Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Kerry Washington received the ‘Star Power’ Award during BET’s Black Girls Rock 2012, held at the Paradise Theater in New York City on Saturday evening.

The actress looked gorgeous, wearing a Marchesa Spring 2013 ensemble.

Her gorgeous floral embroidered ivory cape worn over a mini-skirt was let down by her black Christian Louboutin ‘Love Me’ bow pumps.

I would’ve preferred pewter heels to complement the embroidery on her dress and metallic Anndra Neen clutch.

A chic updo, berry lip colour and gold Anito Ko earrings provided the finishing touches.

Naomi Watts was in Spain last night for the Madrid premiere of her latest movie ‘The Impossible’.

The actress wore a dress by her favourite designers: Marchesa.

Her white jacquard knee-length dress with voluminous shoulders from the Resort 2013 collection was styled with a Louis Vuitton striped mother-of-pearl clutch, Chopard earrings and Christian Louboutin ‘Summerissima’ sandals.

I love this look from the ankles up. Although these Louboutin heels have been worn on the red carpet by Taylor Swift in her J. Mendel gown, they don’t feel dressy enough for her Marchesa look.

Gold strappy sandals would’ve been preferred.

Sultry rouge lips and wavy blonde locks completed her look.

Are you equally irked by her sandals?

Sarah Hyland wore her second Marchesa dress of the night when she attended HBO’s 2012 Emmy Awards Post Awards Reception at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California, on Sunday.

She changed out of her dove-grey Marchesa gown for a black strapless cocktail dress with floral appliqués.

Keeping the look all black, she styled it with a Swarovski black satin ‘Darling’ clutch, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and Brian Atwood black suede ‘Wagner’ peep toes.

For the second year in a row, Sarah Hyland showed off her designing prowess.

The ‘Modern Family’ star teamed up with Georgina Chapman of Marchesa to design her dove-grey gown which she wore to the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

In true Marchesa spirit, the gown was beautifully embellished with silver and crystal detailing.

Unfortunately, I’m not too fond of the prom hair.

Hayden Panettiere was the first person to showcase a Spring 2013 runway look on the red carpet at the 2012 Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday evening.

The petite blonde went with red-carpet favourite Marchesa for the occasion.

Giving us our first red-carpet peek at the designer’s Spring 2013 Bollywood-themed collection, Hayden looked lovely in a gold-embroidered gown with blue tulle overlay.

A voluminous topknot, unfortunately, adds a bit of unnecessary fuss to the look.

A sleek ‘do would have been much preferred.

Marchesa designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman were inspired by the spirit of India in the 60s for their Spring 2013 collection.

With celebrities packing the front row at Grand Central Station on Wednesday afternoon, we were treated to a stunning array of what Marchesa do best: red-carpet dresses and gowns.

Heavily beaded dresses, flirty fringed frocks, delicately draped, sari-inspired gowns, tunics paired with Capri pants, and bejewelled cropped tops worn with pants or floating chiffon skirts proved to be a big hit with the front row and celebrity stylists.

Rich brocades were kept simple and embellishment free, chiffon dresses were tastefully trimmed with gold beaded details and silhouettes stayed true to the Bollywood theme whilst still feeling very modern and current.

Some of you may think some of the pieces are a tad OTT, but I envision them looking even more spectacular on the red carpet.

The colour palette of rich Bordeaux, eggplant and teal green did give the collection a fall-like feel, but with celebs snapping this collection up very soon, those piece would look great on the red carpet come October.

Chartreuse, white, gold coral, orange and pretty pinks made up the rest of the collection.

Gem Palace provided the opulent jewels, Marchesa beaded bags were presented alongside their signature quartz clutches and Christian Louboutin provided the footwear which ranged from flat and beaded to T-bar midi heels shimmering in gold.

This was a favourite presentation this fashion week. Even with three more rounds to go, I can’t see anyone topping this for me. Bring on awards season.
