Red Carpet Fashion Awards

I’m guessing the dress code for the London Show Rooms LA closing cocktail event was colourful prints, as Hailee Steinfeld also brightened up the red carpet at this event in LA last night.

The teen star is the first to wear a look from Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2012 collection.

She opted to wear her floral-print dress without the sleeves to make this a cute cocktail look.

Beauty-wise, the teenager opted for kohl-rimmed eyes, a dark pink lip shade and she wore her hair back in a high ponytail.

I would’ve preferred the runway shoes, but Hailee wore tortoiseshell pumps.

Gillian Jacobs was one of the few to provide some colour on the red carpet at Elle’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute in Beverly Hills yesterday evening.

She would’ve stood out at this minimalist event wearing a Mary Katrantzou Fall 2011 dress.

The ‘Community’ actress wore the commercial version of this stunning multi-coloured floral dress.

We’ve had a few hiccups on the red carpet with stars wearing uninspiring footwear with their Mary Katrantzou dresses, but Gillian wore chartreuse peep-toes, which was a simple yet perfect choice.

A blue Edie Parker ‘Jean Azure Mica’ clutch and sexy barbarella hair completed her look.

Alexa Chung attended the 2nd Annual Capsule Collection for Vogue Eyewear launch held at Sunglasses Hut’s flagship store in New York on Tuesday.

The TV personality wore a Mary Katrantzou Lily Pond floral print dress from the Fall 2011 collection.

This is the second time this a week that a Mary Katrantzou dress has fallen foul to less than impressive footwear, but that is very much Alexa’s trademark so one should not be surprised.

Her multi-coloured floral-print silk dress was paired with a black Chanel shoulder bag.

This is a really nice dress, but Alexa doesn’t have the chops to pull it off. It’s totally overwhelming her.

Barely-there makeup and trademark messy tresses completed her look.

These girls need to start reading Street Style blogs because Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia and co would be able to show them which shoes work with these tricky prints.

Leelee Sobieski opted for something very different whilst attending the 2011 Metropolitan Opera Season’s opening night performance of ‘Anna Bolena’ in New York City last night.

The blonde actress, who many of you said reminds you of a young Sharon Stone, is just as daring as she wore a Mary Katrantzou ‘Kite Runner’ printed silk-jacquard dress from the Fall 2011 collection.

Her multi-coloured printed silk-jacquard, racer back, fishbowl-print dress with a structured bell-shaped skirt and an additional underskirt, was paired with some unfortunately forest green booties.

This look would’ve been amazing with the right pair of shoes.

Inside the venue for the Mary Katrantzou Spring 2012 presentation we were met by a bed of colourful flowers.

It was, of course, a huge indication of what was in store for this collection.

There was no need for coffee before this 9am show as the array of colours was truly awakening for this fatigued fashion crowd.

Lavender, yellow, orange, purple, pink and green flowers bloomed across structured mini dresses with bubble skirts, pant suits, sweaters, pencil skirts and chiffon tops with a flowing trains.

Other than florals, we saw expressive digital print images of flamingos and other birds on body-conscious silhouettes.

The finale halter dress with an asymmetrical hemline was created using Swarovski Elements which looked really heavy, but the model showcased the dress beautifully.

Christian Louboutin provided colourful heels which complemented not only the collection, but the model’s lip colour too.

Blue continues to be a hot lip colour for Spring 2012. Models at Richard Chai Love also sported this bold lip shade.

Once again we see a purposely messy updo hairstyles on the runway, so we won’t be buying any hairbrushes this coming Spring 2012.

Favourites: Tri-colour floral ensemble and printed dress with asymmetrical hemline and crescent bodice

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Anna Dello Russo, Solange Knowels, Cameron Diaz, Minka Kelly, Kelly Rowland, Florence Welch, Fergie, Tilda Swinton, Shala Monroque, Rosamund Pike and Yasmin Le Bon
