Who Wore Karen Millen Better? Kerry Katona or Faryl Smith

Kerry Katona was seen all over the British press on Wednesday wearing this stunning Karen Millen sequin bow accented dress to the Birthday Party for OK! Magazine Editor in Chief Lisa Byrne at Flemings Hotel in London.

What was the big deal?

The big deal was that this is the best that Kerry ‘car crash’ Katona has looked in a very long while.

Scratch that.

This is the best she’s ever looked.

She paired her dress with the matching Karen Millen sequin bow peep toes and matching clutch to complete her look.

Faryl Smith arrived at the launch for ‘Serenata 2010′ in London yesterday wearing the same dress.

This was either a total coincidence, or a clever PR move by the teenage classical singer. Either way she also looks great in the Karen Millen dress.

I have to give this to Kerry because she’s battled her demons, finally got rid of that useless husband of hers and come out looking absolutely matchy matchy fantastic.

Stella McCartney vs. Karen Millen

The Stella McCartney Resort collection was very popular and included many lace pieces.

Walking into my local Karen Millen store recently I notice they also have many lace pieces, but it was this Karen Millen lace jacket which caught my eye.

Both jackets have the same shrunken french lace three quarter length sleeves, the same contrasting nude lining and the same scallop edging.

The main difference is that the McCartney jacket has a solid banded waistband.

As if by coincidence Charlize Theron and Thandie Newton have both been spotted wearing the Stella McCartney lace jacket this week.

Karen Millen Spring 2010 Press Day

Continuing on our way through some of fashion’s finest press days Catherine and I went yesterday to view Karen Millen’s Christmas 2009 party pieces, plus we got a preview of the Spring 2010 collection.

Taking notes from runway collections the Karen Millen line continues to cater for a modern, fashion-focused woman. The designs are well-made and certainly worth their affordable price-tags.

First up the evening wear which was predominantly black and full of heavy embellishment and diamante detailing. The dresses are all really different, which was great as each one offered something alternate. Long and short lace sleeves were used to complement an otherwise basic dress design with a small fishtail added on the back which was an elegant touch. An asymmetric piece stood out with it’s coordinated frills traveling down the front creating beautiful soft lines in a fully feminine way.

A seasonal favourite- the sequin- was not amiss here either. I was more than glad to see shoulders and necklines covered in them. Like a magpie I quickly felt favouritism kicking in with a blue sequin cropped jacket and some black diamante encrusted shoes. The perfect accompaniment to dress up any outfit and timely for the oncoming festivities.

Who Wore Karen Millen Better? Amy Poehler or Kathy Griffin

Actress and comedienne Amy Poehler looked beautiful when she attended The 2009 Gracie Awards Gala in New York earlier this month.

She glowed wearing a champagne coloured Karen Millen stretch satin dress with dramatic folded shoulder line on the sleeves.

Copper bejeweled heels, and a classy updo completed her look.

Kathy Griffin wore the same dress is an stunning electric blue colour, when she arrived at he Ed Sullivan theater in New York for her appearance on the “Late Show With David Letterman”.

The comedienne wore her dress with a black leather belt, and YSL Trib Two slingbacks.

I do adore the electric blue version as it stands out more, plus Kathy’s seems to fit better so she wins for me.

In Eva Longoria Parker’s Closet – Karen Millen Fringe Dress

Eva Longoria Parker is fast becoming the unofficial face of Karen Millen, as this is the third time in a row that the actress has worn a dress from the British high street brand on the red carpet.

The official face of the brand is “model” Daisy Lowe.

On New Year’s Eve, a longer haired Eva, held a party at her Beso restaurant in LA wearing a black fringed Karen Millen dress, which had a sheer yoke. She wore her dress with black YSL Trib Two patent heels, and a black clutch.

The dress is currently sold out on Karen Millen’s website, but you may still be able to find some in-stores.

Update: The dress is now back in stock, and available to purchase from KarenMillen.com for Â£85.
