Aubrey Plaza In Marios Schwab - 2013 Emmy Awards

Aubrey Plaza was one of the first to hit the red carpet at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards held today at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Parks and Recreation’ actress covered up in a shadowy Marios Schwab gown from the Resort 2014 collection. The lacy number featured a top-to-toe nude lining, which was originally conceived in a black per the lookbook and would have been my preference.

Craftsy-style black ribbon appliques and colourful, bloom-like embellishments crawled up the sleeves and surrounded the high neckline, so I’m glad she wore an updo to prevent any additional clutter.

A JustFab box clutch, along with Rupert Sanderson ‘Hydra’ heels and Neil Lane earrings and statement rings, added more glam factor to the gown.

Front Row @ House of Holland Spring 2014

The catwalk was crammed with colour at the House of Holland Spring 2014 presentation on Saturday during London Fashion Week in England, where several starlets turned out to see the Crayola action.

Alexa Chung: The DJ stepped out in a Marios Schwab army-green frock, accented with black vinyl at the bodice and an abstractly printed skirt. Signature Alexa styling included flat black booties and a box clutch.

Nicola Roberts: Going for a vintage spin, the British recording artist wore a green throwback-print House of Holland ensemble. A shoulder bag, metallic-accented T-strap heels and a teased, rolled half-up, half-down ’do completed the throwback effect.

Ellie Goulding: The singer again grounded her look with leather, this time choosing shiny, black micro-shorts by House of Holland paired with a cozy, text-printed sweater in a saturated purple hue and another pair of black ankle booties. Messy waves and a light-pink lip finished out her word play.

Olivia Wilde in Marios Schwab - Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew

Olivia Wilde made a return visit today to the Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew during the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

After her more relaxed outing at the studio, the actress went for a mood of subtle sophistication in Marios Schwab separates from the Spring 2013 and Resort 2013 collections.

The black mesh-embellished, crew-neck sweater lent a smart, schoolgirl-charm to the ensemble, whilst serving as a more casual counterpoint to temper the swirling, sequin-studded layers of the high-shine skirt.

We’ve seen her lovely ombre waves displayed on multiple occasions of late. A different ‘do here would have added another dimension to Olivia’s look.

Rosamund Pike In Marios Schwab - 'The World's End' LA Premiere

Rosamund Pike took to the red carpet at ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California yesterday evening for ‘The World’s End’ premiere.

The British actress and the face of L.K. Bennett wore a Marios Schwab Resort 2014 dress with a sheer lace yoke and sleeves and an edgy cut-and-staple effect.

While I love the dress on the model, the nude panel worn under Rosamund’s dress was the first thing to catch my eye, lessening the sexy effect of this high-impact piece.

The barely there makeup trend of the summer continues here, with subtle gold earrings and black Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pumps completing her look.

I wanna love it, but it ends up being just OK for me. Not BDOTW-worthy. Would you agree?

Naomie Harris In Marios Schwab - Fashion Rules Exhibition

Following her stint in Paris for Couture Week, Naomie Harris was back in London to attend the launch party for the Fashion Rules exhibition, a collection of dresses worn by HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales, held at Kensington Palace in London yesterday evening.

The British beauty turned to her favourite designer Marios Schwab, selecting a look from his Spring 2013 collection. You may remember that Naomie wore the London-based designer a few times during her ‘Skyfall’ promo tour.

She selected a simple black chiffon dress with a pleated skirt, keeping the skeleton-like leather corset belt we saw on the runway, which was a signature feature within this collection.
Her favourite black Edie Parker ‘Jeans’ box clutch and Jimmy Choo ‘Fauna’ lace booties accessorized her look.

As always, she is flawless in the hair and makeup department. I much prefer this to her Fendi look.

Rinko Kikuchi In Marios Schwab - 'Pacific Rim' Mexico City Premiere

Rinko Kikuchi attended the ‘Pacific Rim’ Mexico City premiere held at Reforma 222 in Mexico yesterday evening.

I was delighted that the Asian actress opted for one of those difficult-to-wear pieces from the Marios Schwab Fall 2013 collection, which actresses have been avoiding thus far.

Delighted, but not surprised, as Rinko is something of a red carpet daredevil who never takes the easy route.

The long-sleeved eggplant satin gown with a nude sheer yoke and embellished nude skirt with a satin trim was styled with a Mawi amethyst-shard-and-large-crystal choker.

I love the addition of the choker, not only because it looks like part of the gown, but also because it covers the neckline, which would’ve given away the illusion.

Am I alone in wanting to see this up for BDOTW?

Met Gala 2013

Here is a roundup of the rest of the ladies who took to the red carpet for the 2013 Met Gala on Monday evening. Models @ The Met post will follow.

Brooklyn Decker: The actress wore a custom Peter Pilotto look inspired by the Spring 2013 collection. While the look is custom I feel like I have seen this look several times before, so there is nothing fresh or new about it, unlike other custom looks as showcased by Karolina Kurkova and several others. Her Sergio Rossi ‘Hypnos’ sandals, however, are a work of art.

Alicia Keys: The singer took to the red carpet wearing a custom Jason Wu gown. Her black leather and bordeaux sequin embroidered halter gown is beautiful, but I wish Alicia had pushed the punk vibe with the styling a bit more; the red streaks in her hair aren’t enough for me, especially when we know Alicia isn’t afraid of taking a fashion risk. Robert Lee Morris jewels and a vintage clutch completed her look.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: The actress wore a beautiful custom Calvin Klein scarlet gown for the occasion which was punked up as far as she would go with a studded choker and a Tod’s black studded clutch with a gold frame. While I do love this look, I wish Maggie had gone bra shopping before this event.
