Who Wore Malandrino Better? Beyonce Knowles or America Ferrera

Here are two gorgeous curvaceous women wearing the same Malandrino Resort 2010 dress.

Beyonce Knowles was the first to step out wearing this jade dress to Billboard’s 4th Annual Women In Music event back in October last year.

The singer wore her dress with ivory Sergio Rossi peep-toes, super-straight hair and large earrings.

This was a refreshing sweet style switch for Bey.

America Ferrera wore the same dress when she attended the 25th Annual Imagen Awards in LA this weekend with red Louboutin’s.

I loved the refreshing burst of colour from America, but I prefer how the dress looks on Beyonce so she wins for me.

25th Annual Imagen Awards – America Ferrera In Malandrino

Woot woot.

Let’s rejoice in the fact that for the first time in a long while, America Ferrera is not wearing black.

The former “Ugly Betty” actress usually stick to her red carpet staple of wearing a LBDs, but she arrived at the 25th Annual Imagen Awards in LA yesterday wearing a beautiful Malandrino Resort 2010 jade dress.

Her Malandrino Resort 2010 dress with draped skirt and ruffled shoulders was even more surprisingly paired with ruby red peep-toes which matched her bold lipstick.

The colour is to die for and I love how the dress nips in her waist.

You may remember that Beyonce wore this same dress to the Billboard’s 4th Annual Women In Music Awards last year.

Do you love that America stepped out of her comfort zone or would you prefer a return to classic black?

Malandrino Fall 2010

Malandrino’s Fall 2010 presentation proved that the designer Catherine Malandrino is still going through a tribal phase.

The tribal references came from the animal prints, distressed leather pieces, feathers and fur.

The colour palette was muted with cerulean blue, burnt orange, black and khaki pieces presented.

Layering was key to this presentation, with chunky belted cardigan paired with printed tops and tapered pants.

For the red carpet there was pretty chiffon printed gown and a velvet blue cowl neck dress. Cocktail dresses were both flirty and edgy.

I particularly loved the multi-coloured sequined dress which stood out in a room with strong prints and furry pieces.

Celebrity guest included Mena Suvari, Kelly Rutherford and Kate Walsh.

Here are a close up of some of the finer details, which included wooden platforms heels, large bejewled statement necklaces and messenger bags.

2010 SAG Awards – Lea Michele In Malandrino

Best Dressed from “Glee” Award
It feels like there’s so many cast members from “Glee” at these awards shows, but tonight Lea Michele stood out.

The Oscar de la Renta Globes gown was too old and grand for her, but this emerald green Malandrino Spring 2010 gown with a plunging ruffled neckline feels more youthful.

The colour really pops on the red carpet, and her hair and make-up was flawless.

She also looks more comfortable here, which adds to the overall appeal of this look.

Catherine Malandrino For BMW

We’re well aware the music and fashion go together, now we are seeing a trend of designers collaborating with car manufacturers.

Luisa Beccaria collaborated with Citroen, now we have the French born, New York based fashion designer Catherine Malandrino.

The designer stars in a new BMW national advertising campaign which is featured in the December issues of Condé Nast publications W, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Bon Appetit, Condé Nast Traveler, The New Yorker, and if you are on Style.com as often as I’m you will have seen the adds pop up there.

The editorial tells a story of Catherine looking fabulous outside her Meatpacking District Flagship boutique, and on a weekend getaway at her country house in upstate NY.

It’s a portrait of her nomadic chic lifestyle with the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo as her ultimate companion.

Of course she’s dressed in her own designs from her Fall 2009 collection.

IFP’s 19th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards

I always think of Proenza Schouler as an edgy label, and Natalie Portman as a sweet delicate flower so the two together shouldn’t work, but she looked stunning in this ombre sequined Spring 2010 Proenza Schouler tank dress.

I said in an earlier post that ’tis the season to wear sequins and sparkle which Natalie certainly does here.

Her hair was pulled back as she wore black peep-toes and carrying a cute Judith Leiber Discoball sphere clutch to complete her look.

Brooke Shields wore a Malandrino Fall 2009 off-the-shoulder ivory dress with a bird embroidery detail going down one side, plus a tulle overlay.

I love the dress on the runway, but it looks really loose on Brooke and as a result the dress appears to be creased even though I’m sure it isn’t.

The Stella McCartney Resort 2010 collection has by far been the most popular collection worn by celebrities this year.

It was only a matter of time before someone ruined the good feeling.

I expected it to be Heidi Montag, but American comic Kristen Wiig opted for the shorter version as worn by Rachel McAdams.

The problem isn’t the dress, the problem are the red tights and the way it makes me think that Kristen is channeling her inner elf.

As cute as Rosie Perez’ dress is, the first person that came to mind when I saw this dress was Taylor Swift because she has worn a very similar dress recently.

Plus Rosie’s dress feels more suited to someone of Taylor age group.
