Laverne Cox In Marc Bouwer – 2014 Emmy Awards

Laverne Cox In Marc Bouwer - 2014 Emmy Awards

After attending the 2014 MTV VMAs on Sunday night, Laverne Cox was back on the red carpet for the 2014 Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 25).

Embodying a completely different style, the ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress went from high-octane shine at the VMAs to sleek Grecian goddess in this white, custom Marc Bouwer plunge gown.

The sleek draping and the diaphanous train that trailed behind her were beautiful, and the effect was one of ultimate sophistication.

Her styling was on point, too, reflecting the more refined classicism of the gown with Stuart Weitzman heels, a few sparkling Fred Leighton jewels and a romantic, rolled updo.

Laverne Cox attended the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards #VMA on Sunday evening (August 24) at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

The ‘Orange Is The New Black’ star stunned in a sparkling Marc Bouwer Fall 2013 asymmetrical frock, which duly showed off her super-long pins.

She worked the sharp, architectural shape of the leggy design to her advantage, also premiering an edgy new blunt bang.

An Avery Libertine hand chain by Johanna Johnson was the right move on this occasion, where other jewels would have competed with that cascade of shimmering sequins. I don’t even mind the use of plain black pumps here.

The lines of dress may have been better served with a simple updo, or perhaps I’m still just adjusting to that heavy fringe.

Gabrielle Union In Marc Bouwer – 2013 ESPY Awards

Gabrielle Union In Marc Bouwer - 2013 ESPY Awards

Gabrielle Union attended the 2013 ESPY Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California yesterday evening to support her boyfriend Dwyane Wade.

The actress wore a striking Marc Bouwer Fall 2012 heavily embellished frock with a plunging neckline, open back and slashed shoulders.

Black patent pumps, EF Collection earrings, an emerald Graziela Gems ring and a taupe Diane von Furstenberg ‘Tonda Crinkle Mirror’ suede camouflage clutch accessorized her look, with a fishtail ponytail providing the finishing touches.

It’s a great look, but too dark and heavy for my liking on this occasion.

Are you having a case of deja vu? That may be because Jaimie Alexander wore a similar-style dress earlier this year.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Jaimie Alexander In Marc Bouwer, Tong Liya In Valentino & Chris Pine In Ermenegildo Zegna

BDOTW 29 April

Jaimie Alexander was your best dressed this week wearing a bright yellow Marc Bouwer gown to the ‘Iron Man 3’ premiere.

It took me a while to make my choice, but I eventually went with Tong Liya’s heavenly Valentino gown.

As for the men, the choice was much easier; Chris Pine in Ermenegildo Zegna. You also agreed that this was the best choice in menswear this week.

Jaimie Alexander may have been trying to steal the spotlight from Gwyneth Paltrow when she took to the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California for the ‘Iron Man 3’ premiere last night.

The actress stood out wearing a bright-yellow Marc Bouwer gown.

Her strapless gown, which hugs her curves, features an embellished neckline and cut-out detail, which adds yet more sex appeal to her look.

Like Zhang Ziyi, Jaimie is a Marc Bouwer devotee, having worn the designer on several occasions during the promo tour for ‘The Last Stand’ and most recently for the 2013 SAG Awards.

Kohl-rimmed eyes and a nude lip colour completed her look.

Zhang Ziyi In Marc Bouwer – 4th China Film Directors’ Guild Awards

Zhang Ziyi In Marc Bouwer - 4th China Film Directors' Guild Awards

Zhang Ziyi attended the 4th China Film Directors’ Guild Awards held in Beijing, China on Friday.

The beautiful actress wore yet another Marc Bouwer gown with structured shoulders.

Her silver sequin gown was styled with Cindy Chao jewels and a silver Lana Marks clutch.

While the actress did sparkle, this look feels too one-dimensional to me – plus I’m having a strong case of déjà vu.

Does the Zhang/Bouwer collaboration continue to delight, or do you wish to see her do something different?
