2017 BET Awards Red Carpet Roundup

For better or worse, there were many more attention-stealing looks at the 2017 BET Awards in LA on Sunday night (June 25)—many of which garnered stares for all the wrong reasons.

Dascha Polanco: White-hot was the M.O. for the ‘Orange Is The New Black’ star in her Bishme R. Cromartie pantsuit. The plunge made it typically sexy, but that architectural ruffle was like fashion’s version of whipped cream on top.

Sasha Lane: The young starlet has not shied away from directional looks—or tribal makeup—and this Proenza Schouler Fall 2017 ensemble styled with a Sergio Rossi ‘SR1’ sandal and silver python Proenza Schouler ‘Curl’ clutch strongly continued in that experimental vein. Those who don’t love this look will likely only see trash bag-inspired pants. Regardless, I wish the sheer top had fit her better.

Tamar Braxton: To go with her platinum ’do, Tamar wore rhinestones and see-through lace in this Walter Mendez gown that won’t pass the test for those with sheer fatigue syndrome. Was anyone else getting a strong Cher vibe?

Maren Morris In Michael Costello – 2017 ACM Awards

Before her performances, Maren Morris walked the red carpet at the 2017 Academy Of Country Music Awards, which took place on Sunday (April 2) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Wearing a custom gorgeous green chiffon Michael Costello design, I did find myself slightly distracted by her black underwear peeking out via the hip high slit, but to be honest it doesn’t deter me from liking the look.

With the tousled tresses, kohl-rimmed eyes and multitude of earring, I sense that she wanted to give this pretty look an edge which she managed successfully.

Aja Naomi King In Michael Costello – Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards

Aja Naomi King was one among many stars that attended the Essence 10th Annual Black Women in Hollywood Awards Gala on Thursday (February 23), in Beverly Hills, California.

Donning a whimsical Michael Costello Collection 17 Part 2 gown, the actress certainly made a statement walking down the red carpet.

With so many bold elements in one dress, there is a lot to take in here.

As radiant as Aja looks, this gown is just too busy to work in her favour. Perhaps without the sheer balloon sleeves or deep cut-out, this look would have fared a lot better.

I’m glad she kept the styling simple with a neutral makeup palette and accessories.

2017 Grammy Awards Artists Second Looks

For the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12) in LA, some stars didn’t only rock one look. It was a double feature—a triple feature for a few—with quick changes all night long.

Celine Dion: Don’t let the side view of this Mugler Pre-Fall 2017 black gown fool you. It was still slit way up to there, as presented in the look book, showing off some major leg as the music icon took the stage to present the award for Song of the Year.

Maren Morris In Michael Costello – 2017 Grammy Awards

Maren Morris hit the red carpet of the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12).

The country singer wore a purple lace Michael Costello gown from the designer’s Spring 2017 collection.

This gown is everything we love about Michael Costello as a designer with the lacy detailing, the intricate cut of the bodice and neckline and the drama of the skirt, and Maren embodies the spirit of the dress perfectly.

I also love the surprising styling choices of the white sandals and black and white belted clutch.

The whole look is a great marriage of elegance and fun, and a total win for me.

Ariadna Gutierrez In Michael Costello – ‘xXx’: Return of Xander Cage’ LA Premiere

Ariadna Gutierrez was also at the ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ LA Premiere on Thursday (January 19).

With all the sea of fabric in this Michael Costello fire-engine-red gown, you’d think that she couldn’t have come close to a wardrobe malfunction.

Yet so high was the slit that it turned the dress into a fashion emergency, unintentionally offering a panties peep show when she wasn’t careful.

And the visible illusion neckline only made the look even more in the need of some serious rescuing.
