Lively in Marchesa was going to be my Best Dressed this week.

Then on Friday Lucy Liu swept me off my feet wearing Monique Lhuillier.

I’m sure many of you had the same late change of heart, as you voted for Lucy too.

Many said the that gown was so fabulous that it was impossible for Lucy to go wrong. I disagree because this dress could have come off looking very prom-like.

FashionLover said it best when describing Lucy as floating on cloud.

Thanks for your votes.

Lucy Liu arrived at the “Irene Diamond Award Gala” held at the Lincoln Center in New York last night looking absolutely amazing.

The actress wore a strapless Monique Lhuillier Resort 2010 white gown with thin black piping and a black ribbon tied to her waist.

As usual hair and make-up is flawless and she completed the look with a YSL Y mail clutch.

I think we’ve found a real challenger for Blake Lively this week.

“Dear Lucy, I had a vision of red carpet perfection, and it is all that you’ve given to me.”

Camille Guaty arrived at the “Chrysalis Butterfly Ball” in LA looking beautiful wearing a Monique Lhuillier Resort 2009 white dress.

The dress was gathered at the hip with a gold trimmed tie detail.

She wore gold strappy sandals and gold bracelets to complement the detail on her dress.

Jennifer Love Hewitt wore the same dress which had been shortened from the aqua runway gown when she arrived at the “CBS, CW and Showtime All-Star Party” in LA recently.

She paired her dress with nude Valentino heels and opted to wear her hair back.

Camille’s complementary gold accessories win this for me.

Best Dressed Award
January Jones is never boring on the red carpet.

She always wows me and last night was no exception.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress wore a futuristic Versace mint green gown, with flowing skirt and a structured corset.

She gave me one of very few wow moments on the red carpet.

Best Dressed Runner Up/Best Marchesa Award
Olivia Wilde was one of the first actresses to hit the red carpet last night and was my Best Dressed for the whole of E! Live from the Red Carpet show until I saw January.

Her mint green chiffon embroidered Marchesa Spring 2010 gown with an illusion panel on the bodice is simply exquisite.

She wears the gown so well, so elegantly as we would expected from the beautiful actress.

Best Bling/Golden Girl Award
I do like a bit of bling on the red carpet and it was kindly provided by Kristin Chenoweth who sparkled wearing a crystal encrusted Zuhair Murad’s Haute Couture Spring 2009 mini dress, with gunmetal grey heels and a matching clutch.

I’m so glad she wore the dress without the runway belt.

Best Versace/Lady In Red Award
WOW.

Blake Lively is truly back.

After a disappointing 2008, she has continued to wow me in 2009.

Some of you like that Atlanta Housewife on E! will think this is too sexy. I say it’s sexy enough, and she has the body for it so why not wear a stunning red Versace Fall 2009 gown like this.

Best Maternity Award
I’m so glad Heidi Klum didn’t wear a tent like at the Costume Institute Gala.

Being pregnant is not a crime so why should she cover up?

I think she looks stunning in her Marchesa custom-made gown, which bares a slight resemblance to the Resort 2010 gown presented as they both have beaded a beaded bodice.

Her lace train is what I really love about this dress.

Gowns, Maternity, Bridal and accessories. Is there nothing that Georgina Chapman can’t do?

It Took Me A While, But I Love It Award
At first I was really unsure about Kate Walsh’s J. Mendel Spring 2010 crystal blue pleated strapless gown, as I thought it was unflattering.

But the more I looked at it, the more I appreciated the soft draping, and how beautiful the colour looked on her.

The actress paired her dress with and Aldo clutch.

Most Improved Award
Dana Delany is usually a hot mess on the red carpet, but she opted for a stunning purple Basil Soda Fall 2009 Couture strapless gown.

Excluding the embroidered bodice it’s quite a simple gown.

Slinkiest Silhouette Award
I love a mermaid gown that gives the wearer a Jessica Rabbit style silhouette.

Jennifer Carpenter’s Zuhair Murad Fall 2009 one shoulder nude tulle gown does that.

The gown has intricate black beading thought-out with a dramatic rosette detail on the bodice.

Better Than The Runway Award
I was really intrigued by Mila Kunis Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 maroon tulle gown because of the way she had made it work for her on the red carpet.

I really dislike the runway styling, so I’m glad Mila has made me see this dress in a more positive light.

She accessorized with Fred Leighton jewels.

Interesting Change Of Direction Award
For the first time in a while I actually love Chloe Sevigny’s look.

I’m not one who get carried away with her “style icon” tag, I just judge her look by look and this Isaac Mizrahi Resort 2010 one-shoulder polka dot gown I love.

I also love the fact that it’s not an obvious choice.

50 And Fabulous Award
I have a soft spot for Marcia Gay Harden, she reminds me a lot o Helen Mirren in that she’s not afraid to show off her cleavage, like she does in this sequined Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2009 gown.

I love how the sash gives her a tiny waist, to give her an perfect hourglass figure.

Best Couture Award
This bold blue Basil Soda Fall 2008 gown may have a lot going on for you, but it all works for me.

I got texture, embellishments and it beautiful. All the ingredients need for a stunning couture gown.

Thank God She Pulled Her Hair Back Award
I was so happy that Drew Barrymore wore her hair tied back, because that black stripe she had in her hair last week would’ve been disastrous with this beautiful Monique Lhuillier blush gown.

Best Use Of Tulle Award
Rose Byrne was literally picking her gown up as she walked along the red carpet, as there was so much of it.

I loved this Valentino gown.

It was the perfect colour for her, despite it’s size she didn’t get lost in it, and the embellishment were beautiful.

Curvalicious Award
How can you not love Christina Hendricks? She is just too fabulous for words in her L’Wren Scott navy and black lace gown.

I would’ve adored her in a colourful gown, but she looks this hot it doesn’t matter.

Matchy Matchy Award
Ginnifer Goodwin wore a fuschia pink YSL strapless dress.

The dress matched her Brian Atwood heels and her clutch.

The stunning necklace is what pulls this whole look together and I absolutely adore it.

Best Necklace Award
Mariska Hargitay opted for a Carolina Herrera silver shimmering gown, which fitted her like a glove.

Best Embellished Gown Award
Perrey Reeves wore an ivory Naeem Khan chiffon empire waist short sleeve V-front gown with crystal beading.

More looks to follow.

In Monique Lhuillier’s show notes she said she was inspired by the Masia Warriors.

Whilst viewing the collection I felt more of a roaring 20s vibe from the flapper dresses and fringed detailing. The collection for me paid homage to screen stars of a golden age with the classic shapes and strong detailing.

The collection was supremely elegant. It felt like Monique had made decision to make the pieces more simplistic.

The gowns and dresses breathlessly whispered look at me.

There wasn’t too much frou frou. No bells no whistles just stunning gowns with beautiful details.

Stunning evening gowns will make the Rachel Zoe and the other stylists at the presentation happy, but there were also cute cocktail dresses.

The pieces were jewel encrusted, draped,  pin-tucked, ruched and of course fringed.

With the Emmy’s around the corner, I’m guessing many will have be picked as potential contenders for the big night.

Here are a few of my favourites. You can view the whole collection at Style.com.

Tyra Banks toned down from last years event where she was easily one of the worst dress, to one of the Best Dressed of this event - which wasn’t that much of a challenge.

The TV presenter arrived on the red carpet wearing a coral one-shoulder Rachel Roy Resort 2010 dress, with beige Manolo Blahnik heels and a Sang A nude clutch.

I’m loving the natural look she’s giving us these days, it’s so refreshing and it totally suits her.

She was able strike the right balance of elegance & sophistication.

Ashley Jones wore a flowing backless Matthew Williamson for H&M Summer 2009 floral gown.

Some of you may have this dress in your closets if you were lucky enough to buy this gown before it sold out.

I love the tiered ruffled skirt and the neutral accessories she paired with her gown.

Portia de Rossi’s navy off-the-shoulder Monique Lhullier Resort 2010 gown is absolutely stunning in its simplicity.

My only disappointment is that opted for thong sandals to complete her Grecian look.

She’s married to Ellen DeGeneres not Tom Cruise, surely Ellen wouldn’t object to her wearing heels.

I much prefer Heather Tom’s choice of this navy Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2009 fringed dress, as I feel the burnt orange colour wouldn’t have been flattering to her colouring.

The dress is exquisite which she pairs with Christian Dior heels.

Lara Spencer wore a black and white asymmetrical ruffled gown accented with a red belt.

Her gown was a bold choice and will no doubt have you on the fence, but I was crushing on her Valentino Couture red patent bow peep-toes which was on my favourites list last week.

Lori Loughlin elegantly posed on the red carpet wearing a peachy satin asymmetrical Enzoani gown with embellished details on the shoulder and hip.

Gold tone accessories including Loree Rodkin jewels, Renee Caovilla heels, and Bottega Venetta purse completed her look.

Jennie Garth channeled old Hollywood with her wavy ‘do and vibrant orange Issa gown accented with a sparkling brooch.

She sparkled with silver accessories.

Kirsten Storms sported a wavy ‘do as she walked the red carpet wearing a Tadashi Shoji navy silk chiffon one shoulder gown with white silk organza rosette strap.

Her look was paired with a navy Kotur clutch.

Rachael Ray was one of the winners of the night.

She walked the red carpet wearing a plum draped halter dress with a gold coil neckline.  She was one of the few to opt out of wearing a gown.

Susan Lucci is very much the Queen of daytime soaps.

The Queen shone brightly as she sparkled in a coral embellished halter neck Zuhair Murad gown.

Gina Tognoni looked sensational in this raspberry bow tied gown with a ruffled cascading down the front of her gown.

Like the dress, but I’m not crazy the hair.

Marcy Rylan opted for the mothers-to-be favourite red carpet Peas In A Pod gown.

This rose gown with a rosette detail on the shoulder, was also worn by Kimora Lee Simmons.

Kristen Alfonso attracted me with her stunning electric blue one-shouldered gown.

The embellished neckline is also exquisite.

Nadia Bjorlin was oozing sexy glamour wearing a backless gown, with a gold embellished detail draping from her neck and down her back.

Taylor Spreitler’s fuschia pink one-shouldered gown was one of my favourites.

It’s’ simple, colourful and she didn’t over accessorize her look.

Michelle Stafford strapless floral black and white gown is beautiful.

I love any dress that give a woman this stunning Jessica Rabbit/mermaid silhouette.

Stacy Haiduk was the joker of the night as she carried a cat purse on the red carpet.
